  1. Yes, Almonte will likely be gone
  2. Starting pitching is making a huge difference for the Brewers so far this season, and we still don't have Greinke! Great pitching can make a huge difference for a team with injuries, some players struggling at the plate, a bullpen that is erratic, and we are still over .500 there's plenty of reason for optimism about this years' Brewers
  3. 127 pitches today. Unreal. Brad Mills doing his best Dusty Baker impersonation
  4. Weeks has really developed into a solid 2B. I know that was a routine double play, but Weeks just makes it look so easy on plays that he struggled with earlier in his career
  5. 6,7,8 is once again pretty brutal tonight. Any time you can get a win with 2 or 3 AAAA players in your lineup it is a huge bonus. With that said GO CREW!
  6. I think Roenicke will learn, and quickly. The players are, in general, playing like a .500 ballclub so far
  7. All things considered that was one of the ugliest half innings by both teams I've ever seen. Horrible defense by Houston and even worse baserunning by the Crew. That looked like a couple of Little League teams out there
  8. Weeks Hart Braun Fielder McGehee Betancourt Morgan/Gomez Lucroy Pitcher that is my lineup, and likely will be the lineup when Hart gets back. Hart rakes when protected by Braun. Its is difficult to bat 8th and Lucroy is doing well in that spot
  9. As much as Quade whines and complains he really should be part of the Cardinals organization. Maybe after LaRussa retires
  10. Braun will eventually be a 1B but probably not until 2016- or 2017 or so It'll be Mat Gamel and Mat Gamel will rake
  11. Which essentially discredits UZR There are no stats for "balls that an average college first baseman fields easily that Prince never lays a glove on", there are also no stats for "boneheaded plays per week"
  12. You have to look at the human element in all this. What I mean is that Greinke marches to the beat of a different drummer, to say the least (not making fun of him, at all, but lets just just say he's not your typical pro athlete in terms of his mindset and personality). Lets first let him pitch a few games as a Brewer and see how he likes it before we talk about extending him By backloading Braun's contract, the money is there. Let these guys be Brewers for half a season or so first
  13. Eddie Murray at age 37 hit .285 with 27 HR's and 100 RBI's with a .792 OPS
  14. By the way, that statement of being "one of just five players in Major League Baseball history to hit 125 homers and post a .300 batting average over the first four seasons of his career (the others are Joe DiMaggio, Chuck Klein, Albert Pujols and Ted Williams)", while looking through stats, Vladimir Guerrero should be added to that, unless you count the 9 games he played as a 21 year old...
  15. Vladimir Guerrero is 36 years old this season, last year at the age of 35 he hit .300 with 29 HR's , 115 RBI's and a .841 OPS
  16. Since Ryan Braun is the similar hitter to Manny Ramirez at age 26, if we look at Manny Ramirez's most similar hitters: Ken Griffey Jr at age 37 hit .277 with 30 HR's & 93 RBI's with an .869 OPS Frank Robinson at age 37 hit .266 with 30 HR's and 97 RBI's with a .861 OPS Chipper Jones at age 36 hit .364 with 22 HR's & 75 RBI's in 128 games with a 1.044 OPS Mel Ott at age 36 hit .308 with 21 HR's & 79 RBI's and a .910 OPS The question is do you believe that Ryan Braun is as good as those elite players? I do
  17. In terms of a 36 year old... looking at BaseballReference.com's list of similar batters to Ryan Braun: Manny Ramirez at age 36 hit .332 with 37 HR's 121 RBI's and a 1.031 OPS but that was likely steroid assisted Jim Thome at age 36 hit .275 with 35 HR's 96 RBI's and a .973 OPS Billy Williams at age 36 hit .280 with 16 HR's & 68 RBI's (in 117 games) and a .835 OPS Billy Williams at age 37 in a full season hit .244 with 23 HR's and 81 RBI's with a .760 OPS many of the similar batters, such as Hall of Famers Ralph Kiner and Chick Hafey, played in a different era and were no longer playing at age 36
  18. considering that Kottaras passed through waivers, it would appear that I grossly over-valued him. Doesn't mean he still can't be traded for a AAA SS though, of course, but every MLB GM could have had him for nothing, so I don't think he'll be traded for much!
  19. Braun is one of just five players in Major League Baseball history to hit 125 homers and post a .300 career batting average over the first four seasons of his career (the others are Joe DiMaggio, Chuck Klein, Albert Pujols and Ted Williams). That, to me, says it all. Braun has the potential to be one of the greatest hitters of all-time. In his first 4 years, he is. And by all appearances, it seems like he's even better (so far) this season
  20. I'm a little shocked that Kottaras cleared waivers. It seems that all of MLB GM's agree with those here who don't rate Kottaras very highly, especially considering how awful some of the backup catchers in MLB are
  21. In today's day & age it is so rare for a player to stick his whole career with one team. He'll be 36 when this contact ends. He has effectively passed on free agency at any point in his prime, in order to remain a Milwaukee Brewer. Not only is this a big deal for the Brewers and the state of Wisconsin, but it is a huge you know what to the Yankees & Red Sox of the world and I love it I am thrilled about this. Braun is my favorite player of all time
  22. Hopefully when Nieves does start it'll be when either Gallardo or Narveson are pitching, so the pitchers can add some offense to make up for Nieves, and no I'm not writing this in Blue
