  1. Two other ways it could impact the Brewers would be on pitching and defense. Houser has been on the cusp of holding his SP spot and I think this will push him a little bit further down the list. Given how many SPs we have right now, I can't see him starting unless there are injuries. Miley might be negatively impacted by this also, but he starts with a bit more margin than Houser. For defense, I think this helps good range defenders like Turang. Huira keeps getting mentioned at 2B occasionally, but this really amplifies his weaknesses there. Tellez is a zero range defensive player, but that might not matter as much at 1B given his expected bump offensively. These are lesser impacts than offensively (for specific players), but still non-zero impacts.
  2. Forget dumb and dumber... Suter should've done the original!
  3. I'm competing for a spot in the starting rotation this spring too... I'm a dark horse candidate as I don't have a contract and can't even get anyone to return my calls...but I'm a candidate. I suppose you bring in 10 guys in case of injury, but I'd say he is an 99.99% chance of being a BP guy. Not quite as long as a shot at starting as me... but closer odds to me than Burnes. ?
  4. I think Jevon gets regular minutes in the playoffs as the PG backup and probably a lot of minutes for certain matchups - when full court harassment is needed (i.e. Jevon and Holiday playing together at guard). I'd say he is playing playoff level BB right now. His scoring is wildly inconsistent, but that is mainly because he doesn't shoot much when he is the 5th or 6th option. But his D has been great and scores when opportunity (38% on 3s - right on his career average). I will be quite upset if Hill plays over Jevon again in the playoffs. I could see Grayson being matchup only type player though similar to last year (i.e. lots against the Bulls, little against the Celtics). Wouldn't surprise me to see another SG on the team come the trade deadline, either.
  5. I think there was one or two with Khris and Ingles both back - very early after their return. But I guess you could say they weren't quite a "full strength" yet. I don't mind the occasional vet-sit night if it wasn't every vet sitting all in one game (i.e. Washington on Jan 1). I almost went to the lone Wolves/Bucks game in MSP last season and glad I missed it because no one played. (I did attend this season and treated to a nice Wolf beat-down by Giannis). But that would stink to pay $$$ for an NBA game and see the Bucks put garbage on the court. Giannis the last several games has been incredible though... 42pts, 10 Reb, 1 Ast 45 pts, 14 Reb, 4 Ast 26 pts, 13 Reb, 7 Ast 27 pts, 9 Reb, 3 Ast 45 Pts, 22 Reb, 7 Ast 43 Pts, 20 Reb, 5 Ast 55 Pts, 10 Reb, 7 Ast 30 Pts, 21 Reb, 10 Ast If we can get the support cast to settle and be healthy...
  6. I think our record is a pretty fair assessment of our team right now. Not great, not terrible. I think there is a small chance they can catch fire and run the SB, but I'd feel way better about that if Gary were healthy and the Rodgers/Doubs/Watson connection was more consistent. As I told a friend (you know...one of those live humans not on this forum), I gave up on my playoff hopes several weeks ago. Beating the Vikings (in smashdown fashion no less) was a great end of the season for me. So making the playoffs and anything they could do after that is just a bonus. (Though finally beating the 49ers in the playoffs might be nice too)
  7. I'm greatly insulted! Correa has to buy his worthless stock just like the rest of us!
  8. Yes, depth at the bottom of the roster is throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks. Some sticks, some falls. ST will sort out some of it (not just results, but coaching working with guys) and some will work out in the minors. Some will be cut and some will spend the year in AAA. Be a fan of any other team...and you will find the same thing happening.
  9. With the shift ban, I figured Houser was going to be impacted more than anyone on the Brewers team (granted, now Miley gets his share of ground balls too). So moving him to the pen or traded seems to makes sense. But that still leaves a between with Ashby and Lauer assuming Miley's contract makes him a lock for the rotation. I think Ashby is due to break out this year, so I'd prefer him start... but it seems easier to put him in the pen over Lauer. Even if Ashby starts in the pen, I doubt he stays there the whole year. If everyone stays healthy, either Houser or Lauer has to be trade bait at the deadline. But on any injury, Ashby is the first one back in the rotation. Should be easy to stretch him back out given you can piggy back him with Houser and/or BP games until he can throw 6 innings. Opening day rotation: Burnes, Woodruff, Peralta, Lauer, Miley Sept rotation: Burnes, Woodruff, Peralta, Ashby, Miley/Lauer/Houser But we need to make it out of ST healthy before all of this is an issue... Good problems to have and a good depth signing.
  10. Well, he didn't change his birthday after being traded... ??
  11. "Dumpster Diving" - it might surprise people to find out that all teams turn over the bottom of their roster by finding someone incrementally better. Occasionally, you find a gem. Rarely does it actually hurt anything or prevent other moves. This season was certainly a season of trades instead of FA signings, but that should be expected by now. Most of our major improvements over the past 5 years has been via trade or internal.
  12. The site at least seems to be pretty accurate for the "typical" trades. While not "scientific", I'd imagine there is a learning algorithm behind the scenes to reflect some reality based on past trades. As for my thought with Yelich, I was thinking salary swaps instead of plan cash as someone above mentioned. But per the site, Yelich and Tatis have almost inverted trade values: Y: -112.2 T: 112.5 I was expecting a more neutral (zero) trade level for Yelich and not such a negative. So even if SD wanted to dump Tatis for some reason and needed an OF, Yelich probably doesn't work there. Even if the site trade values are off a bit, I doubt they are off that much.
  13. Happy New Year! ?
  14. Not that I think this is true... but what if this was a Yelich+ swap to balance salaries? We unjam our OF, save some short term money for flexibility (or Adames/SP extensions), solve SS/3B (Adames/Tatis or Tatis/Adames) and balance out our LH/RH mix. Edit: nvm... I didn't realize how much negative trade value Yelich has (per baseball trade values anyway).
  15. Much like last year, it seems that the defense continues to gel late in the season. Last year it was understandable as the scheme was new. This year it is more surprising. Not that I think Barry should stay, but it is nice to see adjustments made. Individual player performance improvements (i.e.. Walker, Slayton, Douglas, Savage) are also nice too see. Now if we can just find our pass rush. I think that is going to be a challenge in the playoffs if we can't pressure the QBs. If we had Gary still healthy, I'd feel much better about our SB chances.
  16. But we watered the field with magical Lambeau water that only effects the Vikings. In reality, it just means the Vikings aren't used to playing on grass... which would mean they are going to have issues at San Fran or Philly too. Maybe they are praying for the Cowboys.
  17. This from fans of the team that pipe in crowd and artificial noise to gain an advantage indoors.
  18. Totally worth it, but if this is taunting, they could be ranking up millions in fines each week... good grief.
  19. The Bowl games are still interesting IMO despite the NFL draft and transfer portal defections. But you simply can't expect it to be the same as the football team a month ago. Its almost like watching a preview of next year. However, that does make it a total crapshoot on how the game will turn out. I'm sure Vegas "loves" it... Sure looked like the Badgers were going to walk away with it in the first half (probably should've had 2-3 more TD if it weren't for shoe-string tackles). OKST made it interesting at the end. And for the 3rd TO, I was assuming he sat on it as we had enough downs to kill the clock anyway. 4th down and we were at the 10yard line (?)... just have Wolf run around in the backfield and wing the ball up the the air out of bounds.
  20. What is up with Khris' knee? Just being cautious? I was able to watch 1/2 the Bucks game against Boston and they looked good even without him, but I guess they blew up in the second half. Were leading the Bulls all game until late...not sure what happened there either (wasn't able to watch that one either). But yeah... it is preseason games right now...
  21. Yes for next year, not this one. You could bring him in as assistant HC. Not sure what Steno brings for OC level... seems to be strong for the OL, but creativity seemed to drop a bit this year. Yes, skill level players did too, but we never seemed to match skills to plays and kept running things like normal.
  22. So if they trade Rodgers to the Jets, he has some cell phone issues, plays for the Vikings in 2024, loses another NFC championship, and Love is a future HOFer? I'll take it. ?
  23. Now that you mention it, it does very much have the "look at me, I have insider info" ring to it.
  24. I'm reading brewmann's post as sarcasm...both players being old and washed up as typical "Brewer moves" and not necessarily advocating for it... Escobar seems like the type of player we need (hits lefties, plays 3B), but also seems like the end result might be McCutchen 2.0...
  25. Yes, being a HC is very different than being an OC. Many more people aspects you need to manage and far fewer actual football duties.
