  1. Great. 6 games blacked out in LA...darn you MLB and your antiquated blackout rules! It could be worse, that means I get 6 non-blacked out games. I'm too far to get Milwaukee TV, but still close enough to have MLB TV blacked out....
  2. I suppose I should post mine... Those last 10 were pretty difficult and not the "good way", either. Hopefully that changes soon... 1. Wily Peralta 2. Tyler Thornburg 3. Jed Bradley 4. Taylor Green 5. Taylor Jungmann 6. Logan Schafer 7. Caleb Gindl 8. Scooter Gennett 9. Santo Manzanillo 10. Nick Bucci 11. Cody Scarpetta 12. Jorge Lopez 13. Mark Rogers 14. D'Vontrey Richardson 15. 3. The Brewers shouldn't have to worry about a Sabathia-type situation getting a pick bumped back one round later since the Angels signed the only free agent rated higher than Prince (Pujols). I don't know... they need a DH, don't they? (A pox on my head for even mentioning it...) Any pick taken after the 10th round can sign for up to $100,000 and not count towards the pre-determined draft pool. So that might hinder the Brewer's normal attempts to grab guys in the 15-20th round range and sign them to 2-3rd round deals. First draft and follow and now this... Also, why does the supplemental pick for Cuddyer, Bell, etc... all come before Pujols and Fielder? And why do the Padres' get the Marlin's second round pick for Reyes?
  4. I should clarify. Feel free to discuss rankings or whatever in this thread. I simply wanted the "no comments" part about the list itself. Its not a big deal to sort through all the posts to pick out the lists.
  5. We're kind of up a creed Is that an "Office" reference?
  6. Ok, not sure what I'm signing myself up to exactly... but I'll give it a whirl to compile the list. But a few ground rules: 1) Please list your players 1 to X (stop at 50 or 30 or 1 if you like) with no commentary. I plan on cut-n-paste into Excel to do this, so less work is appreciated! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif 2) Only submit one list. If you update please update your original list. 3) Please list one player per line. 4) Submissions will close in two weeks-ish. So around January 10th or so. Work/family/etc may "tweak" that date. Results will be pretty simple. First place vote gets 50 points, 2nd, 49, etc... If the mods have any suggestions to make this easier, I'm all ears. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  7. He adds nothing to a bench though. He adds a backup SS. As a starting SS, YB was terrible. Compared to SS backups in the league, he isn't that bad. Remember that we had CC and Josh Wilson last year... Name an available SS that will take the MLB minimum that is better than YB. I'm not sure YB would have taken MLB minimum, but that was the premise you put out there... Yes, I would like to have a better SS for our backup than YB. But given what is left, YB at league minimum isn't bad. YB at $2M is a "no thank you".
  8. League minimum is about right, and I wouldn't want him on my team for the league minimum. I tended to side with the "anti-YB" group when he was our starting SS, but honestly, I'd have no problem with YB as a backup SS at league minimum, as long as I knew that his coming back and being "demoted" wouldn't be a club-house problem. I don't see anyone that is an option for backup SS out there that is going to be any better.
  9. Its becoming clear that the MLB should just reverse course and allow players to use all the PEDs they want. Thus, the "jocks" will become dependent on the "nerds". MLB teams will draft "nerds" in the draft, since now its not the tools you have, but the tools we can formulate to inject into you. Forget about 60 yd dashes, arm strength, or bat speed, IQ will be the 6th and most important tool! Cute girls in the stands will wear lab coats and carry signs that say "Marry me, Eugene!" Thus completing the ultimate Revenge of the Nerds!
  10. They have Freeman at 1st and Heyward in RF. Can Hart or Heyward play LF? I would think one of the easiest defensive transitions in baseball would be going from RF to LF or vice-versa.
  11. Unless something big changes, I wouldn't expect to see anything else until ST. Then, I'm sure someone will do a fluff piece on his accident, injury, progress, etc...
  12. Early January will be a better time, IMO. MLB news slows down then and most of our offseason roster moves will be done also. Question to the mods: Did colbyjack and Mass Haas "backing off" certain roles effected the P50 at all? Maybe we should setup a user driven P50 debate if that would help. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  13. I've generally been a big Hart supporter over his career, but he isn't untradeable either. He is 30 this year and has a decent contract numbers for the next two years ($9M and $10M). There is no reason we NEED to trade him, but if it betters the team overall, I don't see a problem. Braun's possible suspension has thrown a few wrinkles the Brewer's direction this year. If not for that, I doubt you even consider trading Hart, given they would have a decent shot at winning the Central again.
  14. I don't think they have to inform about the medical condition. They just need the "note from the doctor" that XYZ medication will show up like this. Otherwise, they would have some HIPAA issues.
  15. There are only a few teams that can afford the luxary of filling every spot the roster with "proven" players. The Brewers aren't one of them.
  16. If Brawn (intentional SP) is suspended for 50 games and they sign a RH-LFer that could use a platoon partner, I can see Gindl/Morgan and RHLF/Gomez holding down a double platoon in LF and CF. But then with Braun coming back, Gindl should go back to AAA for regular playing time. Yeah, I believe this is true. Sad. His best years and they were rarely any openings for him. Now a door is wide open and perfect for him (need a RH LF) and he is out with an injury.
  17. The reality is that if Braun is out, their chances are almost shot anyway. I'm not convinced of that. - Ramirez+Gamel+Gonzalez vs. YB+CM+Prince: Probably lost a game or two in production there. - Losing Braun for 50 games (less than 1/3 of the season) is what 2-3 games? So everything else being pretty equal, you have lost 3-5 games (in theory). That should still be enough to be a division contender or at least for the WC.
  18. I'm pretty sure the first 15 picks in the draft are protected. That is why I'm cheering for Washington at #16.
  19. pebadger is way smarter than me Now we know what the "pe" stands for... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  20. I would guess most of them would rather not deal with the headaches. Plus, often a good agent plays the games to get you more (thus paying for part of the fee). Ray Allen's max was set, so the agent wouldn't help.
  21. Since the Brewers have spent enough money this offseason that there is no realistic possibility (so even the most ardent optimist has to concede that he is gone) for the Brewers to sign him, so predict where he lands: I'm hopeful for Washington (for the draft pick), but I'm guessing Texas Rangers.
  22. Wandy is 2 years younger than Wolf. Will cost $10M, $13M and $13M (vesting option). Wolf will cost $9.5M this year. Just looking at that, its an ok, but not great idea. Would you pay $13M for the last two years of Wolf (decent assumption that Wandy can match that). But in the big picture, the Brewers must "get cheap" somewhere. Lots of positional players are in arbitration. Gallardo has a long term contract. People want to extend Grienke and maybe Marcum. With Peralta, Fiers, Rogers (long shot), Thornburg and Scarpetta as possible cheap additions to the starting rotation, I don't see the luxury to have a $13M 3rd or 4th SP. And before I did this, I would try to sign Edwin Jackson and use Wolf for some other trade bait.
  23. The dude can flat out rake... Well, he can work on the maintenance crew without being on the 25-man... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Seriously, though he had a nice season but lets not go overboard. He was 7th in OPS among Sounds players with over 100 ABs and 3rd with over 400 ABs. I think we will see that those numbers are pretty inflated (for Green and Gamel too). If we are going to have Morgan and Gomez playing most of the CF and LF while Braun is out, we need a RH LFer that can start against LHP for NM and a few starts for Gomez (NM in center) against some RHP. Gindl doesn't really fit that need. People tend to forget that a big part of NM and Gomez's good season was that their deficiencies were masked because they were used correctly. Starting them every game again would not be a good idea. Is Brendan Katin healthy this year? How about a little 3TO out in LF?
  24. I'd feel better if we handled left and center with a three-way platoon that included a right handed LFer (i.e. better batter than Gomez). That way, Plush still doesn't play against lefties. And Gomez isn't playing everyday either (at least spell him against tougher RHSPs).
  25. Is that $3M per year or $1.5M per year?
