    It's baseball so I don't know that anything is likely, but we definitely had a chance. Here, we don't. And that hurts. We were so close once again. Just can't clear that hurdle.

    Yelich has sucked but come on. Like he was ever going to be left off the roster or benched. I get we're disappointed, but c'mon. We were more than a Yelich away from competing in this. Philly's star studded lineup didn't do much better. Smoltz is right. We ran into a juggernaut.

    Story of this series. As soon as we went down, I've felt like the game is over. Every night.

    Honestly if we're going to lose I'd prefer it to be like this. I get my money back for Games 6 and 7, and I've had my lifetime fill of watching other teams celebrate the pennant on our field. In my dreamlike state I thought we might be up 3-2 and wanted to make sure I'd be there for the pennant. Maybe someday I guess.

    It's tough for me to upset about anything that's happening really. We pitched well enough to compete in this series. We just had no answer offensively, and a lot of that wasn't anything other than elite pitchers peppering the strike zone against average hitters. It's a small consolation that our pitching staff answered the call for the most part and proved it can give you a chance against a star studded lineup. It is what it is. We got outgunned plain and simple.

    I have to eat my words with Bauers as he's been a bright spot the whole playoffs.

    Realistically it's just very hard to imagine winning a series after losing game 1 with that one in a million double play and loading the bases in the 9th. It's pretty improbable to win 4 games outside of that. But we're here, so there's no point in not dreaming.

    They will just have to keep doing this and like any other non-juggernaut, get a bit of luck. Luck like a catastrophic injury(ies) to the Dodgers at an inopportune time, or luck like the Dodgers have to play San Diego or something in a Wild Card series and happen to lose two games, which is just easier to do than four times. I don't really accept that we'll never see the Brewers win. It may not be with this cycle of guys, but if you keep putting yourself in the tournament, you have chances. An 84-win Dbacks team just got there two years ago. It will always appear unlikely, but doesn't mean it won't happen. It's just more likely to be an Atlanta situation where we have to make it 12/15 years to win once.

    Eh. I pretty much know what's coming here but when I and many others said, beat the Cubs and it's a good season, I at least meant it. It's been a good season. Memorable group of players. Probably a top 4 Brewers season of my lifetime. '08, '11, '18, '25. Feeling it wind down is a bummer but if this is it, we extended the season to October 17ish, which is more than I can reasonably expect. So, I feel content, and if we win any games here, just a bonus.

    Chicago made the playoffs, which is a giant consideration there.

    Realistically much lower. I am not forking this just yet. There is a lot of ball left and weird things happen all the time. Very meh Dbacks team was in this position just a couple years ago (although they were headed back home) and ended up advancing past Philly. 3-0 is a death sentence, 2-0 is trouble, but you're not dead just yet.

    It's down to one thing, really. Our pitching held up for the most part to keep us in these games. But our moneyball offense never had a chance because the Dodgers SP just had too good of command. There was no opportunity to be patient because they simply never stopped throwing strikes. They turned us into a hack-a-thon which wasn't going to end well for us. And that is the difference when $800 million can buy you a handful of guys who simply don't miss. The fringe arms never had to step on the field in a playoff series. That's who loses most of their games. We basically need someone really good to have a bad day.

    Completely unscientific, but if you asked me who I want at the plate with 2 outs, bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th in October, it's Braun and I don't need 2 seconds to think.

    The Brewers approach at the plate wouldn't have made a lick of difference against Snell. He wasn't throwing any balls. Their patience would have resulted in looking Ks. I would argue that trying to hit the ball early in the count was the right move, they just couldn't do it.

    Ok? Point is they've been the "best team" a lot and have not much to show for it relatively speaking. They have been ousted quite often by teams they were supposed to beat.

    A more realistic path is the Brewers have a year like this and the Dodgers just have 2 bad days in the Wild Card and lose to someone like Cincinnati. Then getting dumped in a short series is fairly plausible.

    Their 9 hitter would be like our team leader in home runs. One free agent bat that will look like Yelich in 3 years is not the answer to our problems. We would need like 6 of them.

    I'm just not sure you can AnnoyingBall your way to a championship when winning random games against Cincinnati's 3rd starter by stealing bases doesn't matter anymore. And that is absolutely not a criticism of the Brewers. They are incredible at what they do. But I think they have basically maxed out what they'll be able to do in this league.

    They've been that kind of team nearly every year and their current regime has won exactly one championship out of it. Last year. That COVID clown show doesn't count.

    Not sure the Packers are good enough to break hearts. For better or worse.

    Well, that's the thing. If you do that against the Cubs the spade is called a spade, but you do it against the Dodgers and it's obviously because they have so much money. I'm not saying that's wrong, but it's not hard to look at the Dodgers last 15 years and see a looooot of October losing to supposedly inferior teams. Really, the Dodgers should have a lot more wins there than they do. I think we're probably letting the Brewers off the hook a bit. We are absolutely less talented, but this offense didn't help itself at all either night.
