  1. Hate the Gomez in the leadoff spot call by RRR... Who would you put leadoff, especially knowing RRR loves to bunt the 2nd guy, rather bunt Segura than Gomez, although I agree I hate putting a guy with 20 hr potential in the leadoff spot. But this team has no true leadoff guy or even close to it I would bat Weeks leadoff. Weeks has always been a OBP guy and always did well in the leadoff spot. He would be my first choice with a short leash. As Baldkin mentions the Gomez leading off in 2012 failed miserably. It wasn't until thick skull RRR finally dropped him in the order that he started to progress.
  2. Hate the Gomez in the leadoff spot call by RRR...
  3. Shaking my head at this move, now combine that with Gomez leading off and I am even more frustrated. Gomez started to get things figured out once he was removed from the leadoff spot.....
  4. Flip Reynolds/Francisco and Davis and I think we have our winner. Was going to post this same thing.
  5. Really?? Peralta has the best stuff on the entire staff in my opinion and is poised for a breakout season. From June 1st on, he posted a 3.48 ERA over 21 starts, including 2 complete games. How is that not worthy of a rotation spot? This is exactly how I feel about Wily. I think we're going to see big things from him this season. Add me to the list as well. Wily in AAA??? He is the highest upside pitcher in the organization, and his performance last year showed just that. I wouldn't be shocked if he ends up the Brewers best pitcher this year.
  6. Hard to say he is under appreciated when he is in the hall of fame.
  7. Weeks will be starting at 2B this year, and I would like to see him leading off. Gennett, while I like the kid, just doesn't offer much with the bat. Weeks is having a nice spring so far, and I expect him to bounce back and have a more Rickiesque year. .250ish, nice OBP, and 15hr.
  8. Braun will be just fine this year. He is going to shut his mouth, play baseball, and make a lot of people put their foot in their mouth.
  9. Just ready some fantasy articles and look who is the first player discussed here? http://fantasynews.cbssports.com/fantasybaseball/story/24450283/draft-prep-breakouts-10
  10. I would be curious to understand if there is a production drop off with other players who play winter ball. I think getting burnt out was part of the problem, but I also think pitchers started figuring him out as well
  11. Even crazier stat I heard on Rome the other day is he will get paid $9000 per pitch. Per pitch! That is insane!
  12. 1. Peralta to progress and become more consistent. 2. Braun to come in keep his mouth shut and fall in line behind the new leadership on this team. 3. Yo to right the ship, and get back to form. 4. Weeks to bounce back some in a platoon role with Scooter. 5. Gomez to not regress too much. I see him coming back to earth some. I just hope it isn't a free fall.
  13. I want nothing to do with Ike Davis. There is no difference between him and Francisco when it comes to the bat. Low average with power potential. Why give up a prospect to get another weak player at 1b to muddy that situation even more and possibly block Morris from getting a shot.
  14. The Mariners have a lot of nice young pieces in place. Hultzen, Walker, Zunino all have All Star+ upside. Felix is Felix and Iwakuma is very good. They could use something more in the OF, but if some of their MLB ready high upside guys pan out they could be good.
  15. I'm not worried at all about the leadoff spot. Hell, toss Weeks there since all he is still okay at is getting on base. If he can bat .240/.250 he should carry a solid OBP. We also have Gindl to platoon in case Davis struggles early. Gindl also did very well as a PH, at least my memory thinks so. Not sure about the stats. As for Will Smith, I see him as an RP, which is a need. Solid trade overall.
  16. Here is what I see for 2014 if no FA is signed and no trade happens. Gallardo: He will rebound, I am certain. Lohse: I see him regressing slightly. Peralta: He will continue to progress and I wouldn't be surprised if he finishes the year as the teams best pitcher. Estrada: I think he is about maxed out. Don't expect a whole lot from him, but he deserves a spot in the rotation to start the year. Thornburg: As others have said, he needs to be starting right now so they can see what he can do. I just don't think anyone else is ready yet, and I would rather have a high upside guy over a guy like Narv or Gorzo.
  17. At least Thornburg looked good. For how bad he was in AAA this year he has been just the opposite in the bigs.
  18. Braun will not be traded. He will also have no negative impact on the clubhouse either. These guys are grown men not high schoolers. This team is establishing new leaders and Braun will lay low, get to work, and fall in line. It won't be long before he is accepted back by his teammates and the fans. As far as free agents go, what big name free agents do you think Milwaukee will try to sign over the next few years? Not many, and I highly doubt the few they go after will sign elsewhere because they would have to play with Braun. Again, these are grown men, and this is a business.
  19. Rickie Weeks can't. Mike Cameron couldn't either batting in the middle of the Brewer order despite over 20 HR. Geesh, can't you guys just get off your high horses every time RBI is mentioned? So lets do away with it being part of winning a triple crown then. My point was Francisco needs to be very productive offensively to offset his poor defense. That's regardless of what stat you look at as a measurement of productivity. I just threw RBI out there. I could have just as easily said he needs to slug close to .500. That wasn't the point but thanks for jumping on it anyway. Getting back to Francisco, regardless he should never start a game against a lefty. He's never hit a HR off one in more than 100 PA. So if he's the guy at 1B next year, he'll need a platoon partner. Quit bring it up like it means anything and we will. To say RBI means nothing is ridiculous. Yes, it is certainly not a basket to put all your eggs in when looking at a players performance, but don't act like it is meaningless. Earlier this year when the cards were dominating it was in large part due to their success with runners in scoring position, which translates into RBI, which is the name of the game. Scoring/driving in runs.
  20. Dunn doesn't give you much more than Francisco. Yes he will walk more, but not sure I would like seeing weeks traded for him. If they move weeks it should be to get younger not older IMO.
  21. I wish weeks wouldn't have folded his ankle in half. He was coming off a great year in 2010 and was on pace for an even better 2011, and was putting it together. He was arguably a top 5 second baseman at that time, but has never been the same since. He is at the point in his career where the injures never fully heal, and it is essentially downhill.
