Oh come on. A throwing error does not excuse this performance from Henderson. -
There is one out, and he is getting hammered. Pratt is responsible for exactly what the box says, an error and one of the runs. The rest is Henderson. I could go for some "contributing player" Miz effort right about now. I guess we have this wet fart to compare him to now.

Our defense just hasn't been good in the playoffs. The flash plays have been there, but it's hard to believe we've gone 8-1 with the number of miscues we've had defensively.

I am going in mentally prepared for us to lose just so it hurts less. I would obviously love to have this one...my ideal scenario is we go up 2-1, then 3-1, Rays grab the last home game and we finish this off in 6 in Milwaukee. It would be the least stressful way to go 6 games.

Neither was Mr. Snell. Clearly gassed in the middle of Bauers AB and left in long enough to lose the game for LA. Solely because Roberts knew he had to ride him as long as he possibly could. If he were giving the ball to Ashby or Uribe, Snell is removed from the game probably prior to Bauers even batting. Absolutely no reason for the Brewers to be stretching their starters in these playoffs. Once they get through half the game, you are needlessly playing with fire unless they are going absolutely lights out.

I don't think there was any 4d chess going on with the Rays decisions. It was simply throwing the top guys on normal rest.

Wild talk. Miz is 13 1/3 with 14 strikeouts, a 1.35 WHIP and 2.70 era. Would you like longer starts, yes. Is he off his trailblazing regular season, sure. They have the luxury of yanking him because it isn't worth a 3rd time through the order when you can bring in the league's best pen to make life easier. I shudder to think what would be said about the guy if he were actually giving up runs. He's gotten out of trouble and put them in a spot to win every start. Complimentary player is laughable. Then comparing to Gasser which is really just an insult to how damn valuable Gasser has been. Needlessly logging him 7IP so we can satisfy calling him an ace is how Snell happens.

That play to me was basically the baseball equivalent of challenging a rejected shot in the NBA to see if the ball brushed the shooter's hand on being blocked and awarding possession to the defense. It's the kind of technicality that makes replay stupid and not the intention of its use.

I think way too much has been made of this. It's late October, those kinds of gut-it-out, short starts against the best teams standing are to be expected. The results are what matters and he has positioned us to win in all 3 starts. He's done exactly what you need your #1 to do. You'd want a little more out of the first 2 games, but a 5IP 1ER start is just fine. I'll take every night to hand to our pen.

I'd feel ok if I'm Tampa. Took us to the brink without the top guns. Them eeking this game out would have been a big blow to the Brewers. They are still well positioned here.

I don't really get everyone's hate for Smoltz. He's consistently appreciative of how the Brewers play and worships the organization. He could learn the value of silence, but I don't think he's anti Milwaukee or anything. Feels like that's imagined, like how I imagined Contreras being pinch run for.

I don't love it but I'm not sure you have a choice. You have to empty the tank to get that runner across. 4-1 should be fine for MeGill and Sanchez.
