  1. Rodgers didn't. He was apparently one of Favre's pals and a big player in all the harassment Rodgers endured at their hands early on.
  2. That's pretty ordinary fodder. They've done that over the years with so many guys. Craig Nall, there was a lot of buzz around Ingle Martin taking over Rodgers's spot in the hierarchy back in the day. It's all just coach speak to me. I think it's more likely they know if Rodgers gets hurt they are toast anyway so they didn't want to spend a lot on a vet. I was just putting it out there though. If they adore a guy I wouldn't be surprised if a R1-3 pick is a QB.
  3. Just pointing this out...the Packers have jack behind Rodgers, and he is the same age Favre was when they drafted him...
  4. Also, you're not the first person who's told me Game 1 is Saturday, but it's Sunday.
  5. The seeding went how I wanted. I wanted to avoid Miami, not that I thought they were a serious threat, just preferred Detroit to them or Orlando. More importantly, I spent the last couple weeks hoping Toronto and Philly would end up 2-3. I really didn't want to get Philly in the second. Philly is a real concern for me. I think if we don't win the east it's gonna be their doing. Boston I expect to kick it up a notch now, but they and Toronto don't scare me in seven games. Philly is just so deep and physical. It's going to be fun. With Steph hurt who knows what can happen.
  6. Yeah I'm not sure I agree Chase Canaveral can be counted on for anything other than mop-up right now. Nelson will probably be pitching with the Brewers before Memorial Day, but I don't think he's going to be in the rotation out of the gates unless they said that and I didn't see it. I assumed he would start working out of the pen.
  7. I feel like Nelson is a long time away from the rotation. Woodruff is gonna start all year if not hurt, I think. He is the cream of the crop. But all three have already looked good enough at times to justify just running with them.
  8. We've been talking about how bad the pitching is so long that enough time passed and it's no longer all that bad. 6 IP and 4 ER on some really lame base hits. Similar to Chacin's last outing, the offense has to be better.
  9. The sky was falling at 1-1, it went back up for a while and now it's back down. We may be out of sky by May.
  10. Serving up a meatball in a rehab start is ok, doing it every night in AAA is...not good. I am fearing the worst with JJ.
  11. This team has a solid vet starter in Davies, who has been just that for several years and is off to a really nice start. Chacin will settle in. What they need is better play out of these three. It's that simple. It does not matter if they trade for Clayton Kershaw, these three have to start playing better. There are still too many problems offensively too. There's going to be regression, but your 1B cannot hit .100. You can't have zero walks from the 3 hole. Some of these things will be non-issues in a month. I am more concerned about the lack of actual talent in the pen than the rest of it. You hope Nelson and JJ are lifts, but I'm starting to feel like JJ is the bigger long shot there. Look around the NL tonight, as of now 8-4 is a tie for the best record. The Phillies lost 14-0. Stuff happens, but a lot of April is noise. I'm not sure what to think yet.
  12. That was one of the weakest "robbed" home runs I've seen. Little theatrical there trying to get on Sportscenter.
  13. The experience you have with any streaming service is highly dependent not just on the ISP but also the television. Hulu for example has compatibility issues with some Sharp models and another brand or two due to the built-in apps a lot of the TVs have. It runs seamlessly on one TV and bugs constantly on another. Sling runs remarkably better on my TV closer to my WiFi router. I have a first-gen Roku on a spare TV in a bedroom and things are very choppy sometimes on that old software. I don't use streaming because it's cheaper than cable, I use it because the original programming is vastly better. Sling for local sports, the rest of it I could really take it or leave it. $25 Sling + $15 Internet + $9 Netflix is hard to beat. I'd get rid of it all before I got cable.
  14. Early, I wouldn't move anyone around just yet. However, I'd be lying if I said 2012 isn't in the back of my head. A very talented team that came off a good run, that underestimated some really important departures. That team was 30-20, and I believe something like 36-24, until there was a regression to the mean and the mediocre bullpen caught up to it. They wound up around .500. There are too many good baseball players on this team for it to be really awful, but I'm beginning to think that the pen may have a talent problem.
  15. I really couldn't care less about Jeffress getting guys out. If he is throwing hard the rest will figure itself out.
