  1. I suppose he prefers that nickname to "Little Pine"...
  2. I work with a Bears/Brewer fan. He grew up in Platteville watching Payton and the rest at TC. But otherwise cheers for WI sports.
  3. Chuckie hacks on 2-0 I thought it was 2-0, but couldn't remember exactly. Did a web search and first one was "3-0", so I went with it. And who else but chuckiehacks corrects me. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  4. Glad to see he is getting a little publicity. I think you mean Baseball publicity... the other kind he was getting wasn't so good. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Glad to hear him doing well, though.
  5. Can we please keep the thread about Braun and not about each other?
  6. Did Salome go through all of that just to get away from the Brewers? Makes you wonder? Why do we have to invent conspiracy theories? Is our inferiority complex that bad? He was our AAA catcher, in line to be starting in the MLB right now. But instead, he is now working his way back with one "strike" against him (medical condition or no, he is going to have to prove himself again). If he really wanted to be out of the Brewers org that badly, something would have been said. It was a medical condition and nothing more.
  7. Braun's hair looks a little shaggy this season. Might account for his success so far. I think he has been using Tom Brady's stylist.
  8. Chuckie hacks 3-0!
  9. Craig Counsell now the only backup infielder for the next week without a roster move. Except that his is starting with McGehee's thumb injury. Emergency 3B has to be Braun (Counsell moving to SS or 2B). Kotsay or Hart could backup at 1B. Unless McGehee only needed one night off, I'd be surprised if they didn't call up Gamel or someone for short term...
  10. a no-glove all-bat 1b/LF is not going to be good value where the Brewers are picking It worked out OK, when we drafted Fielder. Not saying he is Fielder or that we should draft him, just sayin'...
  11. A little late to the game here, but congrats! And selfishly, I ask: Will that effect your contributions here at BF.net also? I realize you will still post, but it seems like most of the draft content came from you. Again Congrats! Find a job you love and you never have to work a day in your life! (I'm still looking...)
  12. I've got to imagine that this year's draft will be the year of the SS.
  13. I don't care if they never actually hit the ball, walks are part of hitting. Yeah, I can't believe this broke down to nit-picking. Best offensive player, best batter, whatever. Its all included. Knowing when to swing the bat, when not to, and what happens when you do...
  14. he has been with the big league club the entire season thus far, with his third and final minor league option year still intact. Dohhh... brain cramp. I forgot he made the team out of ST after that rash of injuries.
  15. You're like that kid who tells everyone else the tooth fairy isn't real. That's more of an unwritten rule...
  16. So, was trading Josh Butler for Gabe Gross worth it? Gross was decent for 2008, but not for 2009-2010. Obviously Butler is looking more and more like a bust (although still has a chance and showed some promise at times). I seem to remember having OFer problems in '08 when Gross would have been useful...
  17. Does Stetter have options? He's been listed as having none or one already this season. I'm not sure if Stetter's option year was officially burned (he has to be in the minors for X days), but he can bounce back and forth between AAA and MLB this year if need be.
  18. So do we cheer for Fielder to get fewer RBIs? Nope. As long as Braun hits 3rd and Fielder 4th, Fielder getting RBIs has no effect on Braun. Braun's RBIs, however heavily effect Fielder's chances. 3 questions: 1) At the end of the season, which of the 3 (BA, HR, RBI) is Braun most likely to be the leader (if only one)? I'd say BA. 2) Which is going to be the hardest for him? I'd say HR. 3) When will the Triple Crown switch to OBP instead of BA?
  19. The #1 unwritten rule is: don't whine about unwritten rules. Curses! The rule has now been written...
  20. DING,DING,DING! Ok, so it wasn't a HUGE prediction, but I have to toot my own horn a little, since I'm wrong so very, very, very often... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  21. To put it in perspective: Fielder will be asking for $20M+ per year starting 2012. Braun will max out $19M in 2016, 4 years later, then decrease every year. Sure, there is risk, but it really shows Braun's commitment to the Brewers long term. Honestly, a few years back, I would have bet money that there was more chance of keeping Fielder long term than Braun. Braun seems more like a big-city type of person, where Fielder seems more low key. But even so, I would imagine those last years of Braun will end up as a DH, so not with Milwaukee.
  22. Edit: We'll say 50 minutes, from when I said that. Believe me, I want this to be over, too. Cue the Tom Petty......THE WAITING IS THE HARDEST PART!! It would seem that uploading it might be a bit harder... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  23. Santo Manzanillo: 1 for 1 in save opportunities, #1 in my heart. With all the Link Report man-love you have been throwing around, the guy doesn't make the P50? I figured he was a shoo-in! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  24. Whomever did theJSOnline Wednesday Game report gave me a good laugh... • You don't see this every day. A robot threw out the ceremonial first pitch to the Philly Phanatic, and bounced it. Of course, Phillies fans booed him. That, you do see every day.
  25. and I think it's all but a given that Santo Manzanillo will as well. Understatement of the year! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Heckathorn might get some helium. He has pitched over 17 innings without a walk and 15 Ks so far. Nice! - Always look before you leap... I didn't realize Heckathorn was already at #6. Not a lot of room to rise, but I really just wanted to post those BB/K numbers.... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif edit- Heckathorn update...
