Cubs don't get to break the streak, and probably worse for them to have Cincy win a game. Now just hope they keep losing today. -

Idk what DLC is doing on that play. You have to make a quick throw but at worst you live to see another day, you absolutely can't misfire.

I don't mind the bunt. It was a good bunt. Put the ball in play and anything can happen. Yeah not the guy you want fielding the ball, but that was a tough play and he almost pulled it off.

I've watched a quarter more preseason than I ever intended but my God, is this uninspired. This staff really can't get this team to stop committing idiotic penalties.

I never enjoyed it, but I do wish they would let the starting offense play for an entire quarter, then maybe a half in the final game. It's very obvious they're out of sorts at the start of every season. I don't know why it's become kosher to just punt your first 2 games. The entire season is a mess of guys getting constantly hurt anyway. The idea that you're preventing that by not having them play a couple series in the preseason is a bit overzealous for me.

That's probably very unlikely to happen too. The Dodgers and Padres still play each other 6 times and probably have a race to the end. The Brewers falling behind BOTH division leaders at this point would require a faceplant. I think the Brewers could play the final 42 under .500 and still end up #1. An 8 game lead is a big lead. It's not out of the question just yet, but it basically is if they leave the 5 game set next week in the same spot.

Phillies are at home. The Cubs have playing .500 ball on that supposed cupcake schedule for quite some time now. They actually have to start beating cupcakes, which they have not done. It's going to take a lot more than the Brewers going like 2-4 against the Jays and Phils to make up 8 games in 42. The Brewers are 97-65 if they go .500 the rest of the year. Not that that is a guarantee, but the Cubs won't get there.

Call me a dope or say that I'm asking for it, but the division race is over. The Cubs just are not a very good team. They are about .500 over the last 2 months, played offense at an unsustainable clip in April and May and all season, got randomly lucky pitching to an awful lot of contact. They'll probably make the playoffs, but I'm not even certain of that at this point. I am just not worried about a matchup with them at all.

I used to go a lot. My Dad would take my younger brother and I for breakfast every Saturday for like a couple years when we were probably around 12 and 10. I went a couple times drunk in college after hours. I've never had the burgers. Only the breakfast, which was standard diner breakfast, definitely not terrible food, not spectacular, but good. It's been 20 years, maybe it's not even as good as I remember? But I do remember liking it enough that we went every week.

I do think they will be a better team this year than last but I worry it's just the fan in me being hopeful. There is a lot of young talent on the team that should develop. But fans never account for regression either. I think they'll win 11 games. I would +/- 2 wins depending on how Love plays. They'll ultimately sink or swim with the season he has. Their schedule isn't easy but they get a lot of tougher games at home or earlier in the year or both, it seems favorable. To be a real contender they need more than they got last year.
