  1. No, I'm not getting any compensation for this. Just a good deal that I don't want you to miss. Today (and today only) T-Mobile customers can get a free season of MLB.TV. Go to your T-Mobile Tuesdays App to claim it.
  2. Perhaps getting Turang acclimated to the MLB level is a precursor to a Adames trade mid-season? Or at least to give the team options. Not that I want to trade Adames, but I doubt we get to keep him either...
  3. Badgers are currently the last Big10 team playing in post-season tournaments!
  4. So he can play for an owner he agrees with?
  5. To me it is similar to the Packers winning their division or NFC championship. You are happy to win it, but you won't wear it on a Tshirt because it means you didn't win the Super Bowl.
  6. I'm hoping there is a contingency for 2 future first round picks if Rodgers plays for the Vikings in 2024. 😂
  7. I guess I don't know the finer points of arguing with the umpire anymore. 😉 I guess I remember the 80s/90s where you practically had to bump the ump to get ejected. Of course people were always careful not to show up the ump if you wanted fair calls... but I didn't realize it was ejectable... Kind of stupid if you ask me.
  8. I think the signing of Miley was kind of brilliant. If you expect Miley to pitch 180 innings, yeah... bad idea. But if you expect to get a 3.50 ERA level pitcher (or 110-130 OPS+ if you prefer) for half those innings, I think it is a steal for $4.5M. I doubt you could find an equivalent pitcher with a high confidence of producing that level for 180 innings at $9M... And then Ashby isn't fully "blocked" either when he comes back mid-season. If by chance Miley can reach 160 innings (he did 2x out of the last 4), that is just gravy....
  9. Why should the batter be ejected? He didn't like the call, hopped up and down, and pointed to where he thought it crossed the plate. Immature, yes. Ejectable? Didn't seem like it to me.
  10. I think this year will be when we see the real MLF show up. The last years of MM, he just really couldn't change to save his life. Viking CBs were running the WR routes because they saw the same thing so often. I think MLF at least was "fresher" in his creativity. But was the offense on the field because of Rodgers or MLF? Really hard to say. Most likely Love will be more limited in capability than Rodgers (hey, back-to-back-to-back HOF QBs would be awesome, but...), but I'd imagine he'd be more compliant to the game plan than Rodgers would be. Not saying MLF is going to turn into Ried... just saying that I think we will see a more unfiltered MLF offense this year.... good or bad.
  11. Maybe I'm looking too far ahead, but a UW-Cinn final would be interesting. Would Coach Fickell attend? 🤔
  12. There are plenty of good players available at #13 and #15 that I'd want to draft them and and not worry about paying them a 5th year... I'm pretty sure that isn't part of the equation at that point.
  13. I hate to admit it... but I liked Ozzie. I was 8 and really didn't have an affiliation to the Brewers for a couple more years. Northern WI didn't get much baseball, so that is my excuse and I'm sticking to it.... Granted, there was much less to hate about that era of Cardinal players than now, IMO.
  14. The worst fans I've ever seen are Cubs fans at Miller Park. Its like they come to make trouble. My hatred of the Cardinals mostly comes from the players/coaches of the LaRussa/Matheny years and the whole "unwritten" rulebook garbage.
  15. Note that the discussion about people moving on from Favre. What happened after he left the team wasn't part of what people thought about him while he was on the team... that stuff hadn't happened yet.
  16. I can't say that I'm a huge hockey fan, but do enjoy keeping tabs on the WI team. I remember back in in the 90s and 00s it seemed like we were yearly in the discussion for the championship and won several of them. Since then it kind of ebbed and flowed until more recently it has been garbage. Kind of embarrassing that we can't field teams better than warm-climate B10 teams. MN has 3 teams regularly in the championship discussion. Frankly a change was due. A decision on Gard probably is more about his fit going forward with the team than the results on the court. My personal opinion is that he is a great coach and a mediocre recruiter. He seems to regularly get more out of the team than the sum of the parts, but never is able to recruit many exciting "parts".
  17. Doh! Yes, you are correct about Clark. I was looking at old data. Regardless there are ways to survive this offseason if we trade Rodgers. This article lists it at $23M. I'm sure the Packers just keep a few of those in their back-pockets in case Rodgers retires/un-retires as some were concerned about. Not enough to do much in FA, but enough to survive. I'm not worried about Gary. He is still young and athletic. I doubt an ACL at this point is too much of an issue. Certainly not the concern they used to be. This always makes me chuckle when I see people suggest this. If you are going to spend draft capitol to get a QB, you want him in the building ASAP to start integrating with the team. There were reports (rumors) that the Packer front office wasn't happy with Rodger's laissez faire attitude towards learning his new WRs this past offseason (I wasn't at least). No one is going to trade for him... then wait to get him. Doesn't help those rookies that the other team would draft (and not sign?) to sit and wait either. And no, they won't just go show up at the other team's facilities either. Lawyers and insurance will prevent that if NFL rules don't. If Rodgers is traded post-June 1, it is going to be an emergency Favre-esque trade for a 4th round pick because we had no other choice. I think many people identified more with Favre than Rodgers. Favre's deer-hunting, wrangler wearing, lawn mower riding, personality seems to fit more with the regular fan than Rodger's more CA-lifestyle type personality. And especially over the past years as he has either changed or let people know more about himself. Or maybe having been through it once with Favre, we are overconfident that we can do it again with Love. Either way, I'm tired of the drama of it all (some generated by Rodgers, MUCH generated by the media). Once I decided that I don't think we can win a SB in the next year or two with Rodgers, I was set on moving on.
  18. There are at least 3 more things the Pack could do to gain more space this year too: restructure Bahk and Clark and extend Gary.
  19. It is oddly similar and amusing. But not nearly as funny as the Bear's QB situation for the last 30 years. 😝😂
  20. If you are running a race, yes. But when you watch Ford and Savage play, one looks significantly faster than the other, despite very close 40 yard dash times. Sure, Branch's 4.58 might make me pause and look deeper at his play speed, but it in a game a player's speed doesn't always align to his dash time. I'd imagine he is still a mid-first round pick. Honestly, I think the 2nd-4th round safety bunch is more interesting to me anyway. I'd rather see a CB, OLB, or TE in the first round. A CB would let them move Douglas to safety. Van Ness' cone and shuttle times (another position were a 40 yard dash means little) have me interested. He and Gary could be giving people fits for a long time.
  21. Especially for a safety, I'd temper the 40 yard dash with his instincts and game speed. Savage ran 4.36 and Ford ran 4.39. Yet, Ford's game speed looks much faster than Savage's.
  22. I used to enjoy the preliminaries to the draft and FA offseason... but last season should teach everyone that 98.73% of what is out there is clickbait. And worse...it isn't even convincing click bait anymore. I think reporters have figured out that volume is good enough and they don't even need a hint of quality to the reporting. People are too gullible and will go read any piece of trash thrown out there. That is Reason #38 that I'm ready to move on from Rodgers...end the drama. Basically where I was the last couple years of Favre too.
  23. I've unfortunately only watched one game this year and even then... just the second half of last night's game. I guess I was pleasantly surprised by being in the game the entire night despite Purdue's "luster" starting to tarnish. Clearly, they miss a player like Johnny-D. But I think they never really replaced Brad Davison's contributions either. He was very clutch in those late game situations - 3ptr, driving to the basket, and/or drawing fouls. After watching Chuckie grow last year...I was hoping he'd fill those shoes, but it looks like he is about the same as last year. I do believe we lead the league in the loudest rims however. You'd think we could fix that... or is it just our shots clanging off the wrong parts. 😂
  24. Interesting list, but a lot of rose-colored glasses predictions. Any bold negative predictions?
  25. Actually, I thought the Ref was smart in stepping into it. First, he shows he isn't going to be intinmidated. Second, he closes the gap to let him do someting really stupid.
