  1. Peralta is probably a 75-100 type of player if that even. Jungmann and Bradley listed on any top 100 at this point is pretty iffy. The list as a whole is not very reliable.
  2. Preferred 1st round matchup would be with the Diamondbacks, which would mean the Cards would have to win the Wild Card. I think a series against the Braves would go all 5 games, and a series against the Phillies, which right now wont happen until the 2nd round at least, will be pretty close to a sweep. The Diamondbacks are the only team the Brewers have a clear advantage over.
  3. Braun will probably win the award, but Kemp is having the more impressive season. When you factor in that he plays half of his games in Dodger Stadium (yes, its a pitchers park and that is a valid reason for highlighting Kemp's offensive numbers) and the fact that he plays another big portion of games in AT&T Park and Petco Park, he is clearly having the more impressive season. Throw in the Miller Park, Minute Maid Park, Great American Ball Park, and Wrigley issues, as well as having to face the likes of Bronson Arroyo, Jeff Karstens, Brett Myers, Bud Norris, et al for Braun, the choice is clear as to who is having the better season.
  4. I sat in Miller Park with my son while the Brewers clinched their first playoff appearance in 25+ years. I've seen the team develop some great players, like Prince Fielder and Ryan Braun. I'm hoping to see my team win its first division in 29 years. I can live with that. With the way finances are set up in baseball, I expect more downs than ups, but that's part of life. We can't all be the Yankees. It's been a great year to be a Brewer fan. Perhaps I'll curse the mustached one in the distant future (although I have never brought up Harry Dalton in a negative fashion - for what it's worth), but Melvin has helped deliver far more success than Sal ever did. Very true. But my assumption is that DM's lows may be just as bad as Bando's were. If it werent for the fact that he gets to work with an owner that enjoys spending, Melvin's downs (2013 and beyond, after he is long gone) will be something I bet a lot of new Brewer fans will be cursing.
  5. Are you going to write a similar post in 2023 about how Doug Melvin destroyed an additional 10 years of your life?
  6. I would expect one win for the Brewers in this series. They really arent much of a match for the Phillies this season, no one is. It will be nice to think of it as a playoff preview, but the Phillies are in a whole different class of team. In the past two months of the season, 37% of the Brewers oppoents are really bad (Astros, Cubs, Marlins, Padres), they havent played any playoff teams at all, and their record against teams that are .500 or better during that span is 5-7. At the same time the Phillies have 10%, 7-4 against playoff teams, and 9-4 against teams above .500.
  7. You might want to adjust your disclaimer and state that Braun plays LF poorly. And Kemp has a negative fielding affect on his WAR. I dont think Kemp will win it, but he is having the better season, and plays in a pitcher friendly park with no help at all in the batting order. What he has done this year offensively is nothing short of amazing given all of the factors. Will be very interesting to see what a Fielder-less lineup will to for Braun's numbers next year and beyond.
  8. They are pretty dang close. If Braun were a DH maybe the argument makes sense. Braun has the better shot of winning the award given the Brewers record, but they add almost identical value to their respective teams. Interesting thing is that if you take Braun off of the Brewers, they are still a playoff team, take Votto or Kemp off of their respective teams, and you're looking at hopefully winning 70.
  9. Votto is the best player as of right now, more productive than Kemp or Braun. Even if you give Braun a premium for being on a winning/playoff team, it doesnt match those two guys production. Do I think Votto or Kemp will win? No, we are talking about the BBWAA here. The only shot that Braun or Fielder have of winning the award is if it does not get split, and allow a Shane Victorino or Justin Upton to sneak up and win.
  10. It's dumb to think a pitcher will be good because he has been good in the past?Good in college and projectibility to become a major leage player are two separate planets. Young Geezy hits the nail on the head. Safe picks yet unspectacular. I would have rather had about 3 or 4 other players than Jungmann and Bradley. Barnes, Gray, Swihart.. Barnes and Gray have higher ceilings with higher reward with not really all the much risk.
  11. I have to agree with X. An impact arm can be had from either HS or college. The real issue here, especially when it comes to the Brewers, is that they are very bad at developing pitching. The guys they have "developed", I would argue were guys who couldnt be broken, such as Sheets and Gallardo. With what might be available to them I would prefer a bat at 12 such as Bell or Swihart, and at 15 a college arm. I think the HS arms they they will have a shot at are either not Brewer type picks, such as Archie Bradley, or very breakable, such as Guerrieri.
  12. Barnes and Bell, there you go. Although I would take Swihart over Bell, but the Brewers arent going to be able to sign him, nor would they attempt it. I dont think Gray will be around at 12, and I dont want any part of Guerrieri.
  13. I would be very pleased with Barnes, but really upset with Meyer, especially if they passed on Bradley, Bell or Swihart (at the 12 pick) to take him (Meyer). I think Meyer is another Eric Arnett waiting to happen.
  14. Obviously, if they go HS arm, it will be in the #12 slot. I am completely turned off by Guerreri because of the character issue, as well as the fact that he is considered a "helium" guy. Guy's like that tend to flame out very fast. The whole third pitch thing for me scares me away from him too. Strike 3. If it were me, and Bradley were available, he is my choice at 12. I dont mind Norris, but the only way I go with him is if Bradley and Bundy are already gone. Blake Swihart and Josh Bell are probably available too for 12, so although I wouldnt mind Norris, there are at least 3 other HS players in front of him who would be better picks.
  15. He is, has a QB scholarship to Oklahoma or something like that.
  16. Matt Barnes or Archie Bradley are your guys then. Heck they could probably get both if they wanted to forgo taking a bat in the first round.
  17. If you are referring to Lindor, that's just not going to happen. Although I agree that there isnt anything wrong with taking a pitcher at both spots, they kind of need to play both sides of the ball with the 2 first rounders. One SS who might be available and worthwhile with the 15th could be the kid from UNC.
  18. I would want the exact opposite of your thinking. High impact HS bat/position player at 12 and college arm at 15. My choices would be Swihart and Matt Barnes.
  19. I agree with Colbyjack's assessment of Heyman here. Lindor could be a top 5 guy though, but over Rendon? No way. As for the Brewer picks my choices/hopes would be Matt Barnes and Blake Swihart. If available, I would not take Gray over a guy like Barnes or Archie Bradley though.
  20. Youre right about the 2B/SS issue, my mistake. I was confusing him with Farris. Nonetheless, Gennett doesnt profile as an all star or impact player, the type of player the Mets would like for Reyes. I would say he is sort of like the 2B version of Lucroy. Nice player, probably mlb average, but nothing special. Definitely not impact.
  21. Gennett is the utility player I am referring to. He wont stick at SS most likely, and his bat wont really play anywhere, and thats only if he continues to hit. The Brewers best chance at Reyes is to sign him as a FA during the next offseason. You mention the Mets "getting exactly what they want", but the Brewers have a whole lot of nothing anyone really wants as trading pieces for a major league impact SS.
  22. Not one of those players mentioned is an impact talent, and the Mets will definitely want impact talent in reutrn for Reyes, if he is dealt. If the Mets were desperate enough to unload him, ala Kansas City last December with Greinke, the Brewers would most likely have to include one of Rivas or Peralta, as well as Scarpetta and a bat. But of the players you mention, you have a utility player, a #4 starter, and two guys who profile as 4th OF's. I think in the end, there will be quite a few contending teams out there that have impact talent in their systems to offer (Reds, Cardinals, Giants, Twins, Rays) who also might need a shortstop, who can easily beat any offer the Brewers might be able to scrape up.
  23. The title of this thread may have to be changed. Covey is having a pretty rough freshman year out at USD this season. Big command and control problems. He has 2 years to improve of course, and I suppose its better than having these problems in low class A right now or rookie ball.
  24. This would be the worst trade of all time....5 WAR worth of players for less than 2 in McGehee. I mean loving the home team is one thing, but stacking up your teams guys for fantasy isnt always the best move.
