  1. Yeah, if he's trying to go somewhere before postseason rosters are set, Milwaukee would not seem like a desired destination.
  2. Amir Johnson to Toronto for Carlos Delfino. JS Blog entry
  3. Well, we probably couldn't have afforded Suppan if we were paying Davis...
  4. Melvin says he would need to spend 18 to 20 days down to have the time "deleted" from his record and that the move was not made to delay his free agency. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/53052757.html
  5. He said he didn't necessarily see Weeks as a good fit in center fielder because he's a "power runner" (think Rickey Henderson) rather than a "tall, rangy, long-strider" (think Mike Cameron). He said moving Weeks to CF has been discussed within the organziation basically since he came to the big leagues and that some think he would be good out there. He did say a lineup with both Lopez and Weeks would be attractive, said his "stat guy" would call it a good start to a "sequential lineup".
  6. Macha, at least, seems to think McGehee's injury has affected his defense, so maybe there's hope he would be better if healthy.
  7. Bucks are busier today than the Brewers.
  8. Now they're released Salim Stoudamire. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/52212417.html
  9. Contrasts with Melvin's statement that the D-Backs will hold on to Davis and try to win as many games as they can.
  10. Foxsports.com now reporting that Davis and Garland are available, but drawing "minimal interest". http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/9875596/MLB-trade-deadline-buzz:-Friday's-edition
  11. I don't understand why they would sign Warrick before Sessions had actually signed an offer sheet... maybe he has, but I haven't seen it reported.
  12. Luke French and another prospect per Foxsports.com http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/9875596/MLB-trade-deadline-buzz:-Friday's-edition
  13. I heard a clip of Canseco on a Philadelphia radio station last night in which he denied having any knowledge of Rickey using steroids. It sounded like he was trying to clarify his comments to mean that the HoF will eventually (and possibly already has) have a member who has used steroids... a statistical likelihood, not something he currently has personal knowledge of.
  14. Lee to Phillies is agreed on pending medical record review, per foxsports. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/9866498/MLB-trade-deadline-buzz:-Wednesday's-edition
  15. Some Phillies minor-leaguers pulled from lineup today, SI speculating that Cliff Lee deal may be in works (since Blue Jays apparently still insisting on Drabek in a Halladay deal) heard on Dan Patrick radio show.
  16. I don't have a good feeling about this... what if Mark A. orders Doug to do whatever it takes to get Washburn?
  17. He was quoted saying the exact opposite: Halladay, 33, who has a full no-trade clause, says he hasn't provided a list of teams he'd be willing to play for. Yet after going 10-3 with a 2.85 ERA in the powerful American League East this year, he'd certainly be willing to try life in the National League. "I'd rather hit," Halladay says, "than have to face Derek Jeter and A-Rod (Alex Rodriguez), (Hideki) Matsui and (Mark) Teixeira and all of the other guys." http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/shysterball/article/halladay-must-have-taste-because-he-prefers-the-n.l/
  18. Well, I think he said there were starters available with ERAs above 5.00
  19. Doug Melvin was just on "The Big Show" (1250-AM); didn't say too much that would be considered new information. Sounds like he doesn't expect Bush back for 2-3 weeks. * Thinks we have plenty of offense, just needs to be more consistent * No further details of talks with Toronto
  20. I say nay. There will always be common opponents because each team will have played interleague games. I don't think it's a good method for determining home field, but it's not impossible to do it that way. The rotation between leagues never bothered me, I wouldn't object to using that method again.
  21. Childress decided to go back to Greece. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/50721617.html
  22. I nominate those I-net commercials with all the "meow"s.
  23. Reluctant to recycle Ned's strategy of avoiding Kendall GIDPs by batting him ninth, Macha is batting him leadoff to ensure he gets at least one at bat a game with no opportunity to GIDP.
