  1. Back during the draft, there was obviously a lot of complaints about the state of the WR (and other) position and how we didn't address it. So I thought it would be interesting to see how we would go from person to person (2019 to 2020) with a presumed amount of performance compared to the previous year to really see if we really improved or not. This chart shows my presumed starters for 2020 and the equivalent person last year in (parenthesis). Note that some times people moved up in the "role" so they don't replace themselves (i.e. Sullivan replacing Williams at Nickel CB). But I tried to slot in people where I'm guessing their approximate amount of snaps will be this year and rated what I think their increase or decrease in performance from the person doing that last year, which is often themselves. [pre]Position Starter +/- Snaps Backup +/- Snaps Depth +/- Snaps Total QB Aaron Rodgers 0% 95% Jordan Love 0% 5% 0% (AR) (Boyle) RB Aaron Jones -20% 60% Jamaal Williams -10% 30% AJ Dillon 10% 20% -13% (Jones) (Williams) (Ervin/Carson) FB Josiah Deguara 5% 25% N/A 0% 0% 1% (Danny Vitale) WR Davante Adams 0% 85% Devin Funchess 25% 50% EQ St. Brown 10% 10% 14% (Adams) (Allison) (Kumerow) WR Allen Lazard 25% 80% MVS 10% 20% Reggie Begelton 10% 0% 22% (Lazard) (MVS) (Shepherd) TE Jace Sternberger 0% 65% Marcedes Lewis 0% 45% Robert Tonyan 10% 20% 2% (Graham) (Lewis) (Tonyan) LT David Bakhtiari -10% 95% Alex Light 0% 5% Cody Conway 0% 0% -10% (Bakhtiari) (Light) LG Elgton Jenkins 10% 95% Jon Runyan 0% 5% 10% (Jenkins) (Patrick) C Corey Linsley 0% 85% Lucas Patrick 0% 15% Jake Hanson 0% 0% 0% (Linsley) (Patrick) RG Lane Taylor 5% 95% Billy Turner 5% 5% 5% (Turner) (Madison) RT Rick Wagner -30% 85% Alex Light 0% 5% Yosh Nijman 0% 0% -26% (Bulaga) (Light/Veldheer) Total 5% offensive improvement. Yards TD Pts 2019 5812 44 376 2020* 6117 46 396[/pre] With the predicted defense (298 points), that puts us at a record of 10.6 wins and 5.4 losses, which feels about right. Last year was a very "lucky" year with some of the wins. My mindset: QB: Rodgers is a year older, but second year on the system. Comes out about the same. RB: Regression on Jones' and Williams' excellent years. FB: I'm guessing Deguara is used a lot this year in the HB role. WR: Predicting a bump up for Lazard and MVS but very reachable percentages. Similar for Funchess over Allison. TE: Sternberger is still learning is about the same for Graham (though some big upside possible) LT: Bakhtiari was incredible at the end of last year. I'm guessing some regression is possible. LG: Jenkins' potential for a second year jump. C: Linsley will be Linsley RG: Lane Taylor steps in for Turner. RT: Big step down from Bulaga to Wagner. With only Light as a T backup, there is a big open door for other backup Tackles. I'm a big Nijman fan.
  2. Agreed. Giannis doesn't strike me as the type of guy that wants the big city and bright lights (Carmelo, LeBron).
  3. The explanation is simple. Now Brewer's pitchers won't get COVID while diving back into first base.
  4. Well, the delay did help at least three injured Brewers. I'm guessing Lauer, Urias, and Knebel will all be available now.
  5. Best thing that I've read in a long time! Not that younger men don't wear masks...but that you consider under 50 to be younger-ish.
  6. I heard a story where a company in Israel has invented a light mist disinfectant that people can walk through before going into large stadiums. Combine that with temperature tests and that would greatly increase the safety.
  7. [sarcasm]Bah! Lake Geneva is just filled with Illinois Cub fans let them get sick![/sarcasm] Having lived there (and friends still in the area), the first half is certainly true... For the Twin Cities, very little (Menards?) requires a mask. I'd say few wear them unless they are going to be in a crowded situation.
  8. My dental assistant said that they put on a cheap mask on over their N95 masks to keep the N95 mask clean. Thus, they can use the N95 mask for days and the cheap mask for each patient. (This was last week.)
  9. What kind of phone do you have? The default Google camera app automatically recognizes bar codes. Samsung Note 9. I later found an app for reading bar codes as it was integrated into the phone features (i.e. in the "menu bar" access and not with the traditional apps).
  10. I wonder how many MLB pitchers (compared to position players) actually come from that pool also? Maybe we are just playing the odds. Being a data-driven organization, that might drive the approach.
  11. Understand that the article basically said we did well compared to one person's draft ranking, given where we drafted. It has nothing to do with the actual people we drafted and predicting their MLB success (which is the actual point of the draft). Without even looking, I'm sure I'd prefer to have the Tigers draft picks than ours given they were able to draft 20 picks earlier than we did and had a comp pick. So we can still have an "meh" draft, but do well for picking 20th.
  12. So if there is no baseball season, are the player contracts/arbitration years/minor league options "froze" or would someone like Zach Davies become a free agent now? Puts that trade in a bit different light if he is a FA.
  13. Well, they might have a better chance of playing in the NFL this year...
  14. Yeah, but if your phone is your 2nd authentication and it has automatic logins to your bank and other passwords... Just for the record, I don't keep bank nor CC info on my phone. But pay by phone starts pushing us that direction.
  15. But if they do go way south, I would assume they are in a better position than last year to handle it. You basically revert directly back to online school in the worst case scenario.
  16. I rarely used cash before (carry some paper, never coins), but I was surprised at how I wasn't even given the option to pay by CC. She just dropped off the barcode and bolted. I'm sure if I objected, she would've taken my CC, but the big pivot in direction took me by surprise. I've avoided payments and my phone simply for security reasons in the past, though phones are getting more secure now. I'm still not 100% comfortable tying everything (two mode authentications, password storage, financial info) to my phone.
  17. More on topic: My wife and I ate out last night for the first time in forever (way beyond COVID). The experience was a bit odd and made me wonder what we would've done if we didn't have a smart phone. The waitress drops down a "coaster" with a 2D bar code on it for the menu. Doesn't say anything about it. Evidently, I don't use those scanners often as my phone (~ 1 year old) didn't have one. I previously had the menu up on my phone (as we waited for a table), so I never bothered with it. Then for the bill, I get a similar paper with a 2D code and she says you can pay on the phone and runs off. So, this time I downloaded the scanner and paid the bill. Not to be all "conspiracy theorist", but I do wonder what companies will be taking advantage of COVID to further their tools/services where we will be forced into using something via legislation (purposely or inadvertently).
  18. Sorry to hear that BSCR. My condolences. I'm guessing mandatory temp scans are going to be more popular as a means to stay open, but safe at the same time. My work has them as you come in the door. My dentist did it for me and the workers. It isn't fool-proof (the smokers standing outside in the noonday sun trigger a fever), but it does filter the most infectious people out of exposing others.
  19. Under the Hall of Very Good to See Movies, I'd add The Quiet Place. Very interesting thriller with very little dialog. Not a horror movie (not gory), but borderline thriller-horror. And as an added bonus...if you watch closely you realize that the "bad guys" appear in 2020...
  20. I'll admit that I'm not crazy about my ribs either (but even failures taste good). My smoker hangs the ribs, so I can't foil them either. Though I think the off for 2 hours, on for 2, off for one is a good way to mitigate soggy (no bark) ribs. I also normally run around 250 for my smoker, so 225 might do better for ribs being so thin. I highly recommend a thermometer for the smoker. Even a good smoker goes through a lot of variations with outside temp, fuel, wind, etc... No good way to regulate if you don't have one. But yes, the meat is done when the meat is done!
  21. I know someone whose last name is "Stoner". He has never done marijuana either. Unfortunate name!
  22. Sounds like something the Cardinals would do...
  23. A co-worker's daughter goes to Purdue and mentioned they would do this. I thought it was a brilliant idea. Still be able to meet for labs, but at the tail end of the year (between Thanksgiving and Christmas), you avoid recontaminating all the family exposures and implement the already-tested school from home for a month. Should save students some money also.
  24. I was going to post the same. Add better treatments to knowing when (and when not) to use ventilators, and this becomes much less deadly. All good news!
