  1. This rumor is... http://www.coldtoast.com/images/toastSliceWhiteBkgd.jpg
  2. WOW! The Indians are really going for it this year.
  3. Yesterday my wife and I went to the DMV to get our NC driver's licenses. We had to wait 4.5 hours to take our vision tests and rules tests. Got there at 8:30, left around 1:30.
  4. Tyler Greene was just called up to the majors. http://yourenotagolfer.mlblogs.com/tag/tyler-greene/ Now, if only the Brewers will call up Taylor Green, we'll be in business.
  5. AAA lineup, check. Once promising pitcher now struggling on the mound for the opponent, check. Yovani Gallardo throwing the ball well, check. Guaranteed loss, check.
  6. Furcal's line over the past three seasons is .271/.336/.389/.725 and he's probably an average fielder at this point. He's obviously a pretty big upgrade over Theriot, but I don't think this makes a huge difference; perhaps he makes them a game better over 70 games. He probably won't have that much more of an impact than Hairston.
  7. Same here. I'm happy with this trade for the club's 2 year window.
  8. I hadn't even thought of Hairston as a potential trade pickup, but he certainly fits the bill of what they needed. He plays solid defense at 3B, 2B, and SS and Zips projects him to hit .270/.333/.410/.743. Edit: That Zips projection seems too high. Maybe .260/.330/.370 is a better guess. Hopefully they didn't give up too much.
  9. Perhaps Carroll still fits that bill? I'm probably being too optimistic. I'm not going to be that frustrated if the club doesn't upgrade 2B. Felipe Lopez projects to be better than Betancourt for the rest of the season, and he'll probably only start for 4-5 weeks, so I see a SS/3B type as far more important. Really I'm fine with Lopez as a 2B replacement; SS and 3B are still the positions that desperately need an upgrade.
  10. I can't wait to see the Astros' lineup tomorrow night. Perhaps Craig Counsell should retire on a high note by pitching a few innings of scoreless ball...
  11. Green just struck out. Guy can't even hit AAA pitching, yet we clamor for him to play in the big leagues? In order to be successful in the bigs, you need grit, experience, and more grit. It's a man's game, and men don't strike out against guys named Andy Van Hekken. Green is clearly just mentally weak. His feelings were hurt when he wasn't called up to the big leagues yesterday, as Lopez was acquired. I heard from my friend who interned in ticket sales for the Sounds that he cried himself to sleep last night and questioned his passion for the game. I'm betting the reason he struck out tonight is because he went out partying too late last night. Winners just don't call up players who strike out against Andy Van Hekken.
  12. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif"Daddy, why do they suck so much? They're hurting my eyes."
  13. Felipe Lopez's lifetime average as a Brewer just keeps rising.
  14. His FIP is 3.69 and his xFIP is 3.89. When players put the ball on the ground 61% of the time and you don't walk a ton of guys, you'll tend to strand base runners.
  15. Really happy to see this. I don't know enough to grade Klinsman myself, other than the fact that he managed Germany and Bayern, but I'm usually happy when the soccer pundits are happy, and they seem to be excited about the hire.
  16. Maybe because it's the day after the trade deadline? Perhaps Melvin sees some reason to keep him in the minors if he's still considered trade bait.
  17. You have to feel it for Counsell there. What's that MLB record again?
  18. You have to have something to talk about when your team is as horrible as the Cubs. I remember Daron and Bill once spent multiple innings discussing the use of strawberries on a salad back in the 2004 season. It was more interesting than the baseball.
  19. I saw that too. Somebody should tell Plush about that kid in a tweet. Ryan Braun's logic: My OPS is almost 1.000. I should probably hit a double right about now.
  20. He should be a nice replacement during Weeks' DL stint. I won't expect much production out of him, but he should be able to hold his head above water.
  21. I'm curious to know Sedar's success rate on those two out gambles. It's like this team plays every game with 25-26 outs.
  22. They just showed Weeks' injury on WGN and I've got to say I'm really happy that they're saying only 3-6 weeks. That had serious ligament damage or break written all over it. Scary stuff.
  23. I would imagine that if Melvin trades for Carroll he'd start at 2B for 3-6 weeks and then move over to SS. At this point, I'd be thrilled if the club is able to acquire Carroll without having to overpay. The deadline is only ~72 hours away, and unless Melvin already has something in the works, that's not a ton of time to get deals done. Carroll is a mediocre player, but mediocre is a whole lot better than terrible.
  24. Kris Draper was traded from the Winnipeg Jets to the Detroit Red Wings for a dollar in 1993. Draper went on to play over 1000 games for the Red Wings. So, based on that deal I'm guessing the Braves expect Wil Nieves to hit .350 next season.
  25. Here's what I imagine Brewerfan looking like if he does turn out to be on the list:http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_pmWtjJSNCz4/SK14BzRmJnI/AAAAAAAAAFo/wPVTmsjE8dY/s400/800px-simpsons_angry_mob.png
