  1. I was definitely the least concerned with Woodruff, but I was most concerned with Peralta. I figured Burnes would have struggle days and end up somewhere between 4.25-4.75 on the year. I don't think you can move him to the pen so fast, but he needs to figure out what's going on, probably not in Milwaukee.
  2. Burnes needs to be in SA working on location. This isn't working. I'm extremely patient but just trotting him out there to give up moonshots over and over isn't helping anybody. I still think he's going to be good but something is off right now.
  3. If he can OPS .700 on the year that should be enough. He's not a great hitter, but he does have a lot more power than most tiny glove-first SSs that play. Too much is made of his offense. He has to at least make pitchers work, but the strength of this lineup is never going to go through him.
  4. Aguilar is seeing it better lately. I'd like to keep him in there to work through it.
  5. Glad Wilson got used last night now. Kinda makes the "OMG why did they remove CHASE?!?!" insta-reactions sound silly now. There were a lot of really silly insta-reactions last night that didn't make a lot of sense in a game the team had control of pretty handily. Those games bring out the worst of those. If they are losing it's time to sign a free agent.
  6. Not really, because I think the way guys are being used right now is drastically different than how they'll be used going forward. Hopefully Jeffress is formidable this year but at some point Nelson is going to be worked in the pen and Anderson is probably going to get a few starts and be a stretch reliever of sorts. I also think there are 1-3 arms not on the team that will be pitching by August. There are so many potential combos it makes my head spin. I'll just let them deal with it and enjoy the show.
  7. I was whining about our RD about a week ago, until yesterday when I looked at the standings and saw how jacked up they are all over the league. It's just too early. The Padres are sitting in 1st at 11-8 with a -12 RD, 40 behind the Dodgers with the same record.
  8. What fans think Grandal is bad defensively? I'd probably stop asking their opinions. He isn't bad, he's good, but his throws to 2nd have been pretty embarrassing against Pina's.
  9. I think there's a mutual option for Grandal in 2020. I don't think they can afford him long term, or that they should be putting that kind of premium into a 30+ catcher. But yeah, I'd say it's too early.
  10. I haven't really been listening nor did I see any news really. Is there a chance Jeffress pitches tonight? If he is available a stable lead holds it would seem like a good spot to try getting him work.
  11. And I'm not panicking or worried about this being a season-long trend yet, just saying that's getting pretty liberal with the phrase "fared well."
  12. They are 4th in all of MLB in Win Probability Added, so yes. I'm sure I can cherry pick a stat that makes them look not very good. The reality is if your name isn't Hader or Guerra everyone's heart is in their throat when you pitch...those two have been outstanding.
  13. I'll always remember the preseason SSH conference call where the guy was furious we signed Grandal because Pina and Kratz were amazing
  14. I wasn't implying they're going to be a paper tiger because they have been in the past, I'm saying that I don't think they're really much better. I wouldn't trust Toronto against the top teams in the West or to beat the Bucks. If they played Philly in a series I would peg Philly, personally. It's all gonna play out before us, but for me the 76ers are what is in the Bucks way of winning the East...again, oddly enough.
  15. Seeing Hardy's name just led me to thinking about how Fielder, Weeks, Hardy and Hart are all out of baseball. Not that they're young by MLB standards. But I would have guessed at least one would hang on for the geezer experience.
  16. I just don't see the Raptors as a lot better than the post season paper tiger they have been. They had a net gain getting Leonard I guess, but I'm just not really scared of them. The night they beat the Bucks, they shot 45% from 3. And still didn't really blow them out by any stretch. I just don't think they can bring that 4/7 times.
  17. They definitely have a first-mover advantage of sorts in that nobody has really had to defend a team that plays the way they do. The recent GS teams had similar deep shooting prowess but they really didn't have anybody like Giannis to complement it. It has been a brilliantly built roster and coached team. The West is a far better conference top to bottom, but I'm really not sure anybody has the power to match them besides Golden State out of the West. I think the reg. season games with Houston are about how a series with them would go - there is just too much power and not enough defensive there to stop the Bucks. Denver couldn't really slow them down either. Their biggest threats to me are obviously GS, followed by two East teams oddly enough. I'd go Philly, just due to the star power 1-5, and then Boston a bit behind them, just because of the way they played the 2nd half and just an uneasy feeling that they haven't peaked yet. You have to like our chances though.
  18. They're scaring me a bit less than earlier in the year due to the fact that I think they are on the verge of slipping, and the Bucks might actually be extremely good, East or not. I've seen this a lot in the NBA where the top team kinda dogs it and then turns on another gear, and I'm still sort of expecting that from GS. But the reality of the Bucks winning a title has gone from about 5% in February to more like 30% for me. It's a great situation for the Bucks. I expect they'll get pushed in the East (not assuming they win East, but they are the clear class right now) but whoever comes out of the West is going to have to endure a bloodbath and THEN get the Bucks - if they make it.
  19. I was going to say exactly this. Sit courtside once and you will have a new appreciation for what these guys are doing. Not only are they absolutely massive, but the speed of the game does not at all come through on TV, nor does the brutality of a lot of the contact under the rim that occurs away from the ball and is missed by everybody including the officials. If you have never played a true contact sport like boxing, wrestling, etc., you won't really have an appreciation for how exhausting from a cardiovascular stand point direct contact is either. If they are lollygagging, it is because they are exhausted or intentionally picking spots like somebody like LeBron. You cannot simply sprint up and down the court at full speed for this 37 minutes. The NBA players are by far the best conditioned of the major three sports.
  20. If I'm them I'd consider a version of that. It's probably enough for him to play 2.5 quarters. If they go up 3-0 I'd consider a very light Game 4.
