  1. Yeah, I just think it's silly to use a "scientific method" to proejct how many wins a guy is worth in replacement value over half a season. His performance is completely unpredictable, and you will never be able to prove how many wins he was worth. I just get tired of his science. This is the same person who said it was basically impossible (and used some other formula to "prove" it) for the Brewers to catch the Cubs when they were 9 games back or so in early June. I said it was way too early, and it was. Some things are unpredictable and crazy things happen all the time in sports. I don't trust probability and ratio and that nonsense for a second.
  2. I know what he meant, but the guy is always throwing out some stat or some ratio to prove some roundabout point ... it just gets annoying. I don't care what stat you can find, when you replace your worst SP with CC Sabathia your team becomes a lot better. If it's not a big deal why doesn't every team fill a rotation with five Seth McClungs. I don't mean to mean to offend but anyone who thinks this isn't a colossal move for the Brewers has to take a step back.
  3. First off, there is no way you can definitively say this will net two wins, you just can't. You can pull out any stat you want but you cannot prove how many wins this helps the Brewers get. I don't believe for a second that Sabathia is worth two wins, but that's not even the point. Do you want the Brewers to be in the playoffs throwing Sheets and Suppan in game 1 and 2 or Sheets and Sabathia? The Brewers got a hell of a lot better today.
  4. With Sabathia here, the chances of Yo pitching in October went from very slim to none.
  5. This is a done deal folks. Just a matter of time, welcome to Milwaukee Mr. Sabbathia.
  6. Sorry, I don't have one, but there are a couple on eBay.
  7. Gary Sheffield homer to tie it 2-2 in the bottom of the 9th.
  8. I agree with all of this. And guess what? Each person who buys from LOTF is one less person in the players' lot shoving a kid out of the way for an autograph. I guarantee there are good number of kids who are sent in to get autographs.
  9. I think you meant thanks "guy." But yeah, I noticed that in the description and laughed.
  10. I would first try a cheap best offer or two with this guy. Don't be afraid to start low ... they will usually counter with their lowest price. I've bought from that seller before and he's been great. Good luck.
  11. Here. Those pop up on eBay all the time. I doubt it goes higher than $30.
  12. Why does the post above me say 6/24/25 at 2:14 PM? Was my nap 17 years long?
  13. I want the Cubs/Brewers NLCS. The idea of blocking them for the 100th year is just too great. And then their fans having to deal with the Brewers winning the World Series. It would be great. I'm only 22, but my favorite baseball moment of all time are the shots of those fans literally sobbing at the 2003 NLCS. Oh man was that awesome. http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/4382670348be42e0ae2b5d65277db9a8739318d5.jpg

  15. The guy on Brewers.com is either RickieWeeksJr or one of his buds, because they both use the MR comment in one of their posts. Seems like a pretty odd detail to bring up. I know you said the guy hijacked other threads with his complaints, which is uncalled for and not the way to deal with it, but after reading that thread, to be honest, I just don't see why a strike was issued in the first place. It didn't seem like the guy he was talking to really cared at all, and FWIW I've seen worse go unpunished here. I think if the roles were reversed, there's no way that gets a strike. Just my opinion, but maybe there's more to it than I can see. I can't see the other threads.
  16. I'm assuming you meant nasty PMs to the members here. If he were sending PMs to the players that would be a new level of absurdity.
  17. Someone over there said Ben Hendrickson's dad posted here? Please tell me I can see that somewhere.
  18. I agree with this. And I think you can add television broadcast booth to this too. People ALWAYS complain about who the announcers are and want to see them get fired. I don't get it.
  19. I was speaking more to the fact that they're the Reds and no one cares about them, but yeah, that's a great point. Realistically I don't think a case can be made for anyone but Volquez. The Cy Young could be a very different story, as in the past, that has sometimes gone to pitchers with higher ERA and more wins - guys from winning teams. I think it's a bunch of garbage, but that's the way it is. If the Brewers make the playoffs, I think Sheets is a big time Cy Young candidate. I also don't think Volquez's numbers will hold up by the end of the year.
  20. He's been phenomenal, no doubt, but Volquez has been unreal. Tops in ERA and strikeouts, the ERA is ridiculously low. The only thing that hurts him is that he plays for the Reds. But as good as Sheets has been, I can't justify starting him over Volquez.
  21. It's got to be Volquez. An ERA under 2 for a starter is sick.
  22. Any BF.net deals? Unfortunately the stuff I do have to trade is too valuable, mostly minor league bobbles of Braun and Fielder. If anyone is selling, I need one. I could possibly be going to Barrel Man, in which case I'd have a few extras.
  23. Who's shelling out big money for some of the crap that they sell, that's what I'd like to know. People who don't know any better. Although I've bought a few things from their eBay auctions. They have some nice stuff. Occasionally there will be a sale item you can add a coupon too and it comes out to just about market value. One thing about LOTF is that you know you're getting authentic stuff. Don't underestimate that in today's memorabilia market. Their Corey Hart stuff is nice, and not (at least it wasn't last year) too expensive. The key with them is cashing in before guys blow up, and you can get some sweet, authentic stuff. Once Prince hit 50 and Braun won the ROY, the prices became a joke. But I got this from them for $29 total before last season. http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/16626443c8b6821fa72ba76c952dfd75ea6bc68c.jpg Not the best picture, but it is a signed, framed and matted 8x10 of Fielder with an engraved plaque. It reads "A rookie year for the ages, Limited edition X of 28." Can't remember what # mine is.
  24. I'd rather just stick with the order. I like the idea that when we get to September everyone should be relatively fresh compared to the rest of the league.
  25. One of the edgiest comedic voices of all time has been silenced. Link
