  1. Hayes believes he will make it to the bigs and so do I. There's so many worse pitchers with worse stuff that are in the bigs for multiple seasons. I'd like to see that team be the Royals. That way when the Royals play the Twins in MN I can go and maybe see Pat Neshek pitch for the Twins the same game Hayes pitches for the Royals.
  2. In the interview with the Herald on Saturday, Bradley said: "You understand why they haven't won in 100 years here." Yes I do Milton.
  3. Just saw the report on CBSSports.com NCAA President Myles Brand has lost his battle with cancer. He was 67. http://www.cbssports.com/general/story/12217319
  4. I read that article when Patrick posted the link. It's hard not to get excited about Richardson after reading it.
  5. I forgot about The Complete Book of Swords by Fred Saberhagen! Another great series. Each book is only about 200 pages but there's 10 or so books in the whole series. It's worth reading till the end.
  6. Trery Pratchet's Discworld series are quite entertaining. They aren't serious and are full of satire, slapstick, and silliness. Needless to say, they are quite fun to read.
  7. Dune is one of my all time favorite books. I love it. The 80's movie was a disappointment but the mini-series was quite well done. It's Sci-Fi but if you like fantasy you may like it too. As logan said, it's hard to describe. It has a lot of themes. Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. Stardust as well. Neverwhere is one of the best novels released in the 90's. Neverwhere isn't traditional fantasy but it's quite good.
  8. Dr. Horrible
  9. Anne McCaffery's Dragonriders of Pern series. It's a great series.
  10. Ramond Feist's Riftwar Saga is great too. David and Leigh Eddings' Belgariad and Mallorean series. They're a combined 10 books but very good. He does a good job of fleshing out the characters. Not as much action as other series but a lot more characterization. Terry Brooks Shannara series. A lot of good action.
  11. I think Boras got the $40-50mil number out there just to get people talking about the kid. It certainly drew attention.
  12. CM Punk - ROH and WWE. Chris Jericho - WWE Raven - ECW Mr. Morden - Babylon 5 Weyoun - Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
  13. Per Cot's: A player with 3 years of Major League service may refuse an outright assignment and choose to become a free agent immediately or at the end of the season. When does JJ have to decide this? He was optioned not outrighted so this rule doesn't apply.
  14. Jordan Zimmerman is going to have Tommy John surgery. This is a bummer. I became a fan of his when he was pitching for the Northwoods League's EC Express a few years ago.
  15. If Jones makes it to the bigs it will be the biggest and best comeback we've had in a long time. The type of inspirational comebacks Disney movies are made of. The crazy thing is Jones isn't far from making that improbable comeback a reality.
  16. If you would do this deal you better be pretty certain your pitching coach can figure Zito out and turn him back into one of the better starters in baseball considering all the money you'll be paying him. Right now I don't think any pitching coach can turn him around. Zito's a very smart and determined guy himself so if he hasn't figured out what's wrong yet I don't think he ever will.
  17. The Padres got quite the haul there. Better than the first Peavey trade they agreed to only to have Peavey nix the deal.
  18. I remember meeting him on a Brewers Wisconsin winter tour thingy. He was very nice and friendly. I noticed quite a few fans in EC bringing him their flat brimmed caps for him to sign. I think he'd be worth bringing in on a minor league deal.
  19. It would probably be in your best interest to pass out as quickly as possible. If you can, faint before he touches you.
  20. Jennings has been playing very well at summer league. He's been a distributor and facilitator making the other players much better. Pretty much the opposite of what some people thought about him. Before the draft and after I saw people comparing him to Iverson in that he wouldn't be a facilitator but will be a score first PG who doesn't make his teammates better. So far that doesn't seem to be the case.
  21. Ersan's deal is reportedly 3 years only $7 mil. I think this will prove to be a great bargain.
  22. I love the skills competition idea. Have the best bunters have to bunt down the lines where you tell them. Have the best shortstops field grounders and have to throw out the fastest runners. Have the best base stealers steal bases with the best catchers at throwing out runners behind the plate. And, of course, you have to put the fastest players against each other in the 60. Let's see who really is the fastest.
  23. He retired to spend time with his family. He's a such a family man it would be very hard to pry him away from home.
  24. Bobskube - please pay attention to this section of the Fan Forum Etiquette guidelines: Following the Brewers means accepting their bad days as well as their good ones. If you want a place to blow off steam by declaring players or team staff worthless when the Brewers play poorly, Brewerfan is not the forum for you. Other sports message boards fill that niche better than Brewerfan does. This does not mean we allow only praise of the Brewers; but constructive criticism that remains civil and mature contributes more to the overall discussion than saying "TurnbLow SUX!!!11!!" or "I hate this team," or declaring a game "over" in the 3rd inning. Please refrain from impulsive posts expressing knee-jerk frustration in the form of vents, rants and complaints. If you find that most of your posts take this path, you may want to switch to a forum that's more your style than Brewerfan is. This thread is clearly a knee jerk reaction and violation of this clause. Thus I am locking this thread.
  25. Inside the park home runs? Yup. See how far he can go before the kids in the outfield catch the ball.
