  1. Bud was the owner. Dalton was the good GM in the 70's and 80's. I hope Sterns tops him by bringing home a WS trophy. Doh! That's a pretty significant difference.
  2. If I have time I'd like to see a side by side with this and SI.
  3. I suppose that is a risk one can take. On the other hand, for a minor leaguer without any major league experience, that doesn't leave him with a whole lot of income. Take a steriod to hopefully heal faster knowing that if suspended won't be affected game wise. Personally I wouldn't take that risk but then again I'm not a few years away from being potentially offered millions of dollars in my career.
  4. Half blue but what if we sign Gio just to flip him at the deadline ourselves?
  5. Any chance he could be a part of our 7123 part series of former brewers?
  6. Nobody will please everybody but there's a good chance that 30 or 40 years from now, the general consensus will be (in some order) the top 2 brewer GMs are Bud and DS
  7. Although doesn't this mean with the suspension, he doesn't get paid those 80 days?
  8. My two cents is that while I agree a like button might concisely show agreement without clogging up a thread, I could see a negatively charged thread going after whose posts is liked more.
  9. YLIMVP STLSUX (though I doubt that one gets approved) UECKER 3K4RBN CANBHP (Can Bill Hall pitch)
  10. So I made this (bad) joke to a friend earlier; but if the Brewers don't get Keuchel, I want the Astros to get him. That way Dallas goes to Houston.
  11. There's evidence on both sides where Boras has done well/poorly for his players. At what point does enough people are hampered by Boras where it tarnishes his ability to get the really good contracts?
  12. As someone pointed somewhere else, this could be this year's version of our first base glut last year. Lets get Kratz some reps at first /blue
  13. How quickly do Mic'd NFL players get broadcasted. It feels like whenever we hear some quips, its after production got hands on it and synced it up with video feed and what not. I would think something like that might draw some interest.
  14. That is exactly what I thought about Serenity. Movie is moving along nicely, it's enjoyable, then BAMO! Wrecked with stupid nonsense. FWIW, the spoiler was there because if there was a sequel, they needed to make things logical. That being said, if people wanted to still be involved, they would work around the spoiler. I'm going to see Captain Marvel tonight. I'm going into this not expecting it to be good, but to continue the saga of this lengthy multiverse. I am curious how things will impact the endgame. Captain Marvel is supposed to take place in the mid 90s before any of the Avengers take place. Some minor stuff from Agents of Shield have occurred but its a relatively dead period.
  15. A clock could start when the manager leaves the dugout, initiating the pitching change. If a guy needed 8 pitches, the manager could either jog or motion right away for the change. The relief pitcher could either jog or take the bullpen car. I was joking about the running part but the more I think about it, if the MLB higher ups want to reduce the "down time" making those transitional periods faster would speed up things, I would think. I know a catcher will don his gear ahead of time, but even somebody to catch a pitchers warm up tosses if the catcher just got out would help as well.
  16. Personally I think if Harper had spoke on the behalf of the Phillies that's one thing, but one player talking to another player independently is nothing significant, in my opinion.
  17. That sounds rough. Best wishes. Thanks, I realized after posting that this quite wasn't "what's bugging me" but I appreciate the kind word. On a general topic, my mailman has misdelivered more things this week to our culdesac than delivered. I genuinely hope he is alright but it's getting borderline ridiculous.
  18. Off topic but I love the rhyming scheme of great weight debate.
  19. I vote everybody sprints in ala Todd Coffey.
  20. We will need to put bubble wrap around our kicking nets. /blue
  21. I looks at it where either it's anxiety/heart attack inducing, or a really good season falls a bit short of potential. I think of Favre throwing into triple coverage as an example of the former and some of the years with AROD as the latter. I put this season as closer to seeing the potential and not being happy that the team hasn't seen that potential. We should be happy we've done this well, but it's understandable to see how much more this team could do. Personally, I blame Happs free throw inability on his name sounding too much like Shaq
  22. Packers, Bucks, Brewers. Bucks, Brewers, Packers to make it to the championship game however.
  23. Dealing with family with depression and a death in the family.
  24. That was a great article. I'm not the biggest fan of Boras but I give him credit to getting the contract. It's fictional but I get the comparison of Bebe from Frasier. Not liked personally, willing to hold out to the end, but respected in his field and gets the job done. A couple things jumped out at me. They called Philly competitive, though they did preface that with the money to stay competitive. Also Boras stated the analytics were there to show that Harper will be elite well into his 30s despite not having the current analytics to show his current awesomeness. I admire Harper for wanting to stick with one (more) team. A rarity it seems these days.
  25. Off topic but if Yelich was a Rockie and had the same level of play, I wonder if his season would have been close to Bonds epic year
