  1. Should have used Yo last night as a pinch-hitter for, well, anyone except Braun and Fielder. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif
  2. You could probably get Jason Kendall for a bag of resin. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  3. Cool...more incompetence from #3. Now we're not only throwing injured players out there for the duration of a 12-inning game, but we're making them squat, get up, squat, and repeat a hundred-plus times while they play. What a great idea!!
  4. Like I said, maybe I'm on a kick. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif
  5. Meh. Jenkins is slumping mightily, and like I said, I think he did what he felt he had to do to keep the inning going. I'm okay with that. I'm not in a spot where I can rip someone for getting on base. Maybe I'm just on an anti-Ned kick, but I'm more peeved that Mench was allowed to bat in a really big spot against a right-hander. Sure, the Reds could have brought a lefty in to face Gwynn, but Gwynn has been better against lefties this year than Mench has been against righties...small sample size understood. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. Please don't demote Balfour. Nashville deserves better. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  7. Against righties, Kevin Mench has a 23.3% chance of reaching base. I'll take Jenkins' 27.1% chance of getting a hit over Mench's 23.3% chance of doing anything that doesn't involve making an out. That said, it's hard to blame Jenkins for doing what he could to extend the inning. It's not his fault that the manager let a right-handed hitter hit in a situation where he's hardly ever successful, especially when there was a left-handed hitter on the bench.
  8. Ned was probably thrown off by the outing Jeff Bennett gave him during that 17-inning game in Anaheim in 2004. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif
  9. Um...overworked? Look at the saves leaders in baseball. Look at the innings logged by the nine guys in the top ten who aren't named "Francisco Cordero". You'll find seven of the nine have pitched as many or more innings. Overworked?
  10. Why is it apparently okay for Estrada to practically walk to first, but it's so bad to have a pitcher miss the strike zone that Ned sees fit to dress the pitcher down in front of the world?
  11. At the point Estrada pulled his stunt, Weeks was still on the bench. Gwynn never played.
  12. I absolve them of nothing. As usual, the last significant moment is the one most discussed. But Estrada is still garbage, and Graffanino before him.
  13. That's not what I said. I've seen it, but not often. It's certainly not "the rule" or the "book", which is what I'm questioning. What sense does that make?
  14. You mean there isn't one guy on that roster who couldn't put the gear on in an emergency?
  15. That's because the book wavers in and out of the realm of common sense. You use your closer in the ninth or tenth inning of a tie game when you're at home, but you don't use him in the 12th inning when you're on the road? Huh? Whatever happened to using your best available pitchers before rolling out the garbage?
  16. Are we saving him for the 18th? How many innings do the likes of Balfour and Spurling give you before you stop rolling the dice?
  17. Funny that the book fades in and out at Ned's convenience.
  18. Balfour shouldn't even get the courtesy of being sent down. He's useless now just like he was before his arm fell off in Minnesota.
  19. You're right. Why would you want to use your best pitcher in a game-saving situation? No wonder this idiot still has a job. There are plenty of people who are more than willing to stick up for his irrational decisions.
  20. And here comes the walkoff. Thanks for the meeting, Ned. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  21. I had a dream the other night. A manager suffered an attack of common sense and actually broke this rule.
  22. Balfour? Did Cordero eat some bad food in the clubhouse?
  23. The only thing missing was him turning away from the plate and whimpering after the pitch hit him. Otherwise, it was a Roger Dorn Moment.
  24. Shouse really seems to be improving lately...pretty much ever since they let him pitch those three innings in Minnesota. Not sure if there is a correlation.
  25. Not to point fingers elsewhere besides Estrada, but... 1. Did anyone else notice that the first pitch to Mench was in the exact same spot as the pitch that hit Jenkins, yet it was called a strike? 2. Hello! Graffanino in the ninth. Could you have ASKED for a better pitch to hit? 3. Isn't this Bill Hall's fault for not healing fast enough? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
