  1. I like these Facebook games. No Gruber, Pizza Ranch, or other crappy commercials. I enjoy Plesac but they could really upgrade the high school level play by play man and sideline reporter.
  2. Dan Plesac says we are a very good defensive team. Not sure where he got that from.
  3. Unless Shaw goes on the DL, I would not be surprised if Perez gets more OF time than Broxton. They seem to love him for some reason.
  4. Broxton will hardly get any PT other than late game defense. Bringing Santana up to sit on the bench would be stupid, same with Phillips.
  5. As the thread title states.
  6. On the one hand, losing Shaw hurts the offense. But on the other hand, how much worse could the offense get?
  7. Pretty much how I feel about this whole argument. We're bickering over which of our crappy middle infielders is the best. The answer is none. None of Arcia, Sogard, Saladino, or Villar should be starting for a first place team yet two currently are and all four have taken just about every middle infield plate appearance in 2018. I'll even throw Perez into that black hole of suck. Our SS's have put up a .500 OPS this year. That's not a typo. And that includes 29 PA of Saladino's .952 OPS as a SS. Our pitchers are hitting at a lower batting average and OBP of only about 40 points compared to the SS. That's embarrassing.
  8. If pitchers work quick, there will be less of the time calling. Most of the time, batters call time because the pitcher is just staring at them instead of throwing the ball. There will still be some gamesmanship by some batters trying to slow down a quick pitchers, but that's when the ump can stop granting time outs by the batter. Pitchers working quicker would probably lead to move timeouts. Batters do it to break up a pitcher's rhythm. They do it all the time to Suter because he gives them no time between pitches.
  9. Right now, umpires can call a strike if the batter is not in the box in time. I can only remember one time in the last 10 years or so that has even happened in the majors. I do remember a few years ago a minor league batter struck out seeing only 1 pitch. He didn't like the strike 1 call so he argued outside of the box and the umpire just called strike 2 and 3 while he was standing there without a pitch being thrown. I believe the same is also true for a pitcher, that an umpire can call a ball if he taking too long between pitches. Once again, pretty much never happens. Umpires do absolutely nothing to enforce batters staying in the box between pitches. If they would actually do their job and start to enforce that, you could probably shave 5-10 minutes off a game.
  10. Not sure if this thread is a joke or not. And that says something about our current infield.
  11. Day games are generally "give any good players a day off" game so that makes sense.
  12. Yea, but it would take like two weeks for players to adjust and then no more need to call the corners like that anymore. Very simple solution. But that was my compromise, if we don't want to try that then I'm fine with the current pace of play. Corners are already a crapshoot with most umpires. This will do nothing but piss off more players, managers, and fans. I agree pretty much every suggestion I've seen about changing rules to speed up the game sounds crazy. Just as crazy as allowing umpires to change the strikezone at their discretion if they feel players are taking too long.
  13. I'm pretty sure guys know if they are playing the next day or not before they leave stadium after a game. And even if that's not the case, that's not an excuse. You need to show up with the mindset that you are starting and then adjust accordingly. And this isn't a new thing, Counsell has been doing this for over a year. The players know what's going on.
  14. The problem with a pitch clock is that it's going to be a huge deal because it's going to be such a massive change to some pitchers to disrupt their entire rhythm that it could end up affecting careers and be wildly opposed by the MLBPA. I agree that most dead time is between pitches, I just don't know how you would go about the pitch clock. Maybe the best way would be to grandfather every player with MLB service time in now and now draw the line in the sand and say everyone from this point has a pitch clock. Then everyone it across the board in the minors and all the up and coming pitchers can become accustomed to it. It would take years before you'd start to see the real changes from it but it would be about the only way to do it without creating sudden chaos in a season. I would agree that pitchers waste too much time on the mound not doing anything. Just throw the damn ball. Don't like being hurried? Too bad, figure out how to pitch quicker. Same for batters. Stop wasting time outside of the box. If that takes you off your game, too bad. Figure out how to deal with it.
  15. The thing about strikeouts is that it's not just that pitchers throw harder. I would actually argue strikeouts are up more so because batters just don't care if they strikeout. 2 strike approach like I posted earlier. Batters would rather get caught looking on a close pitch or swing out of their shoes and miss strike 3 then shorten up and put the ball in play.
  16. Ya I think Braun is officially in a platoon. Nothing to do with injury anymore.
  17. Way too much celebrating Molina. You need to re-read your own rules.
  18. You honestly think they hit Cain on purpose in the first inning with a runner already on and only 1 out? When they’ve already lost the first two games of the series? On top of that Cain has never done anything to cause a beef with the Cards. Nothing suggests this was intentional. BF posters have been more Cardinal than the Cardinals lately about unwritten rules. He pitched inside and missed end of story. Retaliation causes Chase to get tossed, bullpen drained eating 8 innings, chance of players hurt or suspended if a fight breaks out. It’s a no win for the Brewers. He shouldn't get tossed. Precedent says warnings should be issued. If Chase gets tossed, Miles should have been tossed. Goes back to my MLB and the umps do nothing to take control of the situation comment.
  19. The Brewers probably won't do anything about it, but you know who definitely won't? Major League Baseball. If you don't want beanball wars, MLB needs to step up and say, "Hey, you hit Cain in back to back games after some animosity between him and your pitcher. Clearly something is up, here's a suspension." But that will never happen unless the Brewers drill a Cardinal.
  20. If MLB or the umps would be proactive and put an end to the stuff before it starts, it wouldn't come to that. But very, very rarely do they do anything about it.
  21. Right about now I think Cain would disagree with you. How do you think he feels right now? And what exactly is going to stop the Cardinals from hitting guys? MLB will do nothing until the Brewers do.
  22. A salami would have been so awesome. Aguilar could have pimped that all around the bases.
