  1. Golden looks Golden but I hate his number.
  2. It's phony (ok, overblown) because a standalone baseball game is MUCH more left to chance than football and basketball. Best part is, if you look at the >.500 standings, nobody is even good at it except for...the Brewers. They are 16 games over. The Cubs, Dodgers and Phillies are a combined 4 over, and that's all Philly. The other 2 are .500. What's more, most of these bad teams are something like 31-35 against >.500. They're beating them all the time.
  3. There are a million websites out there now, but Fangraphs has the Mets catching the Phillies as more likely than the Cubs catching the Brewers. They are putting us at 93%. The Cubs aren't going to catch the Brewers. The Cubs never really hit a terrible stretch and yet they kept losing ground. The 26-4 stretch killed them. It's not going to happen. The Brewers can revert to average, they can very likely finish the reminder under .500 and it won't matter. But they won't, because they are the best team this year.
  4. Strength of schedule is such a phony thing in baseball. The best teams lose 70 games. A bunch of them to "weak" teams. I've never put any stock into how a schedule looks in baseball.
  5. It was an ideal night. He did his thing and they lost. There hasn't been a single day this season where I regretted him being gone. I was pretty vocal about letting him walk. He's a nice guy. He likes Milwaukee. Great. But he hasn't been good and it was kind of obvious to me that he was a prime example of a guy who was not going to be worth his deal. I don't know what anyone has to be upset about.
  6. McGill possibly never blows the save if the grounder didn't bounce off him and goes straight to 2B where it probably gets fielded cleanly.
  7. Because practice is a controlled environment where every variable can be manipulated?
  8. I have a lot of things from traveling over many years. Probably 30 different hats of different teams across different leagues, and random tees. Go through a lot of hats, some I don't want to get dirty or sweaty...good to have options.
  9. A lot of people have goals of going to every MLB park without any interest in the teams playing. I did go to a Phillies/Nationals game last year but I got decked out in Phillies gear. Mr. Royals doesn't bug me if he's just a Royals fan making the rounds. I don't care what people wear but the Packers jersey is weird unless they're also playing that day. You can't wear a plain tee or get a Mark Reynolds tee at Goodwill that day?
  10. No one initially covered the plate, and it looked for a second like he was just going to have to beat the guy with the ball in a foot race. Not ideal, but I can see how it happened.
  11. That's inexcusably bad. In scoring position already with 1 out and a 3-run lead, and you're picked off 2nd base. Dreadful.
  12. Not sure Mysterio scores anyway. Had to spend half the play making sure it wasn't caught.
  13. Pitcher wins are about as meaningful as infield dirt. He's fine. Good, even. I'd prefer not to have him pitching as a rotation player in October with his penchant for putting guys on base.
