  1. Giannis has 8 points on 2 of 7, Bucks down by 2. Good luck Boston. Going to need it to win a best of 7.
  2. Meh, it's the NBA. This lead could disappear in four minutes.
  3. Broadcaster could afford to hop off Boston a bit.
  4. I was just pointing out that Family Guy is about mindless as it gets. It's a show that requires minimal creativity and is just a nonstop random joke gag. "Remember the time I did that crazy thing," insert random thing Peter did. "Oh, you mean like that one time when..." insert current event gag. You can sit down and watch any random episode and still get it. I don't even dislike the show and think it has been incredibly funny, but that's what it is. The episode of South Park where they mocked it was making that point and was pretty spot on. If I were comparing to South Park, there's really no comparison in terms of ingenuity. That's fine, because you don't have to be ingenious to be funny. This is also why it's remained relevant so long. Because its formula is timeless and it never tries to be more than it is.
  5. Bucks in six. Celtics in 5 is funny to me. Really? This is a team Jason Kidd's Bucks pushed to 7. The Bucks were dominant all year. Everyone seems to have to given Boston a pass on the regular season, and I can't help but feel they're only doing that because it's a storied franchise. I do think they're talented but after 82 you are who you are. The Bucks are a better team.
  6. Family Guy trying to make this joke is pretty funny and not in the way they wanted it to be
  7. GoT never pulled me in. I watched the first two seasons and found it to be good, a worthy time killer, but I never saw it as this unbelievable masterpiece I had to stop time for. Breaking Bad was a much better all-around show in my opinion. Just more creative and better written.
  8. Think it deserves a thread as it's going to be perhaps the biggest cinematic event of some of our lives thus far. Boldly exclaim spoilers if you're going to get into that. I'm seeing it tonight at 6pm. I have super high hopes and have really enjoyed so many of these films.
  9. I really doubt Santana ends up being one that got away. He had a good start to the year but he is what he is. Anyone is the one that away when you're left with Mendoza performance levels but there was not a lot of opposition to trading him on multiple occasions. When he was hitting .160 in June he was the BF lightning rod.
  10. It's been two guys, but Santana would look good at 3B right now.
  11. Nothing says "Let's throw crap at the wall" quite like constantly shuffling guys between SP and RP
  12. All the innings are garbage when you are losing 100% of the time.
  13. I think they will end up being realistic about things and ride this out for the most part. If they actually think these guys have futures as good starters then at some point you take your lumps and accept a 78-win season and keep building in a responsible way. It would not seem all that smart to me to make a deal of any consequence for a SP at this point. From what we have seen, this team is a lot further from good than Keuchel or Kimbrel or something like that. If this isn't a good team this year , well that's super depressing and it sucks, but it is still a pretty sustainable group at the moment. But this team doesn't need a SP, they need like three of them, and that doesn't solve your bullpen problem. This group looks terrible.
  14. I've made that 2012 comparison a lot around here and sadly I think it's going to be right about where things end up. They'll start scoring a lot eventually. But these guys can't pitch. Most MLB SP, even average guys, can toss 4 innings. If your pen is incredible you can win doing that. Except we can't get through the first 3 innings anymore. And the pen can't protect anything. If you look at the offense on that 2012 team, it's impressive, in a bad way, that it didn't win more. That was one potent offensive team. I don't think this offense will be long ball or nothing all year, but I don't think they can pitch. They gambled big time on the young starters and the worst case scenario is unfolding - all three are wildly unreliable. And it looks much bigger than getting one starter or Kimbrel.
  15. I stopped tuning in yesterday. I know I'll be back, but it feels especially dumb when they're in one of these skids. Idk what to feel. "It's April" is starting to run thin, especially since I was saying it when they were winning and their record seemed kind of unsustainable. I don't really blame the F.O. either because I really believed this team was going to have a really big year. I'm not really feeling this is a team that needs to break out of a funk...I'm more seeing a genuine talent void. It stinks, and makes me really stew on that Game 7 and what we could have had that night.
  16. It's sad that this is good.
  17. Again, Nashville stated their happiness with that relationship as late as 2012. Specifically citing the great talent pipeline the Brewers supplied. Two years later the Brewers and their terrible players are to blame for Nashville's problems. I have a hard time believing that. And we can cherry pick Nashville all we want, but it doesn't change the fact that the attendance isn't really reflected in the spiel they're doling out. Not just in Nashville, but all over MiLB.
  18. That was what they said publicly but it didn't really reflect reality. They were for the most part competitive with Milwaukee. There was also not a lot of fluctuation in their attendance between having guys like Fielder and Weeks there vs. later on. There was some, but it wasn't super drastic. As recently as 2012 they extended the contract with MKE and specifically stated how great the Brewers were at always providing them with quality players. Then two years later were very vocal about how much they hated the Brewers and their inability to provide talent. So I don't buy it. Last year was their 2nd best attendance year ever and they were barely above .500. I'd guess their recent success has more to do with Nashville itself exploding, specifically with younger people and its somewhat newfound reputation as a party town.
  19. I'd call that a pretty poor example. They were above .500 during their affiliation with Milwaukee and they play in Nashville. It's not exactly a community lacking in things to do. If they're unhappy with the relationship for any reason, they're obviously going to blame the Brewers. Just looking at 2018's numbers there doesn't appear to be a real correlation betweens wins and attendance. It's all over the place. Making the game fun appears to be a much bigger driver than winning. Safe to say that most of the community here loves baseball, so I think we're getting a little bit of bias there. Most people at an MiLB game are just looking for something to do and heard Darius Rucker is singing after the game. Plus they can have six beers for $10.
  20. I believe Charlotte won the attendance title last year and was either last place or second to last in their division
  21. I'm really not sure I buy into that at all. Minor League Baseball is about over-the-top promos, goofy mascots, $2 beers and $1 dogs, and a sense of community. I really don't think attendance is all that dependent on winning. If you're in San Antonio and want to see a winner you're spending hard-earned money on the Spurs, not the Missions. You're going to a Missions game to have some low cost fun and maybe see a couple prospects. I think you might be drastically overstating the number of people who not only care how the team does, but can even name a couple guys on the field. The teams that draw really well usually do so because they've made the game day atmosphere a fun gathering. I've been to a lot of MiLB games and never got the sense that anybody was really invested in what was taking place on the field.
  22. That's because the NBA has always been a league of stars, even before they started playing with each other on super teams. If you had Michael Jordan, or Karl Malone, or Magic Johnson, or Kareem, you were going to be a top seed, and you were going to win most of the time. One guy can't dictate a game like that in any of those other sports. It only becomes unpredictable when they have to play each other.
  23. He won't be hitting .200 in June, but he would probably go from playing 2/3 of the time to 1/3 of the time.
