  1. Yeah I like seeing candid photos from people down at Spring Training. Have only seen that on Twiiter and not much there even. Maybe now that camp is fully up we'll get more.
  2. HAHAHA that's hilarious. He's good.
  3. I feel a bit bad for keon if he's optioned but striking out 175 times and having a sub 300 OBP shouldnt cause you to be surprised when new players brought in.
  4. Not sure why there isn't one. I think it'd be good to talk about camp battles at various spots (journeyman long relief), camp notes and stories. Anyways, here is my first sighting of "best shape of life" - Brent Suter: https://www.mlb.com/brewers/news/brent-suter-has-leg-up-on-brewers-roster-spot/c-266591974 Keon with a fairly level headed response to new additions : https://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/mlb/brewers/2018/02/17/put-tough-spot-brewers-outfield-glut-keon-broxton-focused-improvement/331873002/
  5. Hope he does. Each day that passes he loses a day of his fading youth. He has very little leverage at this point.
  6. It's even wilder that we defend the pocketbooks of billionaires over the millionaires (and tons of guys playing for league minimum) who actually perform on the field for us. I don't think fans are defending the pocketbooks of billionaire owners. I think fans want their teams that they root for to build good teams. Spending willy-nilly on overpriced veterans when there are cheap and younger and often better options available is what's good for the team and a lot of fans understand that. It's not so much choosing a side, it's fans that understand what's best for the team in terms of wins and losses in the long run. Yep.
  7. Your Harpers and Trouts, young and elite, I don't mind getting these monster contracts. It's the 32 yr old Arrietas of the world, who will never earn their contract yet feel entitled, which bother me. Does it also bother you that basically every player that reaches Arrieta's point has been vastly underpaid in the context of production for their first 5 or 6 seasons? Definitely agree but that's not how things are structured now so I don't feel bad. Hope they figure out a way to pay players at their peak and balance small market interests. It does bother me when my team pays an aging player who doesn't produce though. The idea of a 36 yr old Arrieta...*shudder*

  9. If the players want to get PAID$$$$, they need to: 1. Negotiate less years of team control into the next CBA so elite players are hitting free agency around the 26-28 yr range when they are still going to perform on the tail end of the contracts. 2. Institute a salary cap (can be high, as long as revenue sharing balances playing field) so small markets who benefit the most from longs of team control of their prized prospects can still compete with the big boys without those years of team control. I could care less about rich owners staying rich. There will always be the uber elite 1% rich . Can't stop that. I care about my team getting hamstrung paying 35-38 year olds. I'm glad teams are wising up and not taking huge risks paying these geezers (I'm older than them haha). ALBERT PUJOLS. The horror.
  10. Thanks for the update even though it wasn't "News" !
  11. Well I can promise you that is not going to happen. Something else has to fall. Santana is not going to be some 4th OFer/1B. They will have to either trade Braun(lol), Santana(bet my life on it), or Thames. Don't forget Phillips as 5th OFer and Broxton...waived? Does he have options?
  12. MOAR PLEASE!
  13. Anyone but the Cubs. He'll burn out two years from now but first year at least he'll help them.
  14. Not sure I agree with this. That bullpen could be a major problem for them. Of course, the offseason isn't over yet. I definitely agree with your opinion on Stearns' moves though. On a related topic, if any mods see this, is it possible to change a username? Mine is really stupid and I'd like to change it if possible. No it's great! They should die! Also, Cubs aren't powerhouse. They caught magic in 2016. They are good but not powerhouse.
  15. I'd be very happy to sell high on him. I don't think he'll make enough contact to do much in MLB.
  16. If Gallardo is in the rotation it will be a real step back and I'm not sure why we're doing it. He clearly has nothing left. This will be year 3 of the rebuild. When do the steps forward begin. IDK, just disappointed in reading Cards frontrunner for Archer when I would have liked to seen him on Brewers.
  17. I don't recall his velocity being back...
  18. trwi7...wow. I'm a pessimist but you take the cake. We also have a pretty miniscule payroll and a decent cache of prospects on the near horizon. And what appears to be an elite GM.
  19. Game's an absolute trademark game this season. Fitting. Score early, famine late. Lots of dinked to death. Ouch.
  20. I agree but it's probably no worse than previous years. It's just pitchtrax and foxtrax is always up so you see every pitch. I'm all for robot umps. I'd rather it get called correctly than "even up in the end".
  21. I know what this is but what does it MEAN? Our attacking style is used against us in later innings but benefits us early? Why we're good early I really couldn't say. But I've seen a few suggestions as to why we're bad late. One is platoon splits; teams play matchups later on which hurts us. But the one I buy into the most is a rather simple one. It's a strikeout-prone team. That gets exploited even more by a high strikeout pitcher, which is what late-inning relievers tend to be. That makes sense.
