  1. There's a contingent of posters that proclaim every game lost so they can either be happy about being wrong or gloat that they told you so.
  2. I am not too excited about the Packers but not necessarily because I think they will be bad. They just didn't do a whole lot to excite anyone and they were mostly the same level of team the last two seasons. The big acquisition is Golden. He looks good, but he is what he is, and I am not sure expecting him to be the spark plug that puts us at the next tier is fair. Most of the time, I feel I can peg what the Packers are during preseason. I have usually been able to predict when they won't make the playoffs, what tier they are in, give or take a few games, and barring when they have serious injuries in-season. This year, I really do not know what to expect. I could see this team missing the playoffs entirely or legitimately contending winning the NFC. I don't know if their defense gets better in year 2; we have seen DCs fade after early results. I don't know if Jordan Love is serviceable or the star he looked like he could be. I don't know if their younger guys develop enough to get pressure with a base defense - what is LVN? Are the Lions dropping off? The Vikings without a vet QB? Just lots of uncertainty. You can make a case for anything from 7-13 wins and defend the argument rationally.
  3. No, it's all over. The team that actually has the best record should probably just lay down and die at this point. The inferiority complex of this fan base is so apparent right now. Not just here, but throughout the various boards. Are we a contender or not? If we are, we should be ok. If playing PHI and TOR is that big of a deal, why is the 1 seed so important? We'd play the same teams. If we do lose the division, it's a 3 game series as punishment. It's not like we couldn't win that. Just enjoy what's left of the freaking year, we have a good chance, and hope for the best outcome.
  4. I am enjoying all the talk about how we are doomed because of the schedule yet we just lost to two sub .500 teams. The strength of schedule only seems to matter when it benefits the Cubs. It's assumed that they will just beat anyone with a record worse than theirs.
  5. The schedule wouldn't make a lick of difference.
  6. And yet it if we were 5 games behind, nobody would be acting like it's a sure thing we'd win the division.
  7. I don't think I can handle the month long turmoil of the season being declared over every 3 days as we oscillate between 4 and 7 games up in the standings.
  8. Why stop at $1,000 then? Might as well throw everything you've got at it.
  9. Such a deflator. Megill is officially on worry watch.
  10. We literally can. Losing is never ideal, but we can afford to drop another game to them.
  11. Is it? Because when stuff like that actually happens, 95% of the posts are about how they suck and got what they deserved, lol. The world was ending when we went down to 5 up, season was over.
  12. That's weird. It would be a disappointment, but you can still win a best of 3 and go on a run. My post earlier about a LAD-CHC series was more about one of those teams being forced out right away, not a belief that they are the biggest threats. If the Brewers can't win, those would be first two preferred teams out.
  13. Not worried. I don't believe they will make up 6 games in a month, and if they do, the Brewers are stumbling in, playing poorly, and suffer a deserved fate.
  14. If you believe in silver linings, the possibility of a Dodgers-Cubs wild card series is coming into focus.
  15. Gross but if the team is actually tired, they need to throw them a bone here and there. Seems early in this 19 game stretch to be tired though.
