  1. I think they gotta option a young outfielder. But I dont like that.
  2. So Williams pitched on Sunday. Could he go on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday and be back in MKE next Monday for the start of the ATL series?
  3. If it was May 21, I would say, "of course." Now that we're about a week from the deadline, I'd rather they go after a more impactful arm and save the tinkering for the offseason and next spring.
  4. I want to be cautious with judgement until the trade deadline passes (no move happens in a vacuum). And I don’t want to hug prospects at the expense of the playoffs. However, I don’t understand why they believe this guy is worth a 40-man spot on July 21. Much less on whatever day Hall, Williams, and Ross are off the IL.
  5. Nevermind. Kuhnel had taken Gasser's spot on the 40 and CFRod's spot on the 26 Haase and Keuchel took Ross and Kuhnel's spots on the 40 man Haase and Keuchel took Sanchez and Kuhnel's spots on the 26
  6. And we still need Kuechel to get added to the 40 man??
  7. I have a quick thought; It's short, but not terse. We need a whole thread Devoted to verse. This team's winning ways Deserve more than prose, And poetic rhymes Will ease all our woes. In Treego's honor, Just give yourself time For poetic thought Submit your best rhyme.

  9. I live down south and was at the game at Gwinnett yesterday (6/16). DL Hall pitched the first two innings. The Gwinnett hitters just looked off balance against Hall. Hall was sitting 91-93 I went out by the bullpen with my kids to watch Ashby warm up. He was definitely working on stuff. He seemed to be checking with the BP catcher and other pitchers on the way his breaking pitches were coming out of the hand and whether they had late movement or not. Once he got into the game, he gave up quite a bit of hard contact. His fastball was sitting 93-95, but the Gwinnett hitters seemed much more at ease facing Ashby than Hall. I'm hoping that he's refining somethings with his breaking pitches, and will eventually be able to live around 94 with good breaking stuff.
  10. I think JD Martinez plays dirty. This is 95% on him, 5% on pitch framing. Last year he hit William's glove twice in a game against the Dodgers. I don't have video, but it seemed to me like once he got in a bad count, he was looking for the catcher's glove and swinging at it.
  11. my gut instinct was that the front office just wanted to offset the two suspensions so that they aren't happening concurrently. uribe can work on some things in aaa. then he can come back up and serve his suspension once we have hall, gasser, junk, or someone else back off the il. and crucially, when bryse wilson can be back in the pen eating innings. it feels a little bit manipulative, but since freddy's suspension was completely unwarranted, i don't mind it one bit.
  12. Presented without further comment.
  13. According to Fangraphs, Jordan Walker's defense has almost completely negated his offensive value. wrc+ of 116, WAR of 0.2
  14. I very much agreed with you when the news on this first dropped, but I have eased up on it a bit since then. I don't mind the idea that a team can pick multiple guys. If lower end teams want to churn through the lower end of their 40 man rosters, it probably doesn't move many needles. I agree that the whole fallout of this week feels like a pretty stupid way to run things. For the Brewers specifically, it's probably better that the Ohio got to gobble up most of the players. If it had been one player per team, the Cubs might have gotten the last player available.
  15. So, when the dust settled, Cleveland needed to give up on the season, and they got three pitchers. The Reds needed pitchers, and they got two outfielders. Seattle got a RH Reliever who is worse than Chafin (and worse than chafing). Which means that the Twins (ALC) and the Cubs, Giants and Diamondbacks (NLWC) have the most to complain about.
  16. Yes. He was consistent. And I appreciate that. Because Miley pitched well and Tallinn pulled it together after the ambush, it didn’t make a difference. if this had been a Peralta start, he could have been over 100 pitches and not done with 5 innings. The effect of a tight zone like that feels pretty context dependent.
  17. Yeah! I agree! I want Chafin to pitch.
  18. My 7 year old is a very rowdy little boy. He calls Rowdy "John".
  19. Bryse Wilson and Hoby Milner came up huge.
  20. Houser gave up homers and has a sore forearm. the padres wanted to walk the world. wild bill has a boomstick. the brewers ready their broomsticks
  21. It woulda been hard to justify sending him down a few weeks ago, but with Canha, Taylor, and Frelick all doing fine and Joey being in such a funk, I’m all for it. Let him play every day in Nashville and exorcise his demons.
  22. It’s not that I think his post IL production should have been a certain thing or another. I had assumed that his initial injury - before the finger was a fake injury to get him some practice at bats. I’m just ready for the Tyler Black experiment to begin.
  23. How many people have ever been DFAd on the day after their bobble head?
  24. Valid. I think there's an element of how you weight past performance and whether someone can maintain something into the future. For me (the 6 or 8 stats that I tend to gravitate towards), all of Alonso, Diaz, Goldy, and Walker have some question going forward about which version shows up for 2024.
