  1. They go 6-0 and George Webb is grillin' up free burgers on Friday June 13th. Yes, I'm 100% serious.
  2. Hate to nitpick, but shouldn't Bush be bunting here? If for nothing else than for good in-game practice at it?
  3. Been waiting a while for a game like this...a laugher so far. Let's hope the game continues on it's present track. And while going for a sweep no less. Wow.
  4. I think it's safe to say so. I have never rooted against a player that the Brewers acquired and wished for his failure. That changed today. Some may bash that line of thinking, but I'm just being honest.
  5. Disclaimer: The following quote is taken from an internet blog ranking the top 5 managers most likely to be fired... http://www.bleacherreport.com/articles/25147-The-Morning-Word-Top-Five-Managers-To-Be-Fired Not sure who the author's sources are but it matches up with what my eyes are seeing on the field.
  6. Did you know? Of the 17 mlb managers who have managed in the big leagues prior to 2006, only two have failed to take their team to the postseason as major league managers. Ned Yost and John Gibbons. At least Gibbons has the excuse of managing in a division with the Yankees and the Red Sox. Memo to Doug Melvin and Mark Attanasio: No one, and I mean no one, will be able to accuse you of not exercising patience. But they sure as heck can accuse you of accepting failure. Sidenote: I found the above nugget in a Denver Post column. Yes, they are calling for Clint Hurdle's head less than a year after appearing in the World Series. Yet, Yost bashers get criticized for expecting better results out of a guy who has been given 6 years to get the job done.
  7. I agree with much of what you said. Only I've made many of these same arguments in the Yost thread and the vent thread.
  8. They're flippin veterans, Yost. Quit calling them kids and treating them likewise and maybe they'll stop playing like kids. They should be playing like major leaguers by now. The learning curve with this baffoon at the helm appears to be approximately 10 major league seasons. That works real well for a franchise that has no choice but to develop from within.
  9. Sweet, I miss being able to walk up and buy tickets for a weekend game. Yeah, real sweet. Crowds where you can carry on a conversation with your buddy across the field without shouting are exactly what this franchise needs right now.
  10. http://blogs.jsonline.com/brewers/archive/2008/05/23/brewers-interested-in-tavarez.aspx Just what we need, a turd in the clubhouse. A has-been turd at that. If they sign that guy, Melvin can join Yost on the next flight outta Milwaukee. Edit: Title update.
  11. Just about as tired as the pet word "battle" is Yost calling these guys "kids". They're not kids anymore. They are grown men who should be able to handle criticism and be held accountable.
  12. Swear to god, I just found the same picture. Thanks for the laugh guys, much needed.
  13. I just received an email from the Brewers. The song in question is "Broken Bricks" by White Stripes. lcbj68c, your source gave you the right band, just the wrong song. Thanks for the help all, I appreciate it.
  14. No doubt it's nothing more than a theory, but interesting to discuss nonetheless.
  15. Yeah I know, you guys make a good point there. It does seem like an odd time to make this particular visit. Does anyone at least see how he could possibly be there to evaluate Kremblas?
  16. It seems to me that 99.9% of callups in the past have been done wityhout Melvin going to watch the players in person. They called up ZachJack and DeFelice just in the past week without Melvin sitting in the stands prior. The timing seems akward for this to be just a routine evaluation. Another possibility could be that Melvin is giving Kremblas the task of prepping for a potential call-up to the big show. Put him on notice to get prepared in the case a move is made in the next week. He might not even be showing his hand to Kremblas. He might be there to monitor Krembals without Kremblas even knowing that's what he's there for.
  17. On my way home this evening, believe it or not I had heard nothing of these Badger Blog reports. So I was just generally wondering what move might be on the horizon with Doug Melvin on a visit to Nashville. I got to thinking about what players were sitting in AAA and it just didn't seem like Melvin could possibly think there was anyone there who would make much of an impact. Besides, he made the call to bring up DeFelice without seeing him in person. And he knows full well what he has in Branyan. Then it all made sense. Melvin must be in Nashville for Kremblas. It could be as simple as picking his brain about the young players on the major league squad who Kremblas knows so much about. Or could it be to work out a contract to manage the big club? Bottom line, I think Melvin's primary reason for this visit is to get up close and personal with Kremblas. Maybe to speak with Stan Kyles as well.
  18. It's from the same game story as Braun's comments. http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=752145 He obviously just chose the sequence of his words poorly. I thought it was kind of funny and didn't know where else to put it.
  19. If this quote from Prince Fielder doesn't infuriate folks, I don't know what will...
  20. I'm not looking for a quick fix. I think this season is pretty much lost. Gallardo's injury was a huge blow. But I do not think the day Ned Yost is relieved of his duties can come soon enough. The team needs to move on and get the ship headed in the right direction so that 2009 and beyond can be salvaged.
  21. Why pretend that you never go a little over the top when it comes to Ned. Afterall, these were your words in a recent game thread... "Ahh hell. I can't keep a straight face. There is absolutely no explanation whatsoever. Yost is insane." I guess it's not an overreaction when you say it.
  22. You may not like what he had to say, but to make the leap that he thinks has nothing to improve on is sort of odd.
  23. I could be wrong but I'd venture to say that he has been doing at better job at that lately. Also, why are you answering for brettac1? Are you posting under two names? (pared back nested quote --1992)
