  1. Frankly, this is what I expected with Adams. Rams, Chargers, or 49ers (though they seem to be contract shedding). Him coming back to the Packers makes him eat his words a bit... not that he burnt any bridges, but he was clear about wanting out to play on the West Coast.
  2. Spring training (for me) isn't about the players or the outcomes... it is the first sign of spring. After winter, it is just about seeing/hearing baseball being played and knowing spring will be here soon. 😍
  3. I would compare Uribe to rookie Quay Walker. Immature and not in control of his emotions. Very different than a Rodger's head-case situation (and easier to fix hopefully). There is that matter of Uribe sitting out his suspension also (another reason why he wasn't with the MLB team last year).
  4. I've not seen him say anything other than ordering another taco... I REALLY think we need a vet WR to set the bar for the younger guys. I'm also nervous about Doub's concussion history so Adam's could take his role very easily (and be better at it). And hopefully help Wicks take the same steps he did to improve his hands.
  5. Yeah, I didn't mean they had similar styles of players. They are late bloomers (well potential for Dunn) on a second team that might fill a role for a couple of years.
  6. McGehee seems like an apt comp for what Dunn could be. One of those surprise players that is decent for a few years. He probably has the best upside at bat of what we have at 3B. Durbin is going to get a strong chance to start, but if he struggles, I'd imagine he is optioned quickly. Monastario probably has an advantage over Capra... Wouldn't surprise me to see Capra released for a 40-man spot.
  7. I'd take him back on the Packers as I think he really covers multiple needs (goto WR, mentor for our young WRs), but I doubt he is interested in coming back. I have to believe he is West Coast bound.
  8. It made no sense to do anything else after the heartburn of last year.
  9. Kind of surprising, but $4M/season isn't big either. I assumed they'd bring back Wilson on a vet minimum deal again (and maybe they will?) instead of McD. But continuity and a strong "floor" for the LB group is good too.
  10. I think we need NFL capable CBs this offseason... perhaps three: One should be a top 3 round draft pick (basically replacing Jaire) One should be a decent vet with maybe untapped upside (basically replacing Stokes) One could be a filled with by picking the best of some UDFAs/fringe vets (replacing Ballentine) I was ready to be done with Stokes, but in reality, he still has some good upside. He just had one healthy season after several injury prone ones, so perhaps second year back can start to regain form? He is still young. As long as the cost is pretty low, I think he would be ok as your 4th CB.
  11. Oh. I don't bother listening to coach's banter. I don't find much value in it (even our own coaches).
  12. No, but I do read their writeups and it prompted me to look into him. 😏 Frankly that is an easy answer. If it were me, I'd say, "Of course my team is good enough to win the SB without the play. But this play aligns really well to my team's strengths, so we obviously use it often and want to continue using it." I'd run for political office except I have ethics...😂 The "official's judgement the receiver would've got two feet in" was stupid. Football shouldn't be in the subjective hands of a ref. I'm not on a campaign to eliminate the play... I'm probably 60/40 in favor of getting rid of it. There are plenty of rules that go against "by any means necessary" otherwise holding, tripping, etc.. would all be legal. We have other rules to prevent people from assisting another, so why not here? I suppose when the first DT gets injured because he has 4 people in front of him pushing into him (OL, QB + 2 tush pushing), then they will ban it.
  13. Especially when guys are 6'7". Those are long levers. 6'10" Randy Johnson took a LONG time to figure it out... but for every RJ, there are thousands of AAAA flameouts that can't find it. Hopefully Les Misiorowski doesn't make the Brewers become Les Misérables
  14. Even this was supposed to be limited to your offensive players pushing the pile by pushing the defenders...not pushing the ball carrier. You could also look at the rules for ST where you can't have two defenders aiding (i.e. jumping off, pushing forward) another player.
  15. I'm still trying to remember when it became legal... It used to be illegal to push the ball carrier forward... You had to push on the defenders, not your teammates. Easy fix.
  16. You mean that there was a doubt?? 😉
  17. He's no Sal Frelick... 😂
  18. It was only a few years ago that we signed Blake Perkins in a similar manner. Not saying Margot will become that, but you churn the bottom of the roster looking for guys like this. Minor league deal makes it that much easier.
  19. So I wonder if Dayo Odeyingbo might be that type of player to target? Seems to be ascending these last four years in win rate and pressures (sacks have fluctuated). He rushes from DE or DT... And one year younger than when we grabbed Z-Smith from Baltimore.
  20. Obviously he played many games when Mitchell was injured during the first 3 months, but several of those games was also as a defensive replacement. He started 104 games last year (thus came in mid-game for 15 games) and played 95 complete games. Dude deserved a GG... (maybe more than Frelick), which is why he was always in CF. Granted Mitchell is no slouch with the leather either... nice problems to have.
  21. I'm oddly warming to bringing back Stokes. That is assuming a vet min contract or not much more. Assuming Jaire is out and a few of our backup CBs are FAs, there is room for a high upside CB that has been struggling the last couple of years. Perhaps another year removed from his major injuries would also help him bounce back also. He can compete in TC with a draft pick or two, some UDFAs and perhaps another vet min CB to be on the depth chart.
  22. I think they Bucks have a second round pick as a result of the trades this mid-season. Plus a couple of years ago, they bought a 2nd round pick with cash.
  23. That occurred to me also. The chances of winning the Big10 title outright is there, but a bit of a long shot. At least getting hit in the mouth today gives him some chance to learn from it. I'd rather win the Big10 tournament anyway. 😉
