  1. Thanks for the word on Clement. I was wondering about him myself. If it doesn't look like he can stay behind the plate and doesn't have the athleticism for third, I would probably pass on him. We have enough firstbasemen as it is. I am really excited by the number of potential quality 3B in the draft. I sure hope this is finally the year. And one other thing I was thinking about. How would Gordon compare to Marte or Wright when they were drafted? Is he near their class or not? Just something I was wondering.
  2. Considering Jack Z's preferences, would he wet himself if Upton fell to us? Maybe he would faint. Or both.
  3. I also am hoping for Gordon. Although we look to be sitting pretty with the talent that should be available when we pick. We can't really go wrong with any of the top five or six. It would be nice to have a top 3B prospect for once.
  4. I don't think "awesomer" is a word. But that's okay. It is correct to describe the Brewerfan.net with a new made-up word.
  5. Lend, your system is much like how the NFL does it. I think the players union could be convinced to put a draft ceiling in the next CBA. They just have to be shown that if less money is going to the draftees more money will go to the MLB players. Kinda like how the NBA did it. In the NBA rookie contracts are pretty much set by the CBA. The union agreed to this because then there would be more money left over for the veterans. Of course the owners would need to give some kind of assurance that the money not going to the draftees would go to player payrolls. A system like this would definately help compettitve balance as well. The poorer teams would be able to spend more on MLB players and still sign their draft picks. The Brewers could have an extra $1.5-$2mil to spend on their player payroll. While that would be alot, it would help.
  6. I noticed that Dana Eveland is marked as unsigned in the 2002 draft achive. He signed eventually.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif And it would be nice if you would link to each team's official homepage on their team pages. i.e. link to Huntsville's website on their team page. That could be nice. And you could even put the official team website links on the links page.
  7. I love the new layout!! Good job. It will take some getting used to though. Kinda like it takes some time to get used to a new pair of shoes.
  8. Well, none of the kids are in a union. So I don't think they could get together and prove it. The union has all of it's member's negotiations to prove it. It would be very hard for one kid or agent to sue and prove something like that just from their own dealings with teams.
  9. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eek.gif You heathen, you!!! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eek.gif
  10. Serve's Drew and Boras right. If they don't want to accept fair deals, lets see him do better next year.
  11. Now Verlander is definately crazy. Lock him up. He turned down four mil? And he wanted 1.5-2 more to sign? He is either insane or an utter idiot. He isn't Mark Prior. He also isn't a sure thing at all. Sure, his stuff is great, but he has control issues. His agent had to know that Dombroski is way to smart to fall for that. And Dombroski isn't going to waste that much on him.
  12. If by some miracle Upton is still available, I wouldn't hesitate to draft him. Unless he is dead or in jail, or something. Or a limb fell off.
  13. What about Nader? Or the Communist Party? "Brewerfans for Communists." Of course "Brewerfans for Nader" would have a nice bit of irony about it. Note: I in no way endorse Nader or Communists.
  14. You want to tell that to that ear of corn? He looks pretty mean.
  15. If I was offered 3mil, I wouldn't care what my agent said. I would take it. Seeing how Rogers got 2.5? a few spots lower, 3mil sounds pretty good.
  16. Yup. Both were bad ideas.
  17. New Coke... Nice one. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif Edit: They wasted so much cash on New Coke and Bill Cosby advertising it only to see it flop.
  18. The kid wanted a major league deal and the Tigers said done. They then offered him $3mil which is about right for slot money. And he turned it down? Both he and his agent are idiots.
  19. Well, according to some imformal and unscientific research by Kelly Blue Book, if you drive a Ford, you are more probably voting for Bush.
  20. When you feel down, remember that we are praying for you!!!
  21. Wow. Sounds great!!! Thanks for all the work you put into the site. We all appreciate it a lot. You continue to make the best baseball fansite in the universe better. Thanks.
  22. Ben was stuck at the Devil's number for k's for his career before today!!! Good thing he got off of that.
  23. Nice to see!!! Glad to see them take responsiblity. And nice to see them pay you.
  24. If he wanted to go back to school and get his degree he should have done what Prior did. Sign a 2005 contract and attend school in the fall and maybe the spring semester. If I remember Prior signed a deal for the following season and then went back to school for the fall semester.
  25. Following this semester would Townsend be able to start negotiating with the O's? Say in December after finals? I doubt MLB would allow it but they might. edit: I have to side with Patrick on this. It's his own damn fault for getting himself into this mess to begin with. If he wanted to go back to school why do it now? Why risk costing himself a lot of money? It just isn't worth risking that kind of money.
