  1. Are you implying that he thinks only his teammates need to improve? Besides, would you have rather he take walks over the 7 bombs he's hit in the last week?
  2. As nonchalant as this team is I think they might have to bite the bullet and hire Showalter. He'll ruffle a few feathers, but he'll steer them in the right direction.
  3. Since there is no black and white reason why a little public bashing might light a fire under a team's butt, I'll throw another unanswerable question right back at you. Why does Lou Pinella publicly criticize his players? Why does he feel as though it will get his team to play better? Point is...why keep asking a question you know you're not going to get an answer to that satisfies you. Sidenote: Nice bomb by Braun!
  4. I have a strange feeling that this topic gets closed and the author gets directed to the vent thread.
  5. I do have have sympathy for Rickie. He does seem to be hitting a lot of balls right at people. I wouldn't use it as an excuse though. He hits plenty of pop ups too.
  6. I'll take that to mean you don't have an answer. I gave you plenty of an answer. It just wasn't black and white enough for you. In the real world, it rarely is.
  7. It doesn't. It's an apparent attempt to get more men on base at the bottom of the order. What good does that do with two black holes batting between the bottom of the order and the big boppers? Is the goal to get men on base for Weeks and Cameron and their sub .200 batting averages?
  8. And I'll ask one more time still...for what purpose? naivin, please just stop asking the question. Why does any manager ever get fired? The way you spin it, it's as though player performance is never a reason behind a manager getting the boot. Haven't you ever found that you worked harder at a job working for one manager as opposed to another. Not because you chose to work hard or not, but because you responded differently to different people. I've never slacked off at any job, but I did achieve more than I ever thought imaginable in a short span working under a boss who drove me beyond my expectations. He never let me relax. I'd acquire a skill in one week. I'd expect that I'd have a month or two to get comfortable with the new tasks on my plate. Instead he'd throw something else at me the next week. I was running the company in under a year. If I had worked under my timeframe, it would've taken me 10 years to accomplish all that. If it took more than results on the field to get a manager canned then we'd only see them fired when they commit embarrassing public acts.
  9. My apologies then. I just don't want to see a million occurences popping up where when all defenses of Yost and/or Melvin are exhausted we refrain to the who would you hire argument to shut people up. With Hardricourt using it in print and on the radio I can't get over how low-ball it is.
  10. Fans surely don't have the extensive list of names. And they definitely don't have all the information needed to make an assessment. It's actually pretty ridiculous to expect any fan to come up with a realistic list of candidates. They have no clue of who is truely available. And they certainly haven't heard of all the names that are out there. Example: What fan on Earth would have chosen Mike McCarthy as his or her top choice for Packers head coach before his name appeared in print as a candidate for the job. Heck, many people were against him even after hearing about his resume. Ted Thompson obviously knew more about him other than the fact he coordinated a last place offense.
  11. No offense Peavey, because you are far from the first person to use the old, "who do you have in mind" line...BUT the fans sure as heck don't have the inside sources of the game that MLB executives have with regard to upcoming and qualified talent evelauators and baseball minds. I would hope that Mark Attanasio has access to a heck of a lot more extensive list of potential replacement for both manager and general manager than any fan could come up with. Tom Hardicourt keeps using that line as his fallback whenever he runs out of arguments for keeping Ned Yost. I'm not even over the hump on whether or not it's time for Melvin to go. But I do know that Ron Wolf always had a list of names ready to replace the head coach. He even had a list in the end for replacing himself. And there's a growing trend of hiring outside firms whose sole reason for existence is to find replacements for front office positions proving that even people within the game are seeeking an assist to get the right man in place.
  12. Could you imagine what Lou Pinella would have said following that debacle? And we're supposed to be afraid that if Ned tears his players a new one, that they'll all pee their pants and be incapable of taking the field the next day. Lou Pinellla was a players-only meeting away from resigning after the Cubs poor start last year. Derek Lee spoke up and told his teammates that Lou's tough love was not the problem. They needed to man up and start performing. Result: Lou stays and teams starts playing baseball. Ned has these guys playing like teenage boys feeling sorry for themselves. "I hit it hard but it's always right at someone." I made a couple bad pitches, other than that I coulda got the win." We need a manager in here that will hold these players accountable and make them look in the mirror like the Cubs players did last year.
  13. It's early, don't panic. All the Brewers need to do is go 70-49 the rest of the way to finish with 90 wins.
  14. Ladies and gentlemen...Your Last Place Milwaukee Brewers.
  15. How about a big fly by Braun with bases full? That would be a nice change of pace from all those solo shots.
  16. Run right out of another scoring chance. These are the things that happen when fundamentals are poor and there is no accountability.
  17. "Icky Thump" is not the song played during the warmups of the top of the 1st. Or we're you answering someone else's inquiry?
  18. Yes that's the one. Glad to hear you're on it.
  19. No. That's "O Fortuna" played in the bottom of the first.
  20. I think Weaver got thumped pretty good in Nashville today. The final numbers are in the minor league forum, but it would be hard to justify giving him a spot after today's performance.
  21. "O Fortuna" is the song the play right before the Brewers bat in the bottom of the 1st. That's not the song. I'm looking for the song they play when they take the field in the top half. EDIT: I checked the player intro thread and it looks like identifying songs at MP is a hobby of sorts for you, ewizabeff. You might be my best hope.
  22. Thanks for the lead, I'll check into that.
  23. I'm having a heck of a time identifying the song played while the Brewers take the field for the first time at home while the starter is making his warmup tosses and the fielders throw the ball around. This is after they play "Bring Em Out" repeated three times. I'm not looking for the song with Jay Z. I'm looking for the song they play after that. All they're using from that song is the Bring Em Out drop. It's accompanied by a video highlight presentation. If anyone knows please respond. I can't realy make out the words and the vocals are hard to distinguish. It sounds like a song that Rage Against The Machine might sing but I don't think it's them.
  24. Momentum takes more than 1 game to build. It would be hard to argue that Colorado didn't build some momemtum at the end of last year. Prolonged winning stretches build confidence if anything.
