    I certainly wouldn't have bet on Green being in the trade, but I did have the impression that many on here were a bit concerned, myself included.

    I thought about Tejada for a moment, but then I remembered he isn't really much better than Yuni, and Hairston is quite a bit better than Yuni. Do they have somebody waiting in the wings for CF? Rowand was struggling but he still fields reasonably well.

    From what I gather it's not necessarily true that batters aren't pitched differently when bad hitters are behind them in the order. Nobody has found that the quality of the hitter behind affects the hitter's overall productivity, but it probably is true that they are productive in a different way when poor hitters are behind them (lots of walks vs. a few more doubles/HR's). edit: typo

    That's great. There was one announcer some time back who said "Betancourt came over from Seattle as something of a defensive whiz". I can't remember who that was.

    According to the Weather Channel, 25-30 MPH winds (40 MPH gusts) with a warm drizzle is high threat. I'm betting they'd call a class 3 something like a MEGA-ARMAGEDDON-EXPLOSION-CODE-RED.

    You must have forgot his HBP's? I must have, I saw your line came out just a few points higher all around. A few weeks ago somebody here (Rluz?) was able to grab the Zips projection for Green and it was pretty solid, ~.280/.340/.460/.800. Even if he isn't starting, he'll be a great bat to have on the bench down the stretch.

    Using that site, his MLE comes back as .292/.354/.477/.831. Get this guy some playing time!

    I think Cleveland could have offered him 1 more year guaranteed and ~$20 million for that season. I'm not even an NBA fan but I cheered for Miami throughout the playoffs simply to spite the 95% of sports fans who had turned on Lebron. Sign for most money with loser ---> greedy loser. Leave money on table to sign with winner ---> traitor.

    Not to bad here in Chapel Hill, NC. It's looking like we'll get 30-40 MPH wind and 3" of rain or so. Nevertheless, I'm putting frozen gallons of water in my freezer and putting batteries in my flashlights. This is one time I'm happy we're 150 miles from the ocean.

    I just got home and realized the game was on. Then I realized Saturday's game is on WGN and Sunday's is on TBS. If Hurricane Irene tries to mess with my baseball watching plans, I will be mildly upset.

    I'll probably still use Cots because it lists contract details on the general team page, but it's nice to see somebody else put together a nice database. On a side note, I hate those fake 3-d pie graphs. When I'm elected King of B-Pro, I will ban those.
