  1. Just took a look at Fangraphs Pitching Fx. Anderson was 91-91.5 over the last three years and averaging 93 this year. Nice to see the improvement.
  2. They are showing Anderson pitching regularly in the 94MPH range. Isn't that higher than last year? My memory is telling me that he was 90-91 last year. But its been wrong before...
  3. As long as it is not deceiving the runner then it is ok but yes it is a balk technically. It is not a balk he was coming set...barely I know there are a lot of specific rules for the balk (that I don't really want to know ). But it seemed like he was set, then steps, then pitches.
  4. Hader's FB was coming in the 93-94 range and Gameday kept categorizing them as change-ups. Wouldn't that be nice.
  5. Does Hader balk each time he pitches? It looks like he puts his left foot on the rubber, then takes a very small step with his right foot. Then goes into this pitching motion.
  6. I'm thinking LHP this year. Hall or Rogers. I think the Brewers try to undo the bad Karma from picking Mark Rogers (RHP) by taking LHP Trevor Rogers.
  7. Looks like you are correct per this TWEET from Colorado Mesa outfielder Bligh Madris. Takes vertical video. Hard pass. He had a steady hand and good speed... vertical/horizontal can be coached up.
  8. Looked like Guerra had his control back in the 5th, but its looking like he lost it again in the 6th.
  9. Tonight's starting lineup: - Pina: Throw-in on a KROD trade - Agular: Waiver wire pickup from Cleveland - Sogard: MiLB free agent - Arcia: Latin America signed and developed - Perez: Waiver wire pickup. Waived a couple times by Brewers - Thames: FA signing from KBO after three years in Korea - Maverick: Centerpiece of a trade with Houston - Santana: Included with Maverick - Guerra: Waiver wire pickup from White Sox Add in Broxton and Braun as major contributors for the season, but that is the team that has us in first place. Just think if we could draft and develop...
  10. Ironically, Pina was blocking the plate at first, but then moves his leg, which allows the runner's hand to get in...
  11. That had to be a little distracting for Maverick to be up there with everyone greeting Brinson.
  12. Time to be the exception for the rule.
  13. Wisconsin Herd? Boo. Being part of the herd is a negative connotation. Fox Valley Flyers is much better. And they could've gotten sponsorship from the EAA Airshow
  14. That came to mind, but dang....9? He has 16 in his career that only spans 120 games. There must be something there more than opportunities. Accurate arm? I don't watch enough of Clark to really see that many throw attempts to get people out. Might be interesting if there is an opportunity stat for throwing out baserunners. Certainly, LFers will get more than RF because of guys going from 1st to 3rd on a play, in addition to runners going home. Or it might be that the scouting reports are wrong and he has a good arm and people will stop running on him soon.
  15. I kind of get a Gallardo vibe from him myself. Possibly peaking at a #1 (i.e. a top 32 SP in MLB), but most of his career in the #2/3 level.
  16. inducing weak contact That has been the book on Burnes since he was drafted, but for his MiLB career, he is over 9K/9IP, which is an impressive rate for an SP. I can see where an advanced college pitcher might overwhelm A ball, but he is very close to that at A+ and AA this year too (8.4/9IP at A+ and 11Ks in 10.2 AA innings). So, despite the "good, not great stuff" scouting reports, he gets a high about of Ks. Do you think there is some deception in delivery or just an intelligent pitching approach with 4 pitches making it touch to tee off on any one of them? Either way, the high K rate is one of the more encouraging things about Burnes that makes me think he could reach a higher SP potential at the MLB level.
  17. Interesting as his arm was never regarded as that impressive. His defense leaves a lot to be desired from the eye test though. He probably isn't highly regarded so people aren't fearing his arm. Thus, giving him more opportunities. OF assists are a lot like RBIs. You still need to deliver, but its also heavily driven by the opportunities given to you. Nice to see Lara going 3-4. Hopefully the "demotion" was enough to wake him up?
  18. So, when does MLB move the draft to a Saturday and make it more "consumable" for viewers? I'm surprised this hasn't happened yet.
  19. That was his point. The next line was this: We won't even attempt to fix that mid season except maybe some call ups. I'd like to see Hader become our Andrew Miller. Trying to fix our BP through trades will be expensive. See the Thornburg trade as an example. Or Will Smith. We should trade relievers every year...
