  1. You were mockingly saying earlier "I see this is a season's over week". Like literally in this very game thread. That wasn't "mocking", it was how this season has gone.
  2. Gut wrenching loss. Seems like there have been 15 dramatic comebacks we've gone on to lose this year. I'm with whoever said they're ready for this to be over. It's easier to stomach 56-106
  3. Agree he'd be fine if he played all the time. I'm just as annoyed though with how some talk about Grandal.
  4. Because this team sucks. People need to get this through their head so we don’t need to go through this every night. Why would you invest a ton of money in the titanic. It would be like a goof investing in Kodak after the iPhone came out I honestly don’t know why we gave any assets away in July. Maybe he felt he had to appease message boards Can you stop?
  5. I see this is a "season's over" week, so next week should be about the likelihood of catching the Cubs. If it keeps up like this the final weekend should be the latter.
  6. That's kind of what I meant in more words. I've never tried doing anything like that, but the prices fluctuate when people try to do this sort of thing. There's just no way to know how a game will do. Last year's playoffs I maxed out the allotment every game, then when the schedule came out there were a bunch of games at 2pm or whatever. I couldn't go to all of them, and I can't remember which games, but there were a couple I lost money on. I want to say it was NLCS Game 6 and some of the NLDS. I remember NLCS 6 being a real problem to sell. I went to that one, but I couldn't find enough people I actually knew willing to pay face to go with me.
  7. SH charges a fee on both ends though. So that $45.75 is relevant only to the buyer. That's a $35 list price, so the seller is walking away like +16. I think I would just go to the game. It's fine, but the people real money are brokers buying 800 seats, not Joe Simpleton with his pair in the terrace. I think people have this image of SSHs rolling around in buckets of cash when the Cubs come to town. The margins also (usually) get a lot worse if you leave the terrace.
  8. I find that quite hard to believe. You can go on Stubhub right now and find games for the September series at $45 each with fees, and those will likely plummet as the game draws nearer. The Friday night is even worse with many below face. Granted that is after school has resumed. If I listed my July Cubs tickets at "twice face" they would've gone unsold. The ones on there now are 1-2 on the value system. You may have gotten extremely lucky with early birds, but I typically have 1-2 Cubs games a year I end up missing and while they do sell better than any game, it's not this cash windfall people act like it is. Honestly, I usually can't get face after fees with Brewers re-sale. I almost always get above that with the Cubs but after Stubhub takes its cut I usually net $5. Opening Day is a lock for making money. The Cubs games have many more variables.
  9. I also think those are dumb. Interleague play is one of few things that would motivate me to see a specific game in person, and they waste the slots on Tuesday night.
  10. Getting cash on the Cubs games is kinda overstated. I sold off 7/27 and 9/6 and I was/am not going to be in town, on Stubhub. While they do sell better than any other game, it was barely above face and those are weekend games. In the years I've sold opening day it sells far better than any Cubs game. There are years I've recouped 1/4 of the ticket package on that one game. I doubt it really goes much higher than usual. Terrace seats can hit $80, for whatever reason OD sells about as well as the NLDS.
  11. Bet the Bears suck. No actual analysis for that statement, just the random type of thing they seem to do after a good season. I'd take the Packers to win both of those games but fart some other time and finish 9-7.
  12. Are the Packers incapable of signing a decent veteran quarterback that has had some success somewhere ever? Seems like a task force needs to be formed in GB to take on this seemingly impossible thing... I agree and said so above. But when you tie up that kind of capital in Rodgers that's what you get. You sink or swim with him. But $5.5m for Fitzpatrick doesn't sound all that bad to me. I'm just using him as the example. But I long for the days when we had Ty Detmer, Mark Brunell or Matt Hasselbeck if things went South. Most teams with big name QBs are in the same boat.
  13. I’m focusing on the Brewers team as it is constructed today and the way it has played the last two months. Until the little four game winning streak (thanks, Pirates) the Brewers had the second worst record in the NL since the middle of June when they last reached ten games over .500. Comparing the Brewers regularly losing series to bad teams to the Yankees losing one series to the Tigers is ridiculous. Today’s Brewers are a pretty bad team with a makeshift starting rotation, a collapsing bullpen in which even Hader is unreliable, and an underachieving offense. Their next 25 games are against teams that currently have winning records. If they are still in realistic contention after those games, I will be surprised. We can make any team better or worse if we decide to cherry pick what games we're counting. You watch the Brewers, but I have a feeling you could find doom and gloomsmen for most teams that would say the team is in dire circumstances and has looked terrible for the last week, 2 weeks, month, etc. If we are really bad, what is Pittsburgh for the last month? It's hyperbole to call this team really bad. It's average.
  14. Winning 2/3 of your last nine isn't a collapse. Lol, it's just not.
  15. The Cubs last series was a 2-1 split with St. Louis. They went 16-12 in September, and took a series over us in mid Sept. They had an 18-10 August. They were 6-3 in their final nine. They had a close to average September at the wrong time, but there was no collapse. The Brewers just started winning at a pace that was nearly impossible to keep up with. One of the biggest fallacies about last year is that the Cubs collapsed. I've read that hundreds of times and it's just not what happened.
  16. I still really think Kizer is fighting for a job. Boyle isn't getting cut. I'm just not convinced they're keeping three and Kizer looks "solid" just like Hundley did.
  17. Pretty sure the way it works is that you have a limited number of games in which to win while hoping those in front of you lose. The longer you go without gaining ground, the harder that is to do. Kind of a weird, smug comment. I'd still be surprised if we win the central, but the Cubs have a road game deficit to make up, and they are a horrible road team.
  18. Probably, but whoever it is, I would be pretty surprised if they get more than 3 innings, unless the guy is straight dealing.
  19. I would guess Gio or Chase, pulled for Hader at the first sign of trouble and hopefully 3 innings out of him. Much like Game 7.
  20. There are ways to stand up for people that don't involve throwing things, screaming at umpires and shouting profanity. Until a player says Counsell doesn't stand up for his players, that kind of criticism holds zero weight imo.
