  1. Or, you know, the Rangers could up their offer if they want him today. It takes two to tango and I'm sick of constantly reading in these reports that the Brewers need to accept less. Offer more and you got him.
  2. From the reports it seemed like nobody thought he would veto it. Which makes me think he had previously said he would go to Cleveland and then changed his mind due to contract issues, money, playing time, what have you. Cleveland had to know Lucroy would need to approve the trade and I can't believe they would have gotten this far without getting word from Stearns that Lucroy would accept it. I understand it is his contractual right to veto the trade but all blame really falls on Lucroy here. Whether you think he's a turd for doing it or just exercising his contractual rights, it all falls on him.
  3. I really have no interest in Gallo but someone posted earlier he immediately becomes our 3B. Does that happen or does he go to AAA? Perez is holding his own so far and I see no reason to burn half a year of service time this year on him.
  4. Does this lower our trade leverage though if other teams know how desperate we are to trade him before the deadline today? I guess it's probably no secret to begin with that we really need to move him by 3:00 this afternoon. Lucroy's value is what it is. The fact that he didn't travel with the team or the Cleveland deal fell through makes no difference.
  5. Honestly now, who is the most valuable player on the trade market--Jean Segura, Jonathan Villar, or Orlando Arcia? Totally depends what team you're dealing with. Arcia would be most valuable to San Diego or Atlanta, Villar to the Mets or Indians, and Segura to no one because he's Jean Segura.
  6. A pitcher cannot get a win and save in the same game. Only one or the other.
  7. I agree, his arm is likely in great shape but the rest of his body is not balanced out, starting with his legs. Doesn't really matter if it's arm or leg to a team looking to acquire him. Losing 5 MPH off your fastball does nothing but hurt his value.
  8. It's not even the first time Madden has done that this year. Yes, in the Majors when any player is taken out of the game they cannot go back in.
  9. I'm not sure how much the Brewers "developed" Braun. He didn't even spend two full seasons in the minors and raked at every level he played. He would be the player he is now no matter what team drafted him.
  10. How much communication would really be allowed between Lucroy and Cleveland since they aren't his employer? Isn't that tampering?
  11. Serious question, would Garza or Anderson be any worse than Miley for Baltimore?
  12. Can we start give out some time outs? A lot of real pieces of work making noise around here the last 24 hours.
  13. He's been brought up plenty of times here but he really offers nothing for Milwaukee due to his limited years of control left.
  14. Top of the first inning Aledmys Diaz gets hit on the wrist taking a partial swing and has to leave the game. Bottom of the first the Cardinals drill Stanton in the ribs on the first pitch of the at bat. Obviously intentional and Stanton stared down Carlos Martinez most of the way to first. And no warnings issued. How does St. Louis consistently get away with this crap?
  15. Trade with the Rangers...? Doug Melvin's ears perk up.
  16. I would assume the big leagues would but I can't see a minor league team having someone for that.
  17. Rae to the DL after 1 appearance with a sore elbow. Just keeps looking better for the Marlins.
  18. He bailed because people were not bowing down to his inside information. He was actually Lucroy trolling us because he knew he was going to veto the trade anyway.
  19. He basically said trade me in the offseason and then again during the all-star break, we work out a trade and he declines it. That doesn't sound loyal to me. Ya, you can't talk about playing for a winner as much as he has and then say no to go to a first place team. I get the option/money issues but he should have kept his mouth shut the first time.
  20. This seems like exactly what it is boiling down to. His goal is to maximize his free agent value and he has a lot more perceived value to teams as a full-time catcher than a C/DH/1B. Why should it matter how much he catches next year? Everyone knows he can catch. Giving him a half season off of catching should actually increase his value as it will keep him healthier and fresher.
  21. If Jon is still a Brewer on Tuesday he's going to tear an ACL the last week of the season. Call it right now. #BrewersLuck
  22. Problem is Lucroy's market sucks. It was a dogfight with Cleveland and the Mets for least dissapointing package. From what's been reported. I don't believe most of what's reported about trade rumors. Most reporters just need to tweet something to stay relevant, whether there's any truth to it or not doesn't matter. Not just out of spite, but I really see Atlanta swooping in and getting him.
  23. The Indians would be stupid to not start him next year if he's on the team. What a joke that is. But I really don't see how this hurts Lucroy's value. It didn't hurt Gomez last year. If someone wants him, they will pony up to get him.
  24. Using that logic, he should be happy with what he signed because he agreed to it. If he didn't think it was enough then he shouldn't have.
  25. I posted somewhere in the last 24 hours that I could see Lucroy vetoing because, we're the Brewers, why should anything work out for us. Get Atlanta on the phone. Send him to the baseball cellar. Have fun finishing behind the Brewers the next 2 years.
