  1. Gotta be the end of the road for Siegler - at least on the 26-man.
  2. OK, can Contreras go on the IL now, and get all the way right for the playoffs?
  3. If Suarez was a shortstop, I could get there with Pratt (because of Made/Pena in the system), and would have a harder time dealing Henderson (because I see him as one of our top 3 starters next year), but would be willing to have either be the headliner. The upgrade would be massive. But for me, the upgrade to Suarez (pushing Durbin into Mona's utility role) isn't big enough to merit headlining a deal with either of those two. I would have to start with someone a little lower on our prospect board. Letson and Crow+ a flyer.
  4. Definitely not outrageous to want to use that $800K+ of overage. When everyone involved wants to hang on to a little bit of bargaining leverage, I can understand that teams have to hedge their plans at least a little bit. In a year when one of their picks was a comp for Levonas not signing, meaning they wouldn't get anything back if they failed to sign that guy, I'm content with getting what we got.
  5. Who wants to sign for $896755?? (I'm lookin at you, Cadiz!)
  6. When did the Sox runner leave from second? Did he not realize that the Infield Fly rule had been called?
  7. I thought this until I read the article. (I'm not suggesting you didn't read the article, it's just that was my own hot take.) It seemed like a planned meeting. Perhaps decorum and thoughfulness on Harper's and Manfred's parts would help pave the way toward solving this. (According to the article, Manfred responded in kind.) I definitely would side with players over ownership if you put me to it. However, it's way too easy for Harper to pop off when he is one of the wealthiest players in the game, playing on one of the big-spending teams in the sport. Ask the Craig Yohos of the world (tiny signing bonus, might be his first year of getting a full MLB salary) if they're willing to sit out a year, and you might just hear a different story.
  8. So, anyway... I wonder if Arnold believes enough in the ascendence of Made and Pena to part with Pratt. Does he believe enough in Patrick, Myers, and Gasser to part with Henderson? Another thing for Arnold to wrestle with is the fact that we are a team full of young players. We want them to develop. It's not the same as LAD who are stocked with expensive veterans. There is no need to have concern about the development of an aging veteran on an expiring contract. For MKE, the development of Durbin, Collins, and Ortiz has a value that's hard to quantify when we consider upgrading the roster and putting one of them on the bench or into a UTIL role.
  9. Today's wishlist: Cadiz - 1.2M Hughes - 600K Lauridsen - 600K Roupe - 300K Coil - 214K Leftover money - $255 Let's get it done!
  10. Yeah. The throw put him in that spot. Pretty obvious that there is no obstruction in that situation.
  11. Patience is tough. This year's team has a few round holes, but the available talent seem to be squarish pegs. Of all the Brewer teams I've watched, this is the one that seems like the right upgrade could vault them from playoff appearance toward deep playoff run. HOWEVER, the guys who are actually available (on just about any of the top trade target lists) aren't neat and tidy upgrades. They aren't slam-dunk fixes. Even though this is the team I want to upgrade, I don't really think that many of the available upgrades are the right use of resources. O'Hearn or stand pat.
  12. Brewerfanatic's second ever livestream...
  13. Makes it seem like he’s gonna get traded at about 3pm on the 31st, and it will be for two pitchers, and not MKE

  15. I think it’s mostly that the Braves are a mess. If they were in the thick of the Wild card, the perennial sucktitude of the Nats and Marlins wouldn’t be that notable.
  16. I love this hypothetical. In a vacuum, there's a wide variety of players we could get. You could argue that because of showing actual big-league success, each of these guys is more valuable than a prospect in the 15-50 range. (maybe even 5-30). There might be two or three actually untouchable players, even for three top 50 prospects. Ohtani, Witt, Judge, Skenes. Those four are the face of MLB right now. I'd have to think anyone else in MLB could be moved for that trio. In reality, there are other factors like payroll flexibility, available free agents next winter, a team being large or small market, individual team strengths, blocked prospects, etc. that would probably cross a few more players off the list.
  17. This turned out to be prescient. March was terrible, but since April 1, we have the best record in the league.
  18. I know it's cherry picking, but take it one step further... If you exclude just the month of March, the team is a league leader. Starting with April 1, the Brewers have the best record in MLB, and trail only the Cubs in run differential (125 to 116).
  19. Yesterday during Chourio's 3rd inning AB, he had an exit velo of 87.1 and a launch angle of 2 deg. It was on a two-strike pitch after hitting a few foul balls. He had swung hard at the first couple of pitches, and then changed to a two-strike approach. Levering said something along the lines of, "Chourio is thinking, 'The first two swings are for me, but once I have two strikes on me, the other swings are for the team.'" I think instilling this mindset is perhaps the single best thing about Murphy as a manager. It will lead to some low exit velo as people protect the plate, but it will also lead to getting runners over and in more and more often.
  20. I’m fairly convinced that if we are to upgrade SS during this season, it’s going to have to include one of Made, Pena, Pratt, or Quero.
  21. I love little detective nuggets like this.
  22. I'm 1000% on board with O'Hearn. The Castro move could be sneaky good too. I think I often underrate the value of those edge pieces on the roster, but with an impending FA like Castro, the cost might be really low to give Murph a lot of versatility.
  23. I'm really looking forward to his return. I wonder if they will even bother with trying to get him up to a starter's workload for the rest of this season. If they could get him up to 40-50 pitches, he could be really valuable down the stretch.
