  1. With Gatewood, for instance, there's still a lot of swing and miss in his approach a good reminder that development doesn't mean productions success... I'm sure (or at least hope) that our coaches have milestones for each player for development activities to work on and not just "his OPS is over 850, push him up" approach. For the list of promotions, I'd add Woodruff to MLB to the list.
  2. Wily gets a win in his first outing from the BP. On the day where he was slated to be the starter. Ironic. If Anderson flunks out of the SP rotation, I don't see much upside in the BP other than a long man role.
  3. Didn't see the ones you are referring to with Chase, but Gameday shows that strike 3 to Keon as plenty in the zone. Watching it live, it looked like it looped up and around high, but dropped in at the top of the zone by the time it hit the catcher's mitt. Looked like a ball to me.
  4. [sarcasm]I take full credit for making it happen![/sarcasm]
  5. You don't think they move someone to the pen or you don't think any of our starters is worth more as an RP? With us finally having some MiLB starters pushing for a MLB spot, I think we finally give up on a couple of these guys making it as a starter. Its been a while since we can say that.
  6. I use the phrase "hidden gem" loosely in the films I'm mentioning Yes, I should've used "hidden gems" instead of must-see for the two I mentioned. I was thinking of rarely heard movies that were good based on the OP. And Night Shift was a good one too. Its been a long time...
  7. funny that you mention that, i was just going to post this, looks like there is another Thon Maker in this years draft. anyone not think this isn't going to be the pick: http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Isaiah-Hartenstein-81574/ Just so we don't draft him and trade him to Dallas!
  8. Its hard to fathom Sylvester Stallone in a must see movie, but if you like corny comedy and haven't seen "Oscar" you are missing a hilarious movie. Or if you can stand a bit of Shakespeare, "Much Ado about Nothing" is a great date movie.
  9. I'm curious. Why would you have Anderson be the next up for demotion after Peralta, when he has basically been the Brewers best starter overall this year? I get that his secondary stats are pretty similar to Nelson's, so it seems he's been a little bit lucky, but if Davies doesn't start putting things together soon, I think he would have to be next in line for demotion after Peralta. Chase's ERA is down, but like you said, his secondary stats don't match. But having said that, I'm not talking about sending him down today. Just thinking about which starters are long(er) term and which starters might be legit RPs for a playoff BP.
  10. Guillera is almost back and will push someone out of the rotation. But we also have some AA/AAA talent that might push their way in this year. So, not just focusing on who will lose their SP job... Who might actually be reclaimed as a decent RP? Current rotation: Peralta Nelson Anderson Davies Garza I'd probably put money down that Peralta is the first man out. And I think that he is probably the best candidate to be a better RP than SP. He can focus down to his best two pitches. And his straight-as-an-arrow FB at 95-96 might tick up to 98-99, which would make it a little harder to hit than now. I'd guess Anderson is the next likely to lose their SP spot and Nelson after him. Nelson could be decent in the BP if he keeps his control (granted the same can be said as an SP). I don't see Anderson's stuff translating to the BP as well.
  11. So, who are the big international players in the draft this year? That seems to be the Buck's MO.
  12. I think people need to stop looking at 1 months worth of stats to make decisions. GMs don't.
  13. The annual discussion of "when can we promote/demote him?" based on tiny spring sample sizes...
  14. [sarcasm]So you're saying your man-crush is causing his ascension? Can you please crush on a few others too?[/sarcasm]
  15. Wow, what a perfect time to start my MLB.tv subscription... I literally paid for it, launched the game and Thames was up first. Boom, boom, boom.
  16. Nope, the poster that wrote that was a month off. Six months after the trade takes us til June 6th. Crud. That almost ensures one more painful discussion about how good the PTBNL if he is worth $100...
  17. I paid $100 for a pair of Nikes a little after the Jordons market blew up shoes to that range. Back then $100 for shoes was as ridiculous as $500 today.
  18. Yah, I think it is pretty unusual for an MLB trade to have a performance component to it. I doubt any of the players on the agreed-upon list will be yanked because Tyler got hurt. Wasn't the CC trade with Green vs. Brantley as the PTBNL based on performance of CC?
  19. Yeah, I considered that. With Matthews playing ILB too, it makes sense that we only keep 3 traditional ILB...
  20. Koenig looked faster this year and was able to keep up with most PGs he defended last year. That was after his body transformation effort over the summer prior. But I think that is still his biggest drawback as a PG in the NBA. I don't think he will be fast enough. Maybe he can continue to develop and improve that. And he is too short for SG. He might be drafted and will (at least) be on someone's training camp roster. But I don't think he will make much of an impact right away. Of course, similar things were said about Brogdon...
  21. Ok, now that the draft is done, its time to predict the roster. Although most positions are pretty well set, its always interesting to guess the last 10 roster positions. * Denotes a starter. Bold indicates on the 53 man roster. QB(3):: Pretty easy here. Callahan sticks because Hundley is close to be traded. - Locks: Rodgers*, Hundley - Bubble: Callahan RB(5): - Locks: Montgomery*, Ripkowski, Williams, Jones - Bubble: Mays, Kerridge - Others: Crockett - can't stay healthy. TE(3): With no draft picks here, I think there is little change of any challengers. - Locks: Bennett*, Rodgers, Kendricks - Bubble: - Others: Sandland WR(6): I'm almost tempted to put Cobb on the Bubble for his cost, but he is still a weapon. - Locks: Nelson*, Adams*, Cobb*, Allison, Yancy - Bubble: Davis, Janis, Dupre - Others: Goodley, McCaffrey OL(9): Evans is a near lock, but he needs to fit in first. - Locks: Bulaga*, Linsley*, Taylor*, Bakhtiari*, Spriggs - Bubble: Evans*, Amichia, Murphy, Barclay, Patrick, - Others: Flores, McCray, DL(5): If JF plays half-way decent and eveyone stays healthy, it wouldn't surprise me to cut Guion. But I like the talent we have here. - Locks: Daniels*, Clark*, Lowry*, Adams, - Bubble: Jean Francois, Price - Out: Ringo - Suspension: Guion OLB(5):Keep as many as possible. - Locks: Perry*, Matthews*, Fackerell, Biegel - Bubble: Elliot, Gilbert - Out: ILB(4): Not much depth. And an UDFA could sneak in. Or we add another OLB and use Matthews (Clay) here. - Locks: Ryan*, Martinez*, Thomas - Bubble: Tripp - Out: Matthews (Derrick) S(4): Last spot comes down to last year's UDFA speedsters. Even though Brice had more PT last year, I'm picking Evans. - Locks: HHCD*, Burnett*, Jones - Bubble: Evans, Brice - Out: Whitehead CB(6): House starts while King develops. Goodson can't stay healthy and loses to Hawkins or an UDFA (not listed here) - Locks: Randall*, House*, Rollins, King, Gunter, - Bubble: Goodson, Hawkins - Out: Waters ST (3): Toss-up between Pepper and Hart for LS. I predict Vogel beats out Schum. - Locks: Crosby - Bubble: Pepper, Hart, Schum, Vogel - Out:
  22. Barring injuries, you'd have to assume 2 of the guys make the opening day roster, with the 3rd ending up on the practice squad. I wouldn't assume that. They normally carry 5 RB/FB on the roster. So right now, you have Ty and Rip as locks. Then you have the 3 rookies and Joe Kerridge (UDFA FB promoted from PS last year). So, Kerridge and Mays are probably playing for one spot. If Mays shows anything in short yardage situations, I would imagine they keep him over Kerridge. I would bet money that we won't be signing Jamal Charles (barring injury at least). Michaels was a better bet than Charles. And we see what happened there...
  23. Given the drop-off of discussions at LL.net and the migration of some of those posters to this forum, the moderators had a discussion on how to manage threads for those topics. If you are a regular to the yearly bucks, badgers and packer threads here, a single thread gets very muddied when talking about multiple topics. So please feel free to make new topical threads about the Packers, Bucks and Badgers as you would about the Brewers in the other forum areas. If the Off Topic forum becomes overrun with those threads, then another forum section will be created to contain Other Sports.
  24. Yeah, I've read that, but didn't have any on hand. Although, since I'm adding moisture at that point, I'm not sure if butcher paper would work well there. But I did lose my burnt ends.
