  1. There was a guy at 41 I think until yesterday. Fun game, I usually forget to play though. At some point, someone's gonna do it.
  2. Fox Sports terminated its relationship with Sling. Really lame. Anyone use a different streaming service? I'm sure there has to be one, but there are so many I'm not aware of one that has FSNWI.
  3. The FAQ regarding the new policy has a section about giveaway backpacks. It basically does say straight from them that you'll be allowed to have them, or the ones you buy in the team store, but don't come back with them. A bit funny I guess, but not really any different from buying anything else there you can't walk back in with. Like a beer. It'd be gross and old, but I don't think getting a promo item after you walk in and being barred from coming back with is really all that unexpected or contradictory.
  4. This team has one team that should make them even have to play hard in the East and that's Philadelphia. I can give them the "new to the big stage" pass for last season. But this team has to be in the Finals next season. No excuses left. This roster is now better than it was last season. I'm not expecting anything substantially more than 8-9ppg and 15 minutes from Korver. But just keeping people honest when he's on the floor and hitting a couple shots is all they need.
  5. Probably but the deal was structured to cut him after two years, basically. If he has a resurgence there might be a chance, but I would bet on him getting cut. I don't think they could do that this year with their TE group.
  6. Again I have a minor issue with calling it cap related. Couldn't you say that any move is "cap related"? I don't think they want Daniels. $8m for ill-fitting DL is just not a wise thing to do. Yeah if he was making $600k they would probably keep him. But all of their DL can do multiple things. I don't think there was any chance he was getting extended beyond this season anyway. 31 y/o declining DL do not stick around very long. Just because you keep a less talented player doesn't really mean it's a cap-related issue. A less talented 23 year old makes more sense to retain than a 31 y/o DL coming off injury.
  7. That's what I believe. I don't think they value Daniels skill set at all. He is the only bulky stout DL they have, something they are moving away from. They could have kept him if they wanted to. Graham is different. They have nothing at TE, plus, he really wasn't a bad player. Factoring in how bad the entire offense was last year, he put together a nice season. I'm not saying he's the same guy he was 5 years ago, but I still think he's productive. I have no issue with him being on the team. And I think he's a sleeper candidate for a pretty good year. If the offense is back to where Rodgers can be, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see 10 TDs. All they need him to be is a RZ guy.
  8. For 5 million you wouldn't have wanted to bring back Cobb? Sure, he's injury prone and he's not likely to ever have a 1300 yard season again, but that's a helluva value for Cobb. Wanting them gone when they were grossly overpaid is one thing, but wanting them gone just regardless makes little sense to me. Matthews, I wouldn't pay what the Rams paid, but I'd have tried to bring him back. He's also just 28 years old and only 3 years older than Allison, a guy who's been banged up 2 of the 3 seasons he'd played and who is not nearly as good of a fit in the slot as Cobb. I mean, I love St. Brown and MVS, just their physical attributes, but Cobb was a proven slot receiver and he was probably one of the best bargain signings of the off-season and is a perfect fit in Dallas with that OL, Zeke and Cooper. Matthews I just wanted back because of his versatility and again, not at the price the Rams paid. Not that it's too high, but too high for us for protection at multiple positions. But, they're both gone now, as is Mike Daniels and the Packers are doing things differently. I suspect they'll find fewer guys who take hometown discounts, but that's fine. As long as they're aggressive in solving problems like they did on the edge and safety this past off-season. No, I wouldn't. They plateaued long ago and I would rather see kids on the field. Adams plus the rest of the guys who have a couple seasons under the belt should be the crew now. Cobb misses time every year or plays badly banged up. He's a great guy, nice rapport with Rodgers on busted plays, but was the poster child for time to move on. Matthews is the same. They both might still be decent players but I'd rather someone else roll that dice.
  9. I'm pretty sure he was on the receiving end of the "savages" rant a few days ago... Yep, that's him. Brennan Miller. I'm sure the goal was to intimate the newbie. Glad he just stood there like a pro.
  10. Here's hoping against hope that Cain needs 5 months off and doesn't just suck at baseball now.
  11. My 100% baseless guess was always that there was at minimum an unspoken feud brewing between among Counsell/DJ/Stearns - Counsell is the Chosen One and if guys want their coaching careers to develop there is nowhere to go when you reach the level DJ did. That combined with who is really calling the shots regarding the pitchers. It made perfect sense for him to leave.
  12. There was no reason for DJ to come back. The only thing that could happen is that he'd get exposed or lose credibility. Bolting when he did was 100% the right thing to do for him - cash in on what the bullpen did last year.
  13. You are ignoring the fact that he has lifted the pitching staffs on two different teams. I will never understand how some just underestimate the loss of Johnson and the obvious downgrade to Hook. Nobody is saying they wouldn't take him back. They are saying the pitching coach is not a 12-WAR contributor and has limited influence. This DJ nonsense is over-simplifying a complicated thing.
  14. DJ didn't blow out Knebel's arm and he has nothing to do with Shaw hitting .160 and Aguilar waiting until mid July to be decent or Wade Miley playing somewhere else. This idea that a fat old coach is responsible for 15+/- wins is ridiculous and embarrassing. He was, at most, a mistake that a really good team should've overcome - if it was even possible to keep him around, which it may not have been. It's just getting really old imo.
  15. Well one point of front-loading would be getting the player to sign for potentially less than he might get elsewhere.
  16. Martinez is an impending FA, Clark is after 2020. It may be freeing up cash to front load an extension for Martinez. But I don't think it was really cap thing. They don't value what Daniels does in this defense as a one-dimensional player and it's a lot of money for a guy you don't think is a cornerstone.
  17. I think it's about as close to 0 as you can get. They absolutely can't afford that going haywire. They give out that kind of money for an elbow that blows up in year 2 and they are toast. Maybe there is a perfect storm year where they feel one starter away from contention and the market is dry and they can give someone 1-2 years, but I really can't see a blockbuster deal like that going down.
  18. The Brewers aren't going to sign a TOR starter to a 7-year deal worth $200m. I assume that's what he meant. It's either going to be an in-house guy who walks right after arby or a terrible, small market team selling off their in-house guy one year before FA.
  19. The baseball luck pendulum swung hard the last two years in opposite directions for the Brewers. A handful of guys exceeded expectations last year and many of the same guys all sucked at once. As far as him acquiring guys. Miley was good. Cedeno was pretty useful. Probably still have to consider Chacin being a good add.
  20. Knebel is probably the biggest nightmare of the year. He's one guy, and they've had a lot of problems. But maybe if you have him, it's easier to justify getting one more good arm for the pen. He was the most sure thing they had coming back, a certified blue chip talent that wasn't just getting lucky.
  21. Honestly, I'm kind of happy to see them just finally making these kinds of moves that Ted Thompson didn't. https://www.packersnews.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/2019/04/29/silverstein-why-mike-daniels-no-longer-right-fit-packers/3580870002/ This highlights why this isn't all that shocking - although at $7.6m, I'm a bit surprised they weren't able to get a 5th rounder or something for him. Guess that number is a bit too high or others have noted the drop off.
  22. He took a massive step backwards last season. He is a large man, just turned 30, and linemen don't get better once they start getting worse. Writing was on the wall for this one as he was an impending FA anyway. Lowry signing an extension - though they aren't the same tech - showed where they are putting the future.
