  1. Through four games the Packers are 12th in the league in yards/game allowed, 18th in passing yards allowed, 9th in rushing yards allowed, and 18th in points/game allowed. For reference, the difference between the Packers being 18th in points/game allowed and 8th in points/game allowed is a field goal per game (3 ppg). Also for reference, the Packers lead the league in points per game scored. If they averaged a field goal less per game, they would be 2nd in the league in scoring. If they averaged a touchdown per game less in scoring, they would be tied for third in the league in scoring. The hurry-up offense is tough to stop. And like last year, their defense is propped up because teams fall behind and run the ball very little (the best defense is a good offense). Atlanta was very MM-esque in abandoning the run very, very early even as the game was quasi-close. We are built to stop the pass, this is clear and the most important aspect of defense. If our run defense was simply average in rush/attempt (where we are 23rd and look much worse given the teams we've played), I'd feel 110% better because it only takes one team like 49ers, Titans, Ravens, or Chiefs to just run the ball down our throats and nullify our offense.
  2. I love the Offense, but the defense has me concerned. If we made a move to upgrade the DL so we could be simply average at stopping the run, I'd feel better. We have had far too many teams look incredible offensively and fail miserably defensively to really feel confident about the SB this year. Plus, we are 4 games in. Come back at 12 games and see. Being hot early and cooling off also happens to teams...
  3. Certainly not the way he is playing this year. He hasn't been terrible, but a big step back from last year.
  4. I believe Jones, King, and Linsely will all be gone next year. Going into this year, I assumed Dillon was drafted for next year more than this year. I love Jones, but the history of the league says you don't pay RBs big money. There are some exceptions in history (Jones probably wants a Marshall Faulk comp...), but we are a passing league and RB lifespans rarely justify it. I could see Turner being cut - though he seems to be playing better this year than last. But the biggest bang available.... wait for it... extend Rodgers. I'm not going to try to theorize how or future impacts because I'm not cap expert. But: - The way Rodgers is playing now, it would be foolish to switch to Love in a year or two (if he continued his 2018-2019 decline - yes, but not now). - I think Rodgers would be open to helping the team as he is having fun and really playing well. Just not sure how much... - Rodger's contract is the poison pill that is causing most of our cap difficulties.
  5. [sarcasm]Evidently each club uses a different percentage. For example: - Cubs are about 75% SOBS - Cardinal are about 110% SOBS - Brewers are TBD. Word is that back in the LaRussa days, the Cardinals assumed the Brewers were 100% SOBS, but that was only because they were at 225% SOBS themselves.[/sarcasm]
  6. The only concern about Pina is that he is 34 next year. I guess it depends on what his arby number comes out to be, but I'm guessing N&N are our catcher platoon next year. They certainly were strong defensively and I can only imagine they would get better offensively...
  7. Absolutely moveable! He hasn't shown anything yet. Price is always the key - Obviously more than we spent to get him. Rodgers resurgence obviously makes that more of an option too.
  8. The Vikings basically received a 1st, 4th, and 5th for Diggs (after netting out a few late round picks). Which was a little surprising given that he was clearly on the outs with the Vikings. If you had reversed those two trades, it probably would've been more logical for value and situation.
  9. It was a little curious that Deguara didn't look quite "right" in the first place. Given how others played and the depth of the position, he certainly could've taken the night off. Or at least just be active for emergencies.
  10. The NFL is tailor made for the US TV watching population: - action/violence (i.e. tackling and collisions) occur every play. - Short bursts of action with a break between. Quite literally, I can be doing something else, lookup and watch the snap, see the tackle/incompletion, then go back to whatever else(Which was commenting on this forum last night) until the next snap. Welcome to our short attention span society.
  11. The 2 or 3 WR bunch has created a lot of confusion for CBs too. At least twice last night we had guys wide open (i.e. Jones' TD catch) simply by forcing their defense to communicate and catching them failing to do so (which sound eerily similar to our defenses of the past trying to cover those bunch formations).
  12. That holding call on Jenkins was a joke. His guy fell down the the refs bailed him out. But there were a bunch of missed calls/bad calls by the Refs last night. - Bak false started (intentionally) to catch his guy jumping offsides - which is supposed to stop play. But the refs let it go (to our benefit). I really hate our guys doing the false start and point routine! - Bak got a really early jump once or twice on snaps - no flag. - We were at zero several times on the play clock - no flag. - Several phantom holds on offense and defense. - Our WRs start blocking early on WR screens. There is some flexibility here in the 5 yard range, but a couple times we were clearly blocking before the ball left Rodger's hand. Overall, they seemed even, but not very good overall.
  13. There is a stark contrast between this year and the last years of MM where teams familiar with his scheme (i.e. Vikings/Bears) seemed to run our routes with us.
  14. I missed that twist added to this year... JT still made the right decision (as much as I'd loved to have him back). He looked very good against the Bears last weekend.
  15. So will our RB situation be a split between Groshek and Watson or will some hot RB freshman come in and steal the rock?
  16. Agreed. While losing JT, Cephus, and three OL, it seems like the offense will reset this year. Might as well do the QB also. Coan might play better this year, but I think Mertz has the better chance to carry the offense if needed. I wonder if Coan will redshirt? And if Mertz is established, will he transfer?
  17. Jimmy Graham: 4 games: 136 yds, 3 TD Big Bob: tonight: 98 yds, 3TD
  18. Thought Jackson left with an injury. Oh, I must've missed that one. Hollman made a couple of nice plays while out there anyway.
  19. Nice game. Defense was decent considering how many people were out. Getting Clark back and maybe signing Snacks could make the next 12 games really interesting. We are pretty good against the pass...just being average against the run would make a big difference.
  20. Kadar Hollman getting some time. Not a great sign for Josh Jackson.
  21. [sarcasm]DFA the bum. We lost because he played against the 49ers.[/sarcasm]
  22. Wow... some really bad flag calls plus a bunch of misses - both against Packers and Falcons.
  23. Nope. If you don't know it by now, MLF is not MM. You might also note that Rodgers wasn't gimpy...
  24. I'm guessing we take a page of MM's book: 3 running plays and punt. Which isn't a terrible idea if Rodgers is at all gimpy.
