    Yet we were fine with the way Turnbow finished the year? I highly doubted beaning 1 batter would ruin wise's career. That would be a little far fetched. ...not that hitting one guy is going to 'ruin' a career...it was how he pitched after that. Going into the season, Milwaukee came up with (at the time) better options then Matt. I'm certainly not rooting against the guy, but I think it is understandable why DM, et al. wanted to go a different direction.

    I wonder if there is any thought about Weaver moving to the pen? He may get some pop back on his slider and fastball...Understood that he has far more value to a team (any team) if he can start...but might be a way he can still have some value. At this point he wouldn't fit in with the 'Crew, but might help somebody.

    I think Jim Powell said it last week, that Billy is @ his best when he is playing pepper with the RF wall. I guess I can sort of see his point of view that he is not pleased with less playing time. I wouldn't want him to be happy about it. Let's see what shakes out on this. He may respond and revert back to the Billy of '06 or he may sulk his way out of town. Either way, he has been a pretty loyal trooper thus far.

    Billy would make a nice SS (at least on D) for a team. Just thinking out-loud, but I wonder if JJ and TGJ could land any pitching of value?

    Crazy thought, but MLB could say that the DH will be added to both leagues, but no player can occupy the position more then X-amount of games...thus making sure the DH had to play other positions and wasn't just a hired gun...or teams could get 2 or 3 of them on the bench...but then not have depth at other positions...

    I'd guess that a 're-eval' will happen after this road trip. If the 'Crew bounces back and ends up 4-5 or 5-4, Ned should be fine (maybe he should be fine, anyway). In fairness, Boston is quite a bit better. Now, if the Pittsburgh and Washington series go south...

    Bad pitching and defense > good offense. More than anything this season, I am disappointed in the 3-4-5 spots in the rotation. I was a true believer that we had enough depth...perhaps I was in error.

    From just my perspective, I sort of like it. Especially when the 'Crew gets the "old AL East" teams. For me that is kind of fun.

    ...I know I'm in the minority, but I'd like to see Prince get locked up too. However, I'd think that moving one of the prospects first would occur as to not drive their value down at all.

    Only thing is the way Matt finished last year; would have been hard for anyone to count on him.

    I agree with end...assuming the Giants are Ok with that...

    While I am not as ready to pull the trigger on a trade as of yet, by June 1st or so, it might be needed to stay in the 08 race. Not to suggest I know more about anything baseball related then DM...I just hope adding a quality starter via trade isn't dismissed out-of-hand.

    Just hang in there, see how things shake out. What other choice is there? If I was going to stop watching the 'Crew, sure would have pulled the string a few years back.
