  1. Another fun stat. In 4.2 innings away from Wrigley Field , he has given up 8 runs for a whopping 15.43 ERA
  2. I still think we should sign KRod just so we can trade him a third time for a prospect.
  3. Why not Harvey. He's got the stuff. Might as well toss him out there and see if he can do anything, give us any type of shot in the arm. If he can't, are we really in a different spot than we are now? I'm thinking out loud here, but if only 1 drunkard can see Harvey and the rest of the world can't, does that also apply to objects held and thrown by Harvey, or would the ball suddenly appear once it left his hand. If so that could be quite the advantage. Oh wait, wrong Harvey, this Harvey always makes a decision flipping a coin, that would really make the game drag on. Seriously though, I don't know if there is a cutoff for minor league contracts, but if so, that might not be a bad idea with the usual cutoff date thrown in.
  4. I thought when one team trades cash along with a player, even if that player gets traded again, the original money doesn't go with the player. I could be way off though.
  5. Could not agree more. This is entertainment. It's entertaining when they're in the mix and it's not when they're not. It'd be fun to win it all, too, but after that... it would be entertaining when they're in the mix, and not when they're not. Different sports, systems, mechanics, salary cap styles, and fruit types immensely, BUT the rest of Wisconsin have had plenty to say on the Herb Kohl Era Bucks and the perennial 8th seed in the playoffs and the only 2 Lombardi trophies in the Favre/Rodgers Era. Also, kudos to the well researched, well written thesis on things. Without seeing who started the thread, I assumed it was going to be a gripefest with other word misspelled or capitalized. I appreciate all the effort that went into that post.
  6. I know its probably sacraligious to say this, but if you look at Bill Hall's numbers after his great season in 06, he really took a plummet as he remained a Brewer
  7. With the one lonely trading deadline, I wouldn't be surprised of not a whole lot of action just based on the number of the teams within "striking distance" of the WC.
  8. If I recall correctly, the Brewers have exceeded FGs projections for at least 3 years in a row.
  9. Small Sample Alert but Thames is 0 for 7 with 5 k's against Tanner. Almost wants me to put Yaz at first tonight despite Thames' (Thames's?) surge lately.
  10. All I know is that I will be Smylying if he can return to his good numbers.
  11. Not to mention the goods to parlay into Moose and Gamel
  12. On paper, we should dominate this game, but because baseball is baseball, we could easily get our tails beat.
  13. Not all trades are going to be like the Gomez/Fiers trade. Like others have said, it takes value to get value. I think Yelich has a range of 30-45 WAR, meaning needing 7-11 WAR from the 4 prospects over their current contract. I think we will get more WAR from Yelich than the Marlins get from the 4, but I think it won't be that far away.
  14. If Tom Verducci thinks the Brewers at 8 games over 500 at the time should be in survival mode, I'd wonder how many games over 500 it will take for him to think the Brewers are doing "alright"?
  15. Very small sample alert but Shaw is 3 of 12 with 4 walks since coming up. I think Shaw will at least be serviceable going forward and it won't be clear cut of a switch when Huira comes back to the majors.
  16. Between being Nelson's birthday and the thread title, it reminded me of this very NSFW song by the Bloodhound Gang.
  17. There are 2 popular reasons. First being Jar Jar Binks. He was created supposedly to attract kids but just came off as absurdly ridiculous. The second was the establishment of the midichlorians. Part of the mystique of the original trilogy was this surreal thing of the force that any Tom Dick or Luke could master. It left the idea that anyone could kick butt and be one with the force with enough training. The midichlorians cheapened that stating only those special enough to have midichlorians could use the force.
  18. Despite feeling like complete suckitude today, we are only down 1 against a rocky bullpen.
  19. Chacin playing with fire but it's still way early. It could easily be 6 or 7 runs instead of 2
  20. As Mike Leake proved; you don't necessarily have to steal because of a lack of funds. Leake got busted for stealing shirts under 80 dollars.
