  1. I'm sure it's the same guy. The first spring training I went to was in 2005 and I remember seeing a guy with Greene on his uniform working with catchers so he's been at it for quite a while.
  2. Why? Because he hit great and then had a career ending injury?
  3. He's the guy who started hitting the pitcher 8th and using a specialized bullpen. Ya the Cardinal Way crap is stupid but you can't deny he's been forward thinking. And you can't deny that all those beanings didn't work in their favor.
  4. If we were facing a good pitcher I'd say 20 runs is an option with this lineup. But because we aren't this has the look of a one-hit shut out.
  5. Let's assume the Brewers win tomorrow. They will then be 44-56. Would you say they are 12 games under .500? I think most people would. Be shouldn't you say they are 6 games under .500 since a .500 record at 100 games would be 50-50 and they are 6 games worse than that?
  6. I don't know if you can say they're smart when they are quite obviously robbing other teams blind. It just seems like they know the guys they can take to the cleaners.
  7. Dynamite analysis. If I provided a detailed analysis of "why" then would that result in a different conclusion? No. So I went straight to the point. Not my issue that you can't see what's right in front of your face Your post simply sucked. I could have taken time to explain why but I went straight to the point. Not my fault if you can't understand what's right in front of you.
  8. I think a more fun topic would be worst catcher. Robinson Cancel Pat Borders Raul Casanova Jorge Fabregas Keith Osik Blake Lalli
  9. While this may stink for us as fans because we are all hopeful/excited to see how they can rebuild this organization, this is a really good thing. Something he has learned possibly from Doug Melvin as he was pretty secretive during his tenure. Keep your cards close to your vest and get as much as you can. I see lots of people saying this. Exactly what GM says anything of value publicly before a trade happens?
  10. Puig would only be the balance the money out, so essentially the Brewers throwing in cash. He would be the Aaron Hill of the trade to get back something of use. I can understand how some don't want Puig but if taking Puig brings back a prospect or two I don't see how anyone could be against it.
  11. It's impossible to compare players from different eras of MLB history. Despite being the same game there is so much that has changed there is no way statisticians can account for different quality of equipment (bats, balls, gloves), size of ballparks, lack of racial diversity, changes in rules for pitching, changes in use of pitchers, conditioning and training of athletes, scheduling and travel, medical advancements, etc. And any stats involving defense (other than fielding percentage) are completely useless prior to the 21st century. Players can only statistically be compared to their generational peers. Most everything else is merely personal opinion.
  12. Have been since Lucroy left Arizona with the team. I think Stearns is asking too much and everyone has moved on to cheaper options.
  13. I just can't figure out how no one waved their hands and just said, "This is a horrible trade! This is a horrible trade!" I realize they wanted a guy they felt was a top of the rotation type player, but even running the deal by a couple of semi knowledgable fans would have caused them concern. Just weird. Even thought Tony La Russa is human garbage, he's still a pretty smart and forward thinking baseball guy. I can't believe he supports most of what Stewart has done.
  14. So is Chapman going into the rotation? Otherwise I don't see this being that much of an improvement for them. Even if he signs an extension.
  15. Dave Stewart continues to generate the LOL's.
  16. I would think so because him touching it would have had made no difference on the result of the play.
  17. So can anyone pinpoint why exactly Garza just started sucking two years ago? Doesn't seem like his velocity is down much if at all.
  18. I'm jealous of how Atlanta has built their farm system so quickly and so cleverly. I wish we were as smart. I know youre a big fan of our FO but let's face it, so far Atlanta is playing chess and our guy is playing checkers. Hopefully the Luc trade will be the splash move to get us jump started. As to acquiring Luc, that would only make sense if they think their young pitching coming up as 90s Braves capability and they want a veteran catcher to work with who can also provide some pop in a line up that could use it. And if not, so what, they can flip him dowm the road. I still see the Indians being the best fit. They keep playing Dave Stewart. I don't see how that's clever. They found the mark at the table and bled him dry.
  19. We're talking over 125 years of baseball. To start ranking players or using top whatever is just disingenuous to the sheer number of players that have played and length of history of the game. Is Ichiro a Hall of Famer? Absolutely. Is he a top 50 all time or top 10 right fielder? I don't really care, but he's one of the best ever and one of the greatest of his generation and that's all he should be compared against.
  20. Ooh, mind games. I like this. They should put him in the lineup and then scratch him an hour before the game. Then the media asks why he's taken out and we say we possibly have something that could be going down and then a bunch of teams start frantically calling, trying to figure out who is the front runner and if it's too late to make an offer. [sarcasm]Or tell everyone his wife dropped a suitcase on him again.[/sarcasm]
  21. Northbound 43 on Friday and Southbound 43 on Sunday disagree with you.
  22. Aren't Brewer games on like 5 or 6 different radio stations?
  23. Who are these aggressive promotions that are being talked about? I've always felt the Brewers have been way too conservative with advancing their prospects. The fact that Ray went right to High A is crazy.
  24. What Dave wants I think is irrelevant as the Dodgers have the resources to get much better pitchers than those two.
