  1. TLB, I think the bulk of us really wish we still had the guy, even if we make fun of his frat-bro mentalities. He has had a great year so far. I am curious to know what Money would have said about Lawrie in AAA...
  2. This is perfect. The more the Brewers anger K-Rod the less likely he is to accept arbitration. In all seriousness, they should consider making him park his car in Waukesha and consider running over his dog. Maybe put his locker somewhere near Bernie's Terrace. I don't think it's wrong of him to be upset, but this is not the type of thing that should go to the media.
  3. http://www.avenueadesign.com/bluetooth/images/3_douche.gif Yeah, I'm too important to hold a phone. Hey everybody, watch me call my business associates (mom) via bluetooth so you can see how important I am!
  4. The following is an exhaustive list for me: 1) Another 40 years wandering the basement of the NL Central. 2) Mark Attanasio shows up at my door, asks to borrow my dog, and proceeds to run him over. That is all. I'll be annoyed if/when the DH comes, and I'll be annoyed if the Cubs decide they like winning, but neither of those things will shake my fandom.
  5. I thought it was a reasonable call. He definitely was far enough off the line that it prevented the catcher from making the throw. I wonder if Roenicke's eternally optimistic approach has something to do with the poor fundamentals on this team.
  6. Not an easy call. It's a good thing we didn't have to suffer through 5-10 seconds of booth review for the right call to be made.
  7. Who cares if Gamel is a fat, lazy slob so long as he can hit? I'd rather have Lawrie downing 40's on the field than McGehee watching another 3rd strike call.

  9. HUGE WIN! Can't let those Classies back into the race.
  10. In defense of Bando, Neugebauer had quite a few good seasons as a member of my Milwaukee Brewers franchise for MVP baseball 2004.
  11. Well, if they can't pull this one out they'll probably be down to ~95-96%. A wise man once said "A double is a productive out without the out". Somebody please tell that to Roenicke.
  12. Not to mention a double; his batting line is nearly as good as two Brewers starters, and he isn't even having a great year with the bat. This club is getting into scary territory now.
  13. STL up 5-0 now. If the Crew can't hold onto this one, I think we officially have a division race again.
  14. "Betancourt can really hit" - TBS announcer.
  15. Cheering for the Braves, Falcons, Padres, and Chargers today. Hopefully Weeks can get the ball rolling again. If Roenicke just replaced Betancourt with Hairston, that would be one heck of a lineup.
  16. From a statistical standpoint, if a significant amount of these walks come in situations with <2 outs and a runner on third, the intentional walks could distort the batting average upwards, as flyouts/groundouts are scored as 0/0 rather than 0/1. I doubt that could account for more than 10 points of BA though.
  17. I really dislike the DH rule, but in recent years much of what you say has reversed. The days of the $20MM DH seem to be gone, and we're seeing a lot of older guys who just can't play the field on affordable deals. Scoring is way down this year, although I don't have one of those handy graphs. That said, I desperately hope the NL does not adopt the DH. One of my favorite things about baseball is that it requires all players to participate in all aspects of the game. There's something oddly romantic to me about watching a dominant pitcher go to the plate and fail, or watching the brutish slugger fail to field a ball hit within a few feet of him. This failure just makes true "5-tool" players all the more special, and all the more enjoyable to watch.
  18. With Green at 3B and Hairston at SS, this team would look really good. Let's hope it happens. It's amazing how Pence continuous to be a thorn in the Brewers' side even after leaving Houston.
  19. Bah humbug. If they can't pull this one out I'll start to be concerned again. Why do I have the feeling that they won't have this thing clinched until the last weekend?
  20. Horrible accident in Russia. I first heard the news in the car on ESPN radio, and upon hearing "Pavol Demitra, Ruslan Salei, and Josef Vasicek...", I was just assuming they were coming back over the pond to play for the Canes. I'll always remember watching Demitra lead Slovakia to the Bronze Medal game at the 2010 Olympics, only to see the Slovaks' 3-0 lead vanish and go home without a medal. Demitra was known as a generally good hockey man and an underrated player. He had some good performances for the Canucks in the twilight of his career, but it looked like he still had more hockey in him. Skrastins was the type of defender who often gets overlooked, another underrated player during his prime. He was one of the best Latvian players in recent years, and he was a huge part of their back line. Like Skrastins, Ruslan Salei was a solid, gritty defender from the small Baltic state of Belarus. He was a key part of the 2002 Belorussian Olympic team that shocked Sweden in the quarterfinals. It's been a horrible summer for hockey. Derek Boogaard, Rick Rypien, Wade Belak, and now this.
  21. I'd love to see them do a photo a la "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly". I'm thinking Josh Wilson as Clint Eastwood, Mark Kotsay as Tuco, and a slimmed down Doug Melvin as Angel Eyes. I must say that I can't imagine too many folks in Texas wearing CC's outfit.
  22. In Yuni's defense, games against the Astros are far more competitive when they have 28-30 outs to work with. It's nice to see Lucroy getting in on this action.
  23. Mr. Obamae should be very afraid. I don't know why I often write Greene as well, probably because Tyler Greene of the Cardinals. To those of you who have video, how has his glove looked?
  24. Ha...you threatened us with Trevor Linden, and there he is..... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I waited far too long to bust out my Trevor Linden pic.
