  1. CarGo has to be one of my favorite <.290 OBP guys ever to play the game. Outside of getting on base, he does just about everything extremely well.
  2. Was it just me or did Darren Sutton not sound like Darren Sutton? One more game today. Get the win and the D-Backs game doesn't even matter.
  3. Serious question: How often has a MLB team had both the league leader and league laggard in batting average? McGehee now sits at .222, with Carlos Pena second to last at .227. http://www.fangraphs.com/...nth=0&season1=2011&ind=0 (Sorting by wOBA, McGehee is last at .272, Yuni 2nd to last at .280)
  4. Honestly, I think I'd rather the Brewers win the World Series and then give Yuni a 7 year $70 million deal than drop out in the first round. I know people often view the Brewers as Prince, Braun, and the rest, but really this season they should view them as Braun, then Prince, Hart, Weeks, and Plush, and then the rest.
  5. Now that the division is clinched, I can enjoy watching the sad tale of Mark Kotsay in center field. Really though I want to hit 96 wins. Might as well set a new team record with this team.
  6. Well, I guess you can't argue with science. Laettner played for Duke so he was clearly summoning up the spirit of Kutulu. He isn't clutch, he just has the dark lord on his side.
  7. Just to get these numbers out there, the Braves have a team line of .229/.292/.352/.644 against lefties. In comparison, they have a .252/.318/.405/.723 line against righties. Normally I'd be annoyed about Wolf getting a start, but against the Braves I won't mind it so much. After the first round though (should things go well), I'm really hoping they mow through the rest of the playoffs with just Greinke-YoGa-Marcum.
  8. If you don't factor in standings, I think the edge should go to Kemp. His batting stats are pretty much in line with Braun's, but he's a bit better in the field and he has played 11 more games than Braun this season. I still think Upton deserves some votes, and I hope he gets them. He's had a great offensive season (.292/.372/.536) and plays a very solid right field. I think Verlander should have a good chance in the AL. He's now 24-5 with a 2.29 ERA in almost 250 innings. I think those numbers should play well with the voters.
  9. I just wasted two minutes of my life reading the article. He ends the article with "STFU". Clearly, Whitlock is one of the most brilliant men of our generation.
  10. No he didn't, he didn't say anything about living in a basement and failing to communicate with the opposite sex. I think it was Dave Cameron who wrote a good article on this topic on Fangraphs. Pretty much about how he found it frustrating the way Moneyball portrayed the SABR crowd. At this point, I think a lot of the top guys have a huge amount of respect for the value of scouting, etc.
  11. What a surprise. An online gambling site is actually a scam.
  12. That's a neat graphic, Logan. It would be more interested if it made the area of the circles proportional to the quantity of beers sold from those brands. Then we could all enjoy the giant blob of macro pale lagers.
  13. Great to see that one on MLB.TV's FGOTD! JHJ MLB.TV FGOTD HR FTW!
  14. This just shows us that Roenicke thinks the lead is insurmountable. He wants to rest Yuni so he can be fresh for the playoffs. I'm not sure whether or not this should be in blue.
  15. http://www.german-shepherd-dog-breed-store.com/images/Long-dog-leash-for-tracking-walking-training-pulling.jpg http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQeVkEmcp0HBxnahEUgR4pO2AsXcG7S_M_DywQSJ1qPZ1nJgaP_ Ron Roenicke's McGehee Leash Brewerfan.net McGehee Leash
  16. Positional adjustments should really address defense though, which is why measures like that are generally not used.
  17. Hart plays a decent RF, so I also don't like the idea of moving him to first (yet). Prince probably should have just kept his mouth shut, but I think he deserves credit for being straightforward. I hope Brewers fans can realize that Prince really isn't a good long term fit for the Brewers, and it should be best for both sides to part ways. I'll miss the big guy, and I desperately hope he gets a huge ovation when he returns to Milwaukee next season.
  18. Whew, now I can focus on the Packers and Fantasy Football. Thanks Brewers!

  20. A couple of things I noticed looking at the boxscore: 1) Braun is very good. 2) Kam Loe's ERA is only 3.38 on the season. That's just barely below the team's average of 3.44, which is also pretty incredible.
  21. I've always thought it would make sense for Vanderbilt to leave the SEC and go to the ACC. They're sort of the nerd in a big room of jocks. I'm thinking a straight up trade Vanderbilt for FSU.
  22. That's a painfully bad lineup. Well, actually just the Kotsay part sucks. And the Yuni part. Why oh why must Kotsay hit in the 2-hole just because he's in the lineup?
