  1. I think this is a pretty big game. We have a 6-game lead if we lose, sure. But this is really Miz going into the pressure cooker here, he has a real opportunity to silence some doubters as his novelty is starting cool off with injury/reality. If he gets shelled you can believe the troll brigade will be out in full force. It is the first big test of his very young career, a hostile environment, division race, playoff-like feel. All that stuff. A strong performance looks really good.
  2. If we don't win the division so be it. Means we choked or backed into the playoffs. At which point I'd probably be pretty hopeless that we do anything and numb to the pain. I think we'll end up the 1 seed. We have consistently been the top team since about the ASG. There are too many stats to support it, too much consistency...it's not like 2 years ago where we won a lot of games but it was hard to make sense of how. None of that means you win the World Series, but I think we'll have the best record.
  3. Not very likely. Phillies have a series with the Dodgers yet. I know people don't like to get confident, but the likelihood of the Brewers finishing behind CHC, PHL and LAD has to be infinitesimally small at this point.
  4. We have a 7 game lead and that should be ok, but it's worth noting we are 5-6 against CHC so snagging the next 2 effectively puts us 10 up. Going 1-1 makes that 7 game lead feel like a 6.5 game lead.
  5. Murphy needs to tread carefully here. You can't throw the farm at this game. The Cubs are, and are barely hanging on. Play this conservatively and hope for magic but this is the one we can most afford to drop.
  6. This one's turning out how I thought and feared yesterday was going to go, so I'm glad we already won a game. Just get 2 and I'm happy.
  7. I really want this one. Getting this game feels bigger than it probably is. Probably just my own delusions but I was sort of dreading a nightmare series after yesterday's lost heroics. Just getting 2 of the 5 is really a win for us, the Cubs needs to make up significant ground this week with this series. Take 4+ and the fat lady is singing.
  8. I believe they could squeeze the game in if they want to. Most of the stuff is set to pass around 8:20. But Chicago is forecast for heavy storms throughout the night. That's what I said.
  9. He was given way too much credit for organizational competence that had zilch to do with him, and it shows. The competitive imbalance in baseball is simply too drastic for a manager to cause the kind of success the Brewers have enjoyed with their limited resources.
  10. What a bizarrely aggressive post when it very easily contradicted. https://weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/l/4c9ff75840c6ce23fa10812d0f14b605af47896e9ca3fd59abdb9edd1b9d486a
  11. I don't think that's true. That was an insane contract and the number of places hiring that were also willing to pay it was limited. But even if it were true, it's Chicago. He barely has to leave. His kids don't have to switch schools, none of that headache has to happen. It was a no brainer for him to leave. I personally think it's pretty childish to begrudge a guy for doing what he did. I can't really personally comprehend getting upset at some coach in his 50s for not coaching my favorite team. Lightheaded ribbing is expected and fine, but actually getting bent out of shape about it or still whining about it 2 years later when we appear to have benefitted from his departure? Who cares.
  12. Chicago is forecasting heavy storms basically all night. That game is almost definitely getting called no matter whose job that is. Our pen could use it.
  13. Shaming a guy for chasing the bag is so laughable lol. Nobody on the planet turns down $8mm a year in their 50s to be a manager. My ONLY gripe with CC was the nonsense about "resetting the bar" or whatever for managers. Dude you wanted money. Just say it. It's fine.
  14. Cubs don't get to break the streak, and probably worse for them to have Cincy win a game. Now just hope they keep losing today.
