  1. Verlander is so nasty in that game. You would think that because he only has three pitches he would be easier to hit, but his pitches are so filthy. 1. Gilbert Arenas (NBA LIve 2008 for 360): not that it's possible to stop anyone in this game, but Gil can hit from anywhere. 2. Bill Hall (MLB 2k7): He isn't as unstoppable as Pujols, Jeter or Manny but he is ridiculously good in this game . . . for Bill Hall. Anything over the plate and he can jack it out of here. I absolutely hate Billy in this game (my friend always picks the brewers)
  2. Best Brewers forum ever. I love the in-game chats. I haven't bought any yet (will soon), but the shop is awesome too. Thanks brewerfan.net
  3. Heres Suppan's latest starts: June 8th: 5.1 IP, 1ER June 14th: 7 IP, 2ER June 20th: 1.2 IP, 3ER June 24th: 6 IP, 4ER July 1st: 5 IP, 5ER July 6th: 3 IP, 6ER Clearly just a statistical anamoly, but Suppan is still getting progressively worse. Suppan's career stats show that he is worse in the middle of the season and gets better in sept/oct (5.25 ERA in July, 4.05 ERA in Sept/oct) but can we sit still when he have solid options in the pen? I say Suppan should be in the home/road platoon with McClung because he has a 6.04 ERA on the road this year compared to a 3.21 ERA at home. We can keep that in order until September when Suppan will stop sucking (its the bottom of the fifth right now and Soup is settling in a little).
  4. I would have to disagree. A pitcher's "stuff" is their inventory of pitches. Location of pitches would fall under their "control" of their "stuff" and "control" is something Mota can't seem to find. I have to believe that Maddux thinks he can fix whatever is wrong, but in the mean time Mota needs a very short leash so he can't blow games.
  5. Theres no reason we need to decide Durham's playing time right now. Give Rickie another shot (he impressed last night) at picking up his production. If he starts to slip I'm sure Durham will see more playing time. At the least Durham is going to put a little pressure on Weeks and he will either produce or he wont. I want to see Rickie play well and I would like to see Durham flourish in an important role off the bench. Durham solidifies our already good bench and that is our biggest advantage over the Cubs and Cards.
  6. I'm excited to see the Cubs pitchers and the disabled list dating again. They are great together.
  7. you can do a free trial for a month (I think it's a month)
  8. Hey everyone, My name is Zach Bowers and I'm a writer for Draftnation.com. We're a new website based out of Eau claire, WI trying to get started. We cover all the pro sports drafts except the mlb draft (we should start coverage on it within the next year) and we are doing something extremely cool right now. It's called "Keep Your Picks" and it's a 32 team tournament in which we ponder who would be top dogs in the NBA if everyone had simply kept their draft picks. It's currently under way right now and later in the tournament the winners will be decided by fan voting. I encourage you to go check it out if you are interested in any of the pro sports drafts.
  9. Elijah Dukes chucked his bat at an ump in the minors. Now he's starting for the team with the most to be mad about . . . not the best combination there. ewizabeff's post sums it up the best. Favorite part from that list is about Ryan Zimmerman's blog.
  10. If Ben does get injured, then the trade was the most important thing we have done in the last twenty years (it might be anyway). The reason we got CC was so that we have two ace level pitchers. If sheets goes down at least we still have CC every five days. The trade wouldn't be a bust because our team's shot at the playoffs isn't done with an injury to sheets like ti did last year.
  11. Is Hardy's range that bad? below average for a shortstop? I never thought about Hardy at 3B, but it's an intriguing idea. He definitely has the arm, but he needs to show down the stretch this year that his bat can remain consistent if we are going to lock him up.
  12. whew. Don't do that again
  13. I'd give Yost a F for chewing sunflower seeds. Can he please put more than one in his mouth at a time? Seriously though Yost isn't a great manager. He does; however, control egos extremely well and get a lot out of most of the young players that enter his clubhouse ie Brady Clark. I completely agree with TooLiveBrew about his greatest strength and weakness is his confidence in his players. However, when it gets to be crunch time I can't imagine Yost blowing a game with a bad decision or winning a game with a good decision. I'm giving Yost a C because he seems to have great relationships with his players, but not so good with the media. I don't think you can give him a worse grade because after a poor start we are now in the playoff hunt and you can't ask for a whole lot more than that.
  14. Yea you are all right. Keep Braun out. I would like to see him though, but I'd rather see him hitting walk-offs against the Cubs/Cards.
  15. I thought Mota would bounce back with us. I'm sure most of you are familiar with Bill Simmons. I just finished reading his book and this post reminds me of the first two sections of that book. The Red Sox "curse" is well documented and their fans suffered for 85 years (something like that) before finally breaking through. We don't have a "curse" like our counterparts to the south, but we have still suffered just as much. (Although I'm a pretty young Brewers fan). I also have feelings of doubt, but when Bill Simmons described what it was like for him as the Red Sox beat the Yankees and won the championship; all I could think was that could be me. Yost wouldn't say it yesterday, but CC gives this team swagger. He's a giant southpaw with filthy pitches. He's an intimidating guy. Sheets has equally as good pitches, but he just doesn't carry the persona that CC does. So I'll confess that I have doubts about this year because it's been beaten into me. I will; however, take solace in the fact that we are in our divisional and wild card race and we just made our team significantly better. I would be scared, but I'm far too excited at the possibility of winning a championship and that's something I've never been able to say about the Brewers.
  16. I'd take home field advantage just because I feel we can win either series and having home field against the Cubs (I don't see either team beating the Cubs either) is huge.
  17. Braun is 8th in the Majors in HR's and he should get in before Adam Dunn (not an all-star). Pat Burrell is right behind Braun (not an all-star as of now) so Braun should be ahead of him as well. The only thing that might hurt him is the concentration of National League hitters atop the HR board (7 of the top 8). Does anyone have a link to the 5 announced?
  18. I wouldn't expect him to have a 3.5 ERA, but I really want him to have a healthy arm going into August and September. He's been a solid pitcher his entire career and he will keep us in games when he is healthy. If he pitches somewhere around 3-4 runs per 6 innings we will have a chance to win. This stint on the DL can only help him and the Brewers because it works out well with the addition of CC and if Bush or McClung falter then Suppan will step in. Obviously I don't want Suppan injured, but I'm glad he's going to the DL because he's just a liability when he is hurt.
  19. Why is it Joe D vs. Weeks for second base in september? Craig Counsell should at least be in consideration because of how well he played when Rickie went down. We also shouldn't forget that Coun sell played a critical role on the 2001 D-backs. He hit .381 in the NLCS. In clutch moments I trust Counsell to either walk or pull a seeing eye single through the hole. Not to mention he's a solid defender. The problem here is finding him playing time during July and August. He is too old to be an everyday player. It all falls back to Rickie Weeks. If he doesn't pick up his game he can't stay in the lead-off spot and will eventually lose playing time to who I think will be Craig Counsell.
  20. Escobar should be our SS of the future. I believe that he should be able to play next season and hit well according to the things I've read. He obviously won't be pulling a rookie season like Braun's, but I think he can be productive. JJ at 2nd is something Tom Haudicort was talking about in a recent podcast. I think it could work out really well if JJ shows he can continue to produce in the second half of the season. If he can be consistent he is a decent #2 hitter. I think it might be worth a try if there isn't a free agent they really like available.
  21. JJ Hardy has a 15 game hitting streak. Conor Jackson only beat us tonight. Last night he bunted over the runners with no outs. Could have been worse. Shouse saved his arm for the eighth tomorrow
  22. Well I don't have any tickets and I am in a bit of a depression after that ridiculous game today. I'd love to give Mota a piece of my mind. Can I get in the drawing?
  23. FSN just showed a graphic comparing NL shortstops. JJ is right there with most of them in avg, hrs, and rbi's. He was only about 10 points behind Reyes in avg and even with him in other categories. I'm ready to declare Hardy the best non-hispanic shortstop.
