  1. I'm rarely recent on my movie watching so bear with me... Saw "Knives Out" and really enjoyed it. Daniel Craig's Kentucky drawl was bad (especially early in the film), but the plot and the twists were excellent. I figured out the how, but not the who of the movie. I had both of Kenneth Branagh's Hercule Poirot movies figured out before the end (Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile - still good movies), but this one had me guessing to the end. On the opposite side, I saw Wonder Woman 1984.... ugh. How bad can a super hero movie be??? I can't think of a single redeeming aspect of this film. It just kept getting worse and worse. Pedro, this is not the way!
  2. I disagree that Love's long or short term future has anything to do with it. The bigger question IMO is can we win a SB with Rodgers in the short term? If the answer is no, then we need to cut bait, get what we can for him and rebuild. If Love is the long term answer great... if not, we bottom out and draft another QB. Holding on to Rodgers just to field a .500 level team is a bad idea. I think LV is probably more attractive to Rodgers than NYJ would be. Those seem to be the big rumors. I could see us trading to Seattle or TB perhaps. And the only other team in the NFC that makes any sense (i.e. a QB away from the SB) would be the Cowboys. It will be interesting to see what Detroit does. Goff played well last year for them. But I can't see us trading in division anyway.
  3. Certainly that would guarantee that Love is a HOF QB with one SB win, right?
  4. I'm convinced that dumping Rodgers is the best direction for us. Not because I think Love will be better than Rodgers during the 23-24 season (though possible), but because I don't think we can surround Rodgers with a SB level team...with his contract anchor around our necks and his desire to bring back all his middle-ling cronies. We can't upgrade the roster and keep him happy at one time. Now, if he renegotiates his contract to lower his upcoming bonus... that might change my mind.
  5. I'm sure Jaire will be thrilled...
  6. It is more than the Viking fans have to cling to!
  7. That was kind of the point of saying it could happen in ST. We have too many players on the 40-man that don't have options so something has to give. If Huira hasn't distinguished himself from the crowd and someone comes knocking for depth and/or backup and/or a reclamation project, I'd guess we would trade him just to save the $2.2M.
  8. No, we won the NCAA championship in 2020!
  9. Wouldn't Rodgers make them a better TV draw? Bump up their merch sales? Butts in the seats isn't the biggest revenue maker anymore...
  10. This is the guy that disowned his family.... I don't see him giving up grudges too easily.
  11. Wouldn't be too surprising to see Huira shopped in ST if there are injuries on other teams. Of course...we might have injuries too.
  12. I'll guarantee Anderson out-hits the Babe this year. I mean the Babe didn't even crack the MLB last year.
  13. No way Rodgers swallows his pride and removes the "draft-night-embarrassment chip" from his shoulder to play for the 49ers.
  14. Digging into his past a bit for a few nuggets: His career minor league numbers are 261/339/416/755. Making it seem that his 800+ OPS years (at age 26 and 27) were his upper end. His career MLB numbers are just about the same: 256/341/410/750. Despite the decline in his bat, his bWAR was still positive the last 5 years (3.0, 3.3, 1.8, 1.3, 0.3). His defensive bWAR is normally slightly above average (0.4-0.8) until last year when it was minimally below (-0.4) 2021 - Left Shoulder subluxation- went on IR twice for this, including the 60 day to end the season. 2022 - Hit IR 3 times, including a left Shoulder strain. So if healthy, I'd guess he'd give us a 750 OPS with decent defense and 1.5-2.0 WAR. That would be a slight offensive improvement on Urias with about the same D.
  15. Wasn't Correa Exhibit A, B, and C? 😅
  16. So the Packers should pick up Purdy to backup whichever of Rodgers/Love remains? (Not sure if that is sarcasm or not...) Actually, I'd expect the 49ers to dump Jimmy G and keep Lance/Purdy as their pair. That would make the most sense, IMO.
  17. No where was I comparing the two except in that GMs passed on good players. Warner and Romo were good examples also. I was thinking Case Keenum as a more accurate QB comparison. Flynn was a much smaller sample, but apt also.
  18. But does the MLB.com own a Delorian?
  19. Basically the same as Tom Brady. And in actuality, 32 GMs passed on both multiple times. Just one finall picked them late in the draft. Some people just exceed what the scouting report will say.
  20. Seattle trading for Rodgers and then drafting a successor QB would be pretty funny...
  21. Yes, more likely the later and of course extentions can still come.... but not signing is a leverage tactic if the Brewers and his agent are currently in discussions.
  22. Might Corbin's lack of contract indicate they are trying to sign a longer term deal and buy out a FA year or two? Or does it mean Corbin is playing hardball on arby numbers...indicating we don't have a prayer for his FA years. Just a guess but I think Rowdy will end the year at 2-3WAR.
  23. Clark played quite a bit of DE with Slaton in on early downs and then moved in for pass rush downs. Given TJ's improvements, I wouldn't be surprised if that continues. I'm not banking on Ford or Slayton for much except maybe one of them stepping up enough to be a backup. If you go into TC with Ford, Slayton, a vet minimum, a mid-round draft pick, and a couple UDFAs, you will likely find two decent backups to the starting 3.
  24. Blast... I'll never pass the physical.
