  1. Viking absolutely. Cowboys next. I have a hard time hating the Seahawks with Wilson at QB.
  2. ] They still make them. Problem is the font is so small the few people who might use it are too old to be able to read it. That is what they make smartphones for... you take a picture and zoom in.... so I've heard.
  3. I hope we aren't restricted to playing central teams next year. I'd hate our teams to be thrown at if we smile a bit too much after hitting a home run.
  4. Do we know exactly what Lazard had? Core muscle surgery... hernia?
  5. Badgers go undefeated on the season?
  6. Who knows...maybe price and availability attracted us to Ertz. Sternberger hasn't been killing it...maybe Ertz was a short-term upgrade? I do agree that Funchess would be very helpful right now. Hopefully St. Brown will still show something this year, but MVS looks like he has stalled as a WR. The third WR isn't needed so much, except when Adams or Lazard has been out. And it is pretty obvious now. I'm thinking we stand pat at MLB for now. Barnes and Martin look better than anything we could get back in a trade. It will be interesting to see what happens when Kirksey comes back. I think the DL still could use a run-stuffer upgrade - like the Pickett/Green suggestions earlier - but they have been playing better as of late. Obviously, healthy Clark makes a huge difference. But Adams is starting to show something (I'll eat my words about him now) and Keke has provided pressure. Lowry still has been poor, but Clark's return helped him out too. A couple years ago, Lancaster looked like a guy that could plug holes (comparable to the aforementioned Howard Green), but his development stalled out. Maybe some time off and reduced snaps will help him out.
  7. Saw that one live (on TV) and couldn't believe my eyes: "AAAH I think he just caught that! How did he do that? HAHAHAHA"
  8. I was annoyed because you were refuting my own statement by telling me to go look up more stats. If you want to use those stats, please provide them. I'm not disagreeing they are valuable, I just don't have access to them. I'm confident in my own evaluation of watching him play last year that he was very hot for the first half of the season and dropped off massively the second half. Sacks aren't everything in the evaluation, but they aren't nothing either. His sack drop-off aligned with what I saw on the field and I'd bet his pressures did exactly the same. I thought he might be dropping into coverage more than last year, but this article says that he dropped into coverage exactly the same as the first 5 games of last year: What grading system? Our run defense has been so attrocious, I've not thought about Smith in this regard. But he has been increasingly reminding me of Nick Perry (minus the injury issues), who was strong against the run and had one good year in pass rush. Yes, as I looked back, he was better than I gave him credit for. He had more pressure plays where he didn't get the sack, but someone did. But even if he plays that way the whole season, I doubt he will be worth the $16M cap number. Between the 4 FAs they signed last year, I'd be surprised if at least one of them isn't cut this year for finance reasons. Smith has Gary behind him (granted both are getting high amount of snaps now) and has been the least valuable so far this year.
  9. Martin made an incredible play early in the game. Might have been the 1st or 2nd series, but he came in, blew up a guard and hit the back about 2-3 yards deep. I had to rewind that a couple of times as it was especially impressive. I didn't see him play until the second half. I'll have to go back and look again. I was trying to keep an eye out for him. One thing I noticed about him (and Jackson too) is that they attack the ball.. even if they aren't the first one there. Love to see the hustle! Seems like Dillon's rushes were pretty vanilla, up the middle rushes. He also seemed to be somewhat tentative - often having both arms wrapped around the ball. Not that I want him to fumble, but you take away a lot of flexibility and mobility that way.
  10. No idea. Feel free to look them up and refute what I'm saying. But by sacks and by watching the game, he really tailed off the end of last year. He is owed a $4.5M roster bonus next year and they can save $8M on the cap by cutting him next year. He played better today, but if he doesn't crank it back up, it wouldn't surprise me if they cut him next year. The point...which you obviously know, is that using sacks over 6 games is an extremely flawed way of evaluating how well someone played. For instance, you said he played well today(and I agree, he did). And he had zero sacks. You're making the assertion that he "really tailed off." I'm saying I don't think the stat you're using is very effective in determining that. Two points: 1) I said he played better today - i.e. he made a big stop on 4th down and seemed to hold his edge. He did little else. I wouldn't say he played well. 2) I agree that sacks aren't a great indicator, but it is available. And I paired it with my observation of watching his game. The original point was that he wasn't playing well this year... I was merely adding on that he hasn't played well the second half of last year either. Again, feel free to refute my observations with his pressure numbers if you want. I'm not your secretary.
  11. I'm guessing by seeing how he works with players and the suggestions he makes. You know... things fans rarely get to see. Too many variables in the results at the plate to directly point at the hitting coach, unfortunately. Thankfully, fans don't hire/fire the coaches anyway.
  12. Barnes continues to impress at MLB. Martin looked good also in replacing Summers who replaced Barnes. Hopefully, Barnes' injury is something minor. It would be nice to see Martin/Barnes out there together. After a week of complaining about Amos and PSmith, they both looked better. Who do we complain about next? Jackson also looked better this week too. Still very active in run support and running to the FB, but I didn't see any big gaffes. I wouldn't be surprised if he is starting at CB next year (assuming King leaves in FA). Turner held up well at LT too. Wagner vs. JJ was interesting from a Badger fan perspective, but he was a bit of a turnstile out there. I've ragged on Turner this offseason based on his play at RG last year, but he has been better at tackle. DL was also pretty solid. No major standout, but Adam, Wynn, Lowry, and Keke were solid.

  14. Ok, I'm in. Just did my first fast last night/this morning. 17 hours without dying. Actually, it was pretty easy. I was hungry by lunch, but not horrible. Being able to drink black coffee helps too. My goal is to drop 20 lbs while trimming the belly fat. We'll see how it goes.
  15. Perhaps you should read a little on the subject. The articles generally cover the pile of pancakes theory. In reality, no diet works if you pig out. Plus the second part is about switching what your body is burning;fat instead of sugar.
  16. I remember him being short, but I had no idea he was that light. Granted, weights today are very different than weights back then too. Everyone has gotten bigger.
  17. PSmith won't be tradeable this offseason. If the Packers aren't finding him useful, I really doubt anyone else will. He also has a $4M bonus due the 3rd league day of the NFL season. So they wouldn't have much time to trade him. But Smith's struggles aren't just this year either. The last 6 games of the season last year, he only tallied 2 sacks (granted, he had 2 sacks against the Seahawks). but he really dropped off after his torrid start. Looking more like the first 10 games of last year were the career aberration.
  18. I find it a bit amusing that Troy Aikman and Joe Buck were assigned the Thursday Night football game that featured the 1-4-1 Eagles vs 1-5 NYG. I didn't even bother turning it on. There was a better fight on the other channels.
  19. Yeah, but what team DOESN'T care about how people are on and off the field? They all do. And I'm speaking more about how some of the fans would talk about different players and use the "Packer People" term rather than the organization. It was a little too righteous at times for my liking. There have been several teams that reveled in being "bad boys" and encouraged dirty play or cheap shots. Then off the field, it was just don't get caught. As I mentioned the 70's Raiders, Jerry Jones' Cowboys, the 90's Vikings (remember the Love Boat or the Urinator?)... The whole comment came up on how the Packers did business, so I assumed you meant they were being self-righteous. Makes more sense to simply look at how the Packers acted (they did intentionally pass on a few players, but worked with others) to see what it actually means. The opinions of a couple fans that annoy you don't really amount to much.
  20. Feels like a good marketing campaign right there...
  21. When he signed as an UDFA, it made some waves because he had such a troubled past (though I honestly don't remember what problems he was in). He was pretty talented, but went undrafted.
  22. Like I said, I think you are still thinking of "Packer People" as too high of a standard. The team wasn't filled with choir boys - yes they had guys make mistakes and they gave guys second chances. Packer People just meant that we cared about how people were on and off the field - pretty much the opposite of the Raiders of the 70s. People that had long histories of issues were avoided, but it wasn't as if they expected the players to never have gotten in trouble either. Much was made of this when they brought Colt in, too. They were clear this was his chance and he had a very short rope. I don't recall him ever taking the field in preseason. Sad case for the guy. FYI, TT's justification for not signing FAs was that they weren't rookie free agents - the only kind he ever signed.
  23. There is no way Chuck Cecil plays in today's NFL. He'd be ejected every game for targeting.
  24. I'm thinking the Packer's Wire needs to start crediting me on some of their articles. This wasn't the first time I've made a comment about someone on this forum, only to have a packer wire article come out a day or two later...
  25. It is a bit of revisionist history to say "Packer People" means we never gave someone a second chance or that the team was filled with choir boys. I think the bar was a bit lower than that. Normally that just meant that we were avoiding someone that had a history of being a poor teammate or hard to coach. Or someone that had continuous off the field issues. Someone that did something and was trying to make amends wasn't normally the problem (Jolly has three chances?). That and trying to avoid further Lofton/Chmura type scandals.
