    I’m about 80/20 in favor of O’Hearn over Suarez. I’d rather not shake up the infield. But, yeah, I’m sure Arnold has lines in the water on both of them.

    It’s definitely a testament to the MLB scouting that they had their eye on a guy and were able to make a trade for someone they believed in before Civale’s vocal cords stopped vibrating.

    Just googled and found that at the end of September, the Coastal Commission ruled against Attanasio and the construction firm he hired. Then, in November, a Judge stayed the lawsuit pending more investigation. Go Brewers! Beat the Nats!

    Good point. It also underscores that I am more confident in Ashby than I am in Murphy knowing what to do with Ashby.

    The team is hot. The trade deadline, and the draft are around the corner. The affiliates are playing well. The prospects are exciting. It's a good day to be a BrewerFanatic.

    In that LAD game, he couldn't throw his curve for strikes. That happens every now and then. Perhaps "every 3rd or 4th outing" is correct. When he has a game like that, I think Contreras/Haase/Hook/Murphy need to assess that early, have him lean on his Sinker and Slider for the three-batter minimum, and then get him off the mound. My worry is that Murphy is too stubborn to make a quick assessment like that. Too often, he has given the appearance of a manager who has a plan that he doesn't want to adjust.

    In a vacuum, yes, I would shift the infield around and plug in just the right piece, but when it comes to actually available players, it kind of feels like Eugenio Suarez, Ryan O'Hearn, or bust. Suarez could work with the Turang --> SS, Collins --> 2B scenario. O'Hearn would just mean the displacement of a healthy Hoskins. If I'm the GM, I'm looking for ways to do a slight overpay to get O'Hearn to MKE as soon as the All Star Game ends.

    I don't think there's enough in his profile to believe that he's going to improve that much. I think he's on the wrong side of the aging curve, and we're better off with Collins manning left.

    I’d love to get Abrams. Pratt makes sense if they believe they can start to compete in 2027. But that also lowers the value of Myers and Patrick, since they’d already be hitting/close to Arby around that time. Pratt, Henderson, Wichrowski, Myers would hurt, but it would be dealing from our strengths while hanging on to Quero, Pena, and Made.

    I had been assuming Elvin would be the DFA for when Cortes or Perkins comes off the 60-day. It just makes you wonder what else Arnold has in mind.

    Trading Quintana and/or Cortes makes sense, regardless of what they do with the rest of the roster. Getting a projectable lotto ticket for Cortes would be nice. Salary relief would probably be beneficial too. Perhaps we could expect a bit more for Quintana. There are some other pieces of the roster where we have a light surplus. I could see sending Alfaro or Siegler and Perkins to SD for a minor leaguer or two. As far as additions are concerned, this year more than ever, I would rather go big than tinker around the edges with anything else. I spent way too much of my morning pouring over players who seem like they would be big-time difference makers. The two that jump off the page are Jose Ramierez and CJ Abrams. Something involving Pratt, Tobias, Wichrowski, + is what I'd hope to see, but both CLE and WAS would be asking for Made or Pena.

    Yoph also has a 75 wRC+ at Boston's high A team after being at 124 in the DSL in 2023 and 112 in Carolina in 2024.

    Nothing happens in a vacuum. Having Durbin in that spot giving that defense for his current contract is better than having Dunn or Capra at 3B and Devin Williams and his contract in the bullpen. I have struggled to imagine a reasonable alternative at 3B that would be a big improvement, and it feels like it would be too much prospect or financial capital for it to be worth it. For those reasons, I'm content with current Durbin, and hopeful about future Durbin.

    I live in Georgia where Brewer fans are rare. A friend of mine got my daughter a signed Christian Yelich card for her Confirmation back in the middle of May. Yeli went on a tear shortly after that. I mentioned it to the guy-that he must be good luck-and he asked me, "Well, who else on the team needs to improve?" I mentioned Joey's sub-.200 BA. On June 10th, he handed me a signed Joey Ortiz card. Who should I tell him about next?

    This is very interesting to me from the perspective of prospect valuation. How to line up a trade like this... First of all, IFA$ has to be traded in increments of $250K, which means the Crew and other teams could only play in these waters if they have that much left over. For LA/SD/TOR, the chance at geting Roki comes with a huge pile of surplus value. Missing out on him might also mean missing out on key IFA kids who jumped to another team. So the value of that $250K (or 500K or 750K or 1M) is very different for the 27 teams than it is for the three.

    This article https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/12/athletics-risk-mlbpa-grievance-without-further-payroll-increases.html said that the A's could receive $70M in revenue sharing, and therefore need to have a payroll of at least $105M. That makes the Severino signing make more sense. The A's paltry attendance is cited as one reason for receiving such a large piece of the revenue-sharing pie. Does anyone know where one could find the full breakdown of those revenue sharing numbers? Thre Crew had 2.5M in home attendance, but had the WORST TV deal. I'm curious with Milwaukee's take is.
