  1. I'm guessing that means saving $$ was a priority this year.
  2. There is a lot of logical reasons why the fatality rate is lower too, however. With the increase of testing, people that aren't as severe or not showing any symptoms at all are being tested (thus increasing the denominator of the rate calculation). Plus, medical professionals know how to treat it better than before (i.e. which medicines to use or not, intubating later instead of early), which is decreasing the deadliness of it all (i.e. reducing the numerator of the rate calculation). I tend to think that the fatality rate really won't spike just because cases are spiking. Both deaths and cases will go up, but that shouldn't really effect the rate calculation. The only way that would make sense is if the virus mutates and treatments must change to match it or it becomes more deadly.
  3. I liked having Nashville, but I wonder if there will be any hard feelings with the last parting of ways and the new stadium.
  4. Yeah, what's up with the time of that game? Makes zero sense - especially with no fans in the stands. Why you wouldn't play that game at night is ridiculous. I believe the Bucks play their NBA "re-opener" at 5:30 that night, so it's probably to not overlap the games. Yes, this is the reason why. Avoiding conflict with the Buck's game.
  5. Yeah, I liked 9-man baseball..even enduring Sheets' at-bats... but this changed my mind too.
  6. Might as well capitalize on DC Comic's biggest character... DC Jokers.
  7. I can't say that I'm happy with only Wagner as the only option at RT right now. Here's hoping one of the youngins picks up and is a viable backup and/or competition for Wagner. Still hoping Veldheer comes back or is willing to come back anyway if things go south.
  8. Well, the Marquette Warriors changed to the Golden Eagles. I never quite got why they didn't just change the mascot. Warrior is a generic term for a fighting person of any background. I wonder what the Native Indian tribes that originally were in the DC area would pick as a respectful term? If they are going to make a change for being offensive, it would be a good thing to honor the tribes instead.
  9. Given how much the Brewers have reserved in signing the other picks, I'd be surprised if they didn't have the plan in place all along and knew how much it will take to sign him.
  10. I would say that people running that study could be considered experts; it is a professional health care organization. Or did you mean other experts? The WHO? CDC? Mayo Clinic? Johns Hopkins? No one is really unanimous here. Lots of information in a short period of time that conflicts doesn't help people gain confidence in health recommendations if studies keep conflicting with each other. At least 4 of 5 dentists still recommend Trident.
  11. Yeah, I wasn't trying to compare the player's peaks, just that the style of play (low percentage completion, hard to stop run) quickly falls apart if you aren't a threat throwing the ball. It will be interesting to see if Cam's low percentage is part of the offense or not. He did have a high 2018 completion rate, so perhaps it was the system. But if he has to rely on running the ball to be effective, I don't think he will have success.
  12. Fair point about Williams. Veldheer was pretty comparable with Bulaga at the same ages. That very good, but not Pro Bowl level OT. Which is kind of the point... he has dropped off quite a bit in his 30s. Mark Tauscher's last full season was his age 30 year. 13 games at 31 and then 8 and 4 the next two years. Clifton held out well until 34, but had few injury issues early in his career (rotten Sapp). My point is simply that the third contract for a 30+ yo is a bit of a gamble. Unless you are a QB or a very special player, it rarely works out. I loved Bulaga and hate to see him go. I just don't think he is a good risk given his injury history.
  13. ??? Are you thinking of someone else? Burks didn't start a single game last year and only played 57 defensive snaps all year. He was out injured for 4 games last year and listed on the injury report for a 5th. Maybe it took a few more games (I'll give him 6 more) to get back to playing condition and feeling good. That still gives him 6 regular-season games where he made zero impact with two scrubs playing ahead of him. If he was really incapable of playing for 8-10 games, they would've put him on IR.
  14. I think regardless of the reason, it seems a smart move to not announce the entire roster until they have to. Could be a trade, physicals, players recovering from injury or covid... whatever it is, take the flexibility you are given.
  15. I'm going to guess that most of those rules will work the same as before as they relate to being on the MLB active roster (be it 26, 28, or 30-man) or not. Where the "not" would apply if you are included with the other 30 of 60 or left off it. Since everyone is in the same boat for Rule 5 players, I'd assume this year will count...developed or not. If they aren't developed, they are less likely to be taken in the draft anyway. But, no references, just intuition and assumption.
  16. They shouldn’t even have to sweep. Use your brain and mow the correct direction. I don't have a curb, so when I'm done mowing, I just run the mower over the road and blow the clippings back on my yard. Same on my driveway.

  18. Interesting that Sweden reported zero deaths on June 29th (and a strong downward trend to zero since a mid-April peak). Sweden has about the same population as WI+MN and has had 150% more deaths than both states combined (~5300 to ~2100). Climate and health care capabilities would also be similar in those areas. Not advocating one way over the other, just trying to compare current numbers. Obviously, if herd mentality does work it is expected that the first wave is higher to reduce future waves, so it will be interesting to watch the results into the winter. edit- had an error in the number of deaths in MN+WI I had to correct.
  19. Meanwhile, my wife and I have been enjoying cranking through old programs on Hulu... "Hey, they just added 'Better off Ted!'"
  20. Not what you've asked for, but indoor painting, I use a Paint Stick. A roller that can hold ~1/6 a gallon of paint in the handle. They cost about $20, though its been a while since I bought one, and they last a long time (just replace the roller heads). The nice thing is that you can paint a long time before refilling.
  21. Cam has gotten a decent amount of yards on the ground, but he isn't the threat that he used to be. Last time the Packers played him, he would get a few yards, but not nearly like early in his career. Normally the heavy run-type QBs don't age well and have slowed down by their 30s; similar to RBs. If they can't pass the ball, they don't cut it anymore. Cam has a career completion of under 60% - that isn't good. Though he did have a 67% in 2018 oddly. And even thought Denver won with Tebow... you see he didn't last long in the league.
  22. I wasn't correlating Burks and Adams. They are two players that haven't lived up to their draft capital nor skillsets. That is the only connection. I never said the failure of one was related to the other. Burks had a huge opportunity last year. Goodson played 24% of the snaps. Campbell played another 17% (in just a few games). We looked for a coverage LB all season after Greene was injured. Just because he didn't get on the field doesn't mean he didn't get an opportunity. It means he wasn't getting it done in practice and/or the LB room. Now, in year 3, I really hope something clicks with him (and he can stay healthy), but this will be his last chance unless he shows something more this year.
  23. Actually, there are a lot of very good 30+ year old tackles that leave their original team. Trent Williams is one. Wagner (maybe not as good today, but a similar a few years back). Veldheer is probably a pretty decent comp to Bulaga. He had a few big injuries early in his career, then started having more nagging injuries/performance for his age 30/31 seasons (played 80% and 66% of the snaps). Once you get into that 30+ age nexus, you have to pick and choose carefully whom you keep. It isn't so much about the cost as it is the chance that you pay that much money to someone on the injured list.
  24. I'm surprised that MLB didn't start pushing the robo-ref for safety reasons.
  25. Bulaga may have started 16 games, but he only played 83.6% of offensive snaps so he missed the equivalent of 2.63 games. Plus, in 2018 he only played 72.7% of snaps and two seasons ago (2017) he missed 11 games and he's on the wrong side of 30. And, like others have said, I think would have been difficult for them to sign Bulaga, Clark, and Bakh. I think your last sentence is correct, but for Nijman, not Light. They added Nijman to the active roster at the end of November, so they think highly of him. I think they want him to get one more year as a backup before trusting him to protect Rodgers, thus the signing of Wagner as a stopgap (while technically a 2-year deal, NFL FA contracts are usually for a year longer than they are intended to be for and I doubt he sees year two). I should note that the snap percentages listed are based on what the previous player did last year (rounded to the nearest 5%). So yes, Bulaga did miss some time last year, hence Wagner at 85%. I think Light has some potential. I don't think he will be a starting RT, but an OK backup. I've heard some rumors about trying him at guard, a la Mike Wahle. We seem to have good success at finding guards from tackles. And I'm not sold on Turner. The end of the year, he didn't look like he could block for pass nor run...
