  1. Thanks End, good stats. Shows that middle relief guys (6th inning) tend to struggle.
  2. I'll just walk in and begin ranting of the evils of the sac bunt!
  3. I guess what I'm trying to say is that one run early in the game is 'worth' more V Santana and the few pitchers of his caliber then most others. Again, I agree with being judicious with outs: I'm trying to say that situations like Saturday might be where playing the % game might be outweighed by the quality of the opponent and the (possibly) perceived value of the run in question. Spock would say there is a time where logic dictates an emotional response.
  4. I hate it when reality outweighs my perceptions...happens to dang much!
  5. The situation was Kapler at the plate and Rickie was on 2nd with 0 outs. I understand an agree with End and the rest of you...but...given it was against Santana and runs should be at a premium and (maybe I over-value) the psychology of getting an early lead against him...I just thought it was one of circumstances where the manager could play 'small-ball' and be justified in the approach.
  6. I thought they had an opportunity to do so V Santana in the top of the 1st on Sat. Granted, it worked out in the end, but I would have had Gabe bunt Rickie to 3rd. There was nobody out @ Rickie had just stole 2nd. V pitchers like Santana, it sure is nice to get a run early.
  7. I guess with Derrick the situations where he has been successful and where he isn't are so dramatic, it is hard to give Ned a pass if he uses Turnbow counter to that data. I'll agree that it certainly limits the pen and to some extent ties Ned's hands. If the 'Crew, however is going to keep him...it is what it is.
  8. T Bone is an instrument of destruction; cool.
  9. 2 is right. DM had the right idea, but that trade was made on 2005 not 2007 abilities. I wonder if the 'crew tried to also move Gabe Gross in this deal, if they could get back a vet OF that really could be a PH. I like Gross, but he seems to struggle in that role. Really we could do some combo of Seth, Gynn, Turnbow and Gabe to target a vet PH/OF and some sort of ML-fodder.
  10. Not to change the topic, but I posted this @ the end of the game-thread, but it was to late to get much response. Was anyone else hoping that Ned would have had Gabe bunt Rickie over to 3rd in the top of the 1st yesterday? With Santana on the mound (turned out not to matter) I thought playing for 1 run right away was not a bad idea.
  11. Wow, you don't read everyday that someone is upset that they are distracted FROM watching a Bucks game.
  12. Jason Kendal has to get a day-off sometime...maybe July?
  13. I didn't wade thru the 21 pages, so this might have been talked about already, but did anyone think Gabe should have bunted in the top of the first to move rickie over from 2nd to 3rd before Prince hit his single?
  14. I only say that Saurday's game is a bigger one because if the 'crew loses, then they can't take the series.
  15. More then anything, what I have learned the most @ BF is that batting order matters little, except when Ned fills it out.
  16. Monty is 'on-base' with this one. If Rickie keeps a +.400 OBP we can live with that. Hard part is that Milwaukee used such a high pick on him. Any other team would 'settle' with that production, but the 'crew has a vested interest for more. Not a lot of options really available for this year.
  17. The East-West connection was were it was at for me! Kenny "Sod-Buster" Jay and The Superdestroyers were also very cool.
  18. I would think Gwynn to the DL is an easy move. Seth might have made the opening day roster so he could be cut when Yo is ready. A guess on my part, but seems plausible.
  19. If I remember correctly, the 'Crew used Brady to hit #4 some that year...
  20. Use the 3-date rule. After 3, make the call. Just a thought to consider, you could see her and keep it sports orientated only. She could be 'one of the guys'...just smells better.
  21. There is a shortage of the traditional piviot player that plays with his back to the basket.
  22. I saw Tommy Lasorda do this back in either 81 or 82 with Fernando.
  23. If one of the minor league guys was Joe Nathen or Franciso Liriano...that would help.
  24. It might be hard to move Redd until next year. He has 3 years left on the contract. Mo might need a change. He can play, but LH put together to many guys that have the same skill-set (Redd, CV, Mo, Simmons). Sessions might be the guy, but adding another 'big' point-guard would be real nice. I'd love the Bucks to be able to add a legit #4 who can defend. Redd could really be something else (Bogut too) if they played along side 2 top-flight defender. Bottom line is the new GM is looking at 2-3 years to get this going. By then Redd is a FA.
