  1. Texas looks like they are going all-in.
  2. I dont think ballplayers in their early 20's need every media comment to be parsed like the State of the Union Address. From what I have observed, Prince has been nothing but a top-notch guy for his time in Milwaukee (Manny might disagree). If he chooses to leave...then I'll miss him and wish him well. I was kind of hoping my yet un-born grand-kids would be able to see his statue out in front of MP...but whatever.
  3. I with The Falcon...if this is what Prince would bring back. Then I'd rather enjoy his last 162+ game in Milwaukee and take the picks. I'm wondering if this Philly/Houston trade ends up being bad for both teams?
  4. That is why there is only on division of summer baseball (the lack of teams). I know that if the number goes below that 50 mark there is serious consideration to dropping the summer state tournament. There has been a proposal kicking around to sort of split the difference and have one season that would start on May 1 (regular season) and then conclude with the state finals the last week of June. Many of the communities that have viable legion teams are opposed. As a (former) basketball coach, I didn't care for the summer season as much as it took kids away from summer leagues and camps. Understood that was self-serving. I do know it is "harder" to get people to coach, work, umpire and kids to participate in the schools that have a summer program FWIW.
  5. But that trio is pretty cheap.
  6. I am a very casual hockey fan. I don't root for anything Minnesota. Or Chiago. I tend to root only for the teams north of the border. I still follow LA a bit. Throw back to Wayne's days there.
  7. Jim Kern had an awsome beard.
  8. I do like how Ken has used Ax in more then the 1-inning role. I'm with JB12 on this one. We sort of need cheap players that can perform a bit. If Ax keeps this up and now it's the year 2012, then maybe deal.
  9. Obviously I never coached at anything close to this level, but there are other ways to defend bigs. It doesn't have to be one-on-one. I'd suspect there are viable in-game plans on how to squeeze the opposing center when Andrew is out. If Bogut gets hurt, there is an issue. I wouldn't be stunned if there is another deal for a back-up 5. However, I hope its not to get a big body as was pointed out above.
  10. If Gamel becomes a viable MLB option, sure the 'Crew could move Casey. I'd take care however as well all know 3rd has been a bit of a black hole for this team.
  11. If Prince gets 6+ years and anything over that $135-million, I'll be the first to wish him luck and hope the best for him...elsewhere.
  12. If things go well, those guy you list will not need to get many minutes this year. I'm not sure what the Kings were thinking, but whatever.
  13. Depends upon what possible deals are out there, but unless it is something pretty impressive...I'd not dismiss the idea of keeping that cap space.
  14. I'd think they could flip him come Feb. However, I'd like to see Milwaukee consider just holding on to the the contract.
  15. I thought it was in the bank that Sandberg was getting the gig. Hope Bob Denier gets the hitting coach job. Maybe Scott Sanderson as the pitching coach?
  16. I thought you could go to 17 w d-leauge guys...that might have been the old rule. Gooden will be fine, but I agree with you guys; they could have been Ok w/o him. I'm betting he gets flipped after 2 seasons. I know very little about Dooling. From the little I read he seems to be Ok in the right spots (and not played too much).
  17. exactly. I'm suprised MLB hasn't done that. Or other owners haven't insisted.
  18. Move the whole part to NJ.
  19. the 1992 team was (IMO) the best team the 'Crew has had since 1982 and has to rank up there with the 81, 78 and 08 teams. That was a fun year.
  20. Well...I suppose that would open up a park for the A's to play in.
  21. Remember Ned got caught up in this with the Cards a few years ago and (rightfully so) was mocked here for not keeping his focus on winning the game.
  22. I'd assume Ben will not get 10-million for next season and that the A's will look to move him before August 31.
  23. I went to Rockfest last night. I was suprised what a good show that Limp Bizket put on. Alice in Chains was Ok...Drowing Pool was very good!
