  1. Since when is two years out of a player's 3+ year career a small sample? Loney looks like a .300/.350/.450 guy at this point, and that's probably being generous. Lee's more in the .300/.380/.500 range. I don't think moving to the central would make him look that much better.
  2. And their second best http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif Well, I'd probably take Wells over Zambrano, maybe even Lilly at this point, to be honest.
  3. Well, and Jake Fox's ability to take a pitch 6 inches into the zone vertically and laterally for a ball. And, you know, the Cubs just beating the Brewers sometimes, but we'll pretend that never happens.
  4. Stuck with the WGN feed for the night. Please don't make this more painful than it has to be, Jeff.
  5. I just don't see as much in Brantley as others do. He hasn't been very productive since going to Cleveland in the Sabathia deal, and looks like he doesn't have the bat to play in the corners or the glove to play in center. I think Green has a much better chance of being a solid major league player for a significant portion of time.
  6. This is the first time I've ever watched a 20-run game start to finish. I don't know whether to be proud or ashamed of myself.
  7. They pay most of his salary, i'd take him in a heartbeat. He would make a great #2/3 for us. He'll rebound easy. EDIT: Looking at thier payroll for next year, you have to imagine if they resign Lee(all signs point to yes), he's gonna get around 15-16 million a year, Lilly is gonna want atleast 15/year, and Marmol should get a huge raise in arby, as will Soto. They are gonna be really, really, really tight on payroll over the next few years. $15 mil/year sounds like a lot for either a 35 year old 1st baseman or a #3 starter. I'd peg Lee for something like 3/$24-27 and Lilly for something similar.
  8. I just looked at Pittsburgh's ticket prices on their website, and seats behind the plate in the first deck were only $27 for tonight's game. A Pittsburgh road trip might be a good idea sometime in the near future.
  9. I don't know why that's good news, I've been finding myself watching Sunday Night Baseball just to listen to the excrement that protrudes out of his mouth.
  10. As bad as Zambrano has been, this is completely asinine. He's still a legitimate #3 starter. They're kidding themselves if they think some combination of Silva and Gorzelanny will be as good as him. Dempster Wells Lilly Silva Gorzelanny
  11. I hadn't realized that was the case with the DH. If they can each get 400-450 PA's this year in AAA between C, DH, and PH, then I don't have a problem with them splitting time. With Salome's injury history, that probably isn't at all out of the question.
  12. I'd rather not see both of them splitting time at Nashville, if that's the plan. It wouldn't surprise me to see them try and rush Lucroy to the majors at this point though. I haven't heard anything about Salome's defense for a while. Is there any chance he could be serviceable behind the plate?
  13. What reason do we have to believe he is cooked? Sure, he's struggled out of the gate, but I'm sure you can find quite a few stretches of three consecutive starts in his career that were far worse than these three. There's no reason to believe that over the last winter Doug Davis' pitching ability became significantly worse. With the D-Backs, Davis' fastball had average velocities of 84.1, 84.5, and 85.1 in 2007, 2008, and 2009, respectively. Thus far this year, it's averaging 84.0, without this game. Again, Davis has made a pretty good career for himself despite being a soft-tosser. Just give him some time.
  14. I never thought that 11th run would be so valuable...Good to see Diego with the two-bagger.
  15. Davis will be fine. He's still this team's third best starter.
  16. I was surprised to see Fangraphs only having the Brewers at 98% to win the game after being up 10-0 after the top of the first. I forgot about last season...
  17. Wow. Just wow. I cannot imagine the state of this board if the Brewers were on the other side of this.
  18. You can call him Jason Hendrickson. C'mon Carlos, just a couple more runs...
  19. Could we please stop sounding like Cubs fans after every bad loss? As bad as this team has been over the first couple weeks, they've only lost 7 games. Every team has bad stretches over the course of a season. Randy Wolf is not Jeff Suppan, and I really don't want to open that up again.
  20. Who was acquired with Justin Lehr for all of Keith Ginter. ...and traded in a package with Carlos Lee (who was acquired for all of Scott Podsednik and Luis Vizcaino) for a package including Francisco Cordero, who gave the Brewers a couple of very good seasons and eventually a couple of draft picks... As for De la Rosa, wasn't pretty much everybody calling for his head by the time the trade occurred?
  21. The biggest hurdle for the Yankees, IMHO, is that A-Rod might not be able to stay at third much longer, and either he or Tex might have to move to DH. I just don't see how Prince fits into that equation.
  22. It can be hard to make it to the ball park after consuming this much Old Style: http://mygutinstinct.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/853549620_221b39fe8e.jpg
